Having read many threads on this forum I havn`t read any from users who also suffer with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) so I thought it might be helpful to share my experience as I have had IBS since my late teens. I am 64 now. I started as most people do with a weekly injection of .25 mg to start my body to get used to Ozempic. I thought at first that I had no side effects. This was not quite cor...

the "instructions" state that I take .25mg for 1st week and then .5mg thereafter. The graduations on the pen show nothing but dashes until you reach 1mg. the instructions also state that you can only take 1mg with this pen. wtf?

Started in january 2023, first few weeks i experienced nausea and constipation. Then severe upper abdominal pain began at about week 4. Pain lasted for approximately 2 weeks. Thought i was going to stop if it continued. Took omeprazole and pain stopped. A1c went from 9.4 to 6.6. Sugars were 130 ish and below. Noticed that benefit each week only lasted about 4 days until ozempic seemed to fail in helping levels to stay low. I also take insulin, and require much less than I had prior to ozempic. Havent lost much weight, but not the reason i am on it. Inspite of my numbers being lowered, i see maybe 4 days of good numbers before the ozempic seems to wane before the next injection, which then takes about a day to begin working. I dont believe the cost of this medicine makes it worth taking because of its waning properties. Read More Read Less

In terms of weight loss, this has definitely worked for me. I was 200lbs when I started and after 4 weeks I am now 192lbs. The first few weeks I didn't have any side effects and my appetite was slightly reduced. Having suffered from BED for 15 years, it's been such a relief not to obsess over food at all! I have had no desire to binge eat either. However, as I began week 4, my appetite is now so reduced that I barely eat anything at all. I have to force myself to eat a meal, and even then I feel sick after a few bites. I have found that having a mouthful and waiting 5 minutes helps somewhat, but even so, I have little energy from eating so little. The worst side effect though has to be the burping... I was not prepared for how gross it would be! I also have a very bloated stomach after eating or drinking anything. I'm not sure if the weight loss is worth having to deal with gas, bloating and feeling sick...Read More Read Less

If you're looking to lose weight, you will still have to follow an eating plan that's balanced and deliberate. That being said, Ozempic is making the diet plan manageable and for me, that's a big plus. I am averaging about 1 pound loss per week. That's just something I couldn't seem to do using the diet plan alone. I am on week 9 and have just moved up to the 1mg dose. Side effects have been minimal.

I've taken my 4th dose. I haven't had any side effects yet. I've lost 19 pounds, and will increase the dose to 0.5mg next week. My appetite has been decreased to the point where I've forgotten to eat a couple of times. I couldn't be happier.

40 y/o female, BMI 29 and prediabetic. I was placed on ozempic as it is impossible for me to lose weight due to an extremely low metabolic rate. I’ve been on 0.25 weekly for 4 months. I’ve lost 30 pounds. Purely based on weight loss, I never needed to up the dose. — so that has been great. I inject into the outside of my upper thigh. The side effects however, yikes. Even on the lowest dose, they have been no joke for me to the point where I have to stop the medicine. I’ve eaten so little, and even at that level I get explosive diarrhea, severe severe abdominal cramping from both gas and muscle convulsions, vomiting. It’s like my stomach is constantly tearing itself apart, even if the only thing I ate was 6 saltines. It’s basically been 4 mos of diarrhea, so I take Imodium and multiple gas x every single day. I’ve taken vitamin b6 and b12 as well as unisom to help with the nausea (same treatment course that helped my morning sickness). This med is wild and impacts people so differently. Most everything says .25 doesn’t do much, but I am the case study in that not being accurate. But feeling like a fork is twirling around my intestines like spaghetti isn’t a way to live. My last dose was 8 days ago and the last thing I ate was a dinner roll and banana 2 days ago and predictably I’m having horrific stomach rolling pain and diarrhea today. I can’t wait for this med to get out of my system. Read More Read Less

absolutely terrible stomach cramping, diarrhea, and vomiting for hours at a time. The next day would be better, and the day, following, I would have the stomach spasms, diarrhea, and vomiting again, I couldn’t get off the medicine, fast enough. Unfortunately, it stays in the system for five weeks! Be very careful if you have IBS-D - this can wreak havoc on your system.

This medicine does work for lowering your A1C but I took it for 7 weeks and had to get off of it as it caused me vision problems and hair loss. Not to mention all the stomach problems you can think of and headaches. Also once I got on the 0.50 dose it called me to have a flush when I would take it where my face and arms would get red.

