Having read many threads on this forum I havn`t read any from users who also suffer with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) so I thought it might be helpful to share my experience as I have had IBS since my late teens. I am 64 now. I started as most people do with a weekly injection of .25 mg to start my body to get used to Ozempic. I thought at first that I had no side effects. This was not quite cor...

the "instructions" state that I take .25mg for 1st week and then .5mg thereafter. The graduations on the pen show nothing but dashes until you reach 1mg. the instructions also state that you can only take 1mg with this pen. wtf?

I have used drugs like Ozempic (I use Trulicity) for my Type 2 diabetes. Weight loss started almost immediately, and I lost 10 pounds the first month. The main side-effects are pretty noticeable heartburn. Not fun to experience! Also, I have learned to avoid fatty foods. I love prime rib, but if I eat it now, will get an immediate feeling of nausea and heartburn. Same with fried foods. Other than those minor inconveniences, it has kept my A1C below 7, which is my target, and my weight is back to my baseball-playing days! Good luck to you if you are trying this for weight loss!Read More Read Less

I am only on week 2 - .25 per week for two more weeks. I have heart burn. I can see how it has impacted my desire to eat or cravings. I am generally feeling full like I couldn't eat. I have made some choices more than what I could eat and it just gave me more heart burn.... I am excited - feel supported, am not obsessing about food or eating times, etc. still exercise and am just trusting the process.

I was at the 2.0 injection and the drugstore ran out. I was without it for a month. Doc said go ahead and take the 2.0 and it made me so sick I was up all night throwing up. Can’t eat and I busted my blood vessels in my face from throwing up so much. I am so sore. Just called my doctor to see what to do. This medicine is serious so be careful out there how you take it.

I also posted as caregiver for my DD. I am Carol, mother of Sue Anne. I too take ozempic and my reasons are a bit different. I have hypogycemia and was obese. The delayed digestion has been good for me. I used to get sick at my stomach and dizzy and have to eat all the time it seemed. I ended up at 195 and am about 5" 8". I am now at 148. I have had side effects unlike my DD but have stuck with it and will. I also have very bad flat feet that have broken down over the years so I could hardly walk, was heading for a wheelchair. with weight loss, I can now get around so much better. By the way I am 77. My worst problem is constipation, I have always had a problem so nothing new. but it has been really bad, I have used Miralax, and enemas. I have worked on my diet to try to help and it has some. The main issue I had was overeating because of hypoglycemia and I also like to eat, LOL! and the wrong stuff. It got rid of a lot of cravings and I eat less, but most anything I want. I can attest to the fact that if you eat to much you will get sick. In my case really sick, than I feel like I will vomit but don't. This has happened 4 or 5 times and I just quit eating to much, solved that problem. I also have gas, so I started taking a gas relief pill in the evening and stopped that. This is a good product, but like anything its no magic answer. You can't just take it and keep eating what you did and as much, it won't work and you will be sick. I too have never had to take more than .5mg per week. The last 2 months I've reduced to .25mg to help get rid of the constipation issue. I am still slowly losing some weight, hope to get to 145, but it has slowed down, which I expect. You have to work to make this medication work. Best thing that has happened for DD and I very pleased with the results.Read More Read Less

My DD and I both use ozempic. She is mildly mentally challenged with chronic afib, and was pre diabetic. At 5"3" she weighed 195. I talked to her doctors about helping her lose weight and of course they said diet and exercise. Not working with her, I just couldn't get her to do anything to change. So ozempic was prescribed by our endocrinologist. It has been more than a year now and she weighs 125 and has a normal BMI and takes no other drugs for diabetes. She never had a shot larger than .50 mg and is still on it as her glucose and other levels are and have remained normal. This has been the best thing in the world for her. She has not had the side effects other than some constipation that others have had. We talked to the PA last week and they suggested she stay on that dose as it is serving her well. She no longer craves all the sugary stuff she did before. Read More Read Less

Easy way to lose weight but not without its downfalls. Dropped 15 lbs in around 3-4 months Appetite low, can’t drink much alcohol without nausea/vomiting and hard to enjoy when you do. Do not enjoy foods normally would. Currently deal with stomach aches and profuse SI diarrhea.

54yo F, started 193. 8 weeks in 181. Few weeks of nausea in beginning. Bearable. Constipation still issue, take lax tea every few days before bed. Manageable. My BP went from 135/90 to 120/80 in 1 month! Life changing. I'm not always starving, just feel like a normal person. I make better food choices because I don't have cravings. Near alcoholic, I've lost most of my interest in alcohol. If I do drink, I have 1 or 2 and am done. Unheard of for me. I hope to stay on this for life. It isn't a miracle drug, but it is close, for me.Read More Read Less

I am on month 2 with Ozempic. Gas and Burping was/is common, especially with high caloric intake. Two other side effects that are alittle more problematic - trouble swallowing - if I drink more water, this subsides. Numbness in my left hand. I wasn't sure if it was due to something else, but when I checked side effects, numbness is alittle less common but does happen. I'm going to reduce my dosage back to .25 because I didn't have the numbness or trouble swallowing then. I'm down 31 lbs since March and have another 45 to go.Read More Read Less

It works to bring numbers down but side effects to me are not worth it. I rarely get headaches but within 12 hours have massive headache that lasts a day, very gassy, nausea to point of vomiting, acid reflux, indigestion, tired and severe diarrhea for 12 hours. Basically take Saturday evening and do nothing for Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. NOTE..I rarely get side effects from medications so these are way too many for me..will not take again.

It makes me very sick to my stomach with excessive burping and some gas. I often feel like throwing up and have when I started on the 1mg dose. I am extremely afraid of the most noted side effects.

I started on .25 mg and a diet plan at the same time (Noom) and joined the gym. I had very mild GI effects the first week (sore tummy, heartburn) but no nausea or anything else. After 4 weeks on that dose, I had lost 8 pounds so I decided to just stay on .25 and continue with the diet/exercise plan. 12 weeks later, down 24 total pounds and no side effects and still on .25 mg. If it works at .25, there is no reason to increase the dose and get all those side effects.

I was miserable chronic constipation, nausea, and gained 11.5kg!!! Now I have anemia, fatigue, heart problems, and after a year of Dr insisting I stick with it, I've come off it and the Dr said I was an oddity because I didn't lose weight on it.

Type 2, overweight and physically challenged, 80 and still farm as much as possible. Don't eat "junk" food, no processed, grow and raise most of our own and cook homemade meals. Ozempic is made to slow down the digestive system and make you feel full and most doctors don't realize that doesn't work for everyone it changes the G.I.'s natural behavior. I started small doses had some side effects was put on full dose and the third week I had most of the side effects this is the 5th day and I've eaten a little more but my body is trying to "reprogram" it's self from days of diarrhea, vomiting. I've done pretty good controlling my diabetes so I won't be using this again .Read More Read Less