I want to give Ozempic high ratings but I can't because for me it has been a miracle...a miracle I briefly had and is now gone. In the 3 weeks I have taken it my blood sugars have gone from the mid 300 range to the mid hundreds range and I have lost 8 pounds. I love what it has done for me. SADLY...after next week I will no longer be able to use it. In March I was 64 and with my insurance I paid $25 a month. In April I am 65 and now have medicare with a separate prescription insurance. Now Ozempic will cost me $579 a month and the word "medicare" keeps me from qualifying for a company reduction in cost. So now I am one of America's elderly who no longer matter. I shouldn't qualify for a medication that can help me live longer evidently. As far as I am concerned Ozempic, companies like it, and medicare consider elderly throw away citizens!! We are the ones who really need the savings plan but we are the ones who don't qualify. Good luck to each of you when you become one of us at 65!Read More Read Less

My Health Provider Is A Genius! No Side Affects- Its in the Dosage and add B-12 Injection! I am one week in- start at .05 (higher dose) he added the B-12 injection at the same time. I eat small meals- lean protein- veggies stay under 1200 calories- low sugar- just have fruit. Bottom line don’t blame the medication ( some people will get sick based on your medical history) most are still eating the same diet that contributed to the initial weight gain.Lifestyle change, you will begin to feel full- not obsess about eating- you will forget to eat. Double chin almost gone- pains leaving. This is life changing for me! First week! Rip the bandaid off- get tired of your current condition- start eating healthy- move 1/2 more everyday- Find a gifted doctor who understands the best way to administer the drug( I will go every Monday) start at higher dose/B-12- Get angry and determined- Good Luck!Read More Read Less

The gates of Hell have been unleashed in my gut... I have never been so sick even in my life. I am happy for those that can take this drug and it has worked for them but sorry it hasn't for me. I was looking forward to it. 65 years old and 5'9" and 175lb my A1C is 7.5, not too bad. To be honest until the Dexcom came out it usually ran in the 9 and 10s since I was 30. So here come Ozempic to get me in the 6s. Bad move. After day 2, the thrusting vomiting begun.. so hard it left my stomach in pain.. Eat crackers Ozempic website says, drink soups and lots of water... sure it all come right back out. Called the Doc. got me some meds for that, oh more meds for the meds I'm taking. Then next comes the diarrhea with no end in sight.. So I got some pills for that too.. Now week 2? Do I dare go on? Well so many people have, why can't I? It's only .25. So I did. Big mistake! Everything got worst with the wrath of Ozempic inside me now, I started to get severe headache, fogginess, dizzy and was tired all the time with depression. Depressed 'cause I've been sick so much. So enough is enough.. No more for me. So after loosing 17lbs in 2 weeks mostly from being scared to eat anything and if I did.. well you know. I'm done with this beast. Read More Read Less

Just started taking this new med and it's been super easy to handle. The only sucky thing is I got constipated, which I never got before. But I've been chowing down on more fiber and taking some laxatives to deal with it. On the bright side, it's really killed my appetite - I used to pig out like six times a day and still feel famished, but now I'm good with just two small meals. So yeah, this med is totally doing the trick for me! The worst thing is that it's very expensive, but luckily i was able to use a telehealth service (semalean) and get it prescribed that way instead of through my GPRead More Read Less

I was prescribed Ozempic for weight loss...I was barely in the obese category. I helped me lose about 14 lbs. Along w exercise but I have hit a plateau. Trying other means to shake plateau. Biggest negative effect is the day after my weekly injection I have been tired even a little shaky. Usually goes away in 24 to 36 hrs so I have to remember to take at start of weekend otherwise I'm like a zombie at work.

I started with the normal dose of .25mg. It had little effect; I was still quite hungry all the time. Increased to .5 and started to get bouts of nausea, but nothing to terribly uncomfortable. It would quickly subside. Now at 1.0 is started to really feel sick. Severe vomiting and nausea and diarrhea; left me sick for days and eventually in the doctors office for fear of bad side effects/reaction. I lost about 10lbs and could probably continue to lose another 10lbs, but vomiting and nausea was just too much for me to handle. Kept me in bed a lot, and off from work; plus, my libido just disappeared overnight when I began treatment which is way out of the norm for me. I decided to stop treatment. Side effects are not worth it.Read More Read Less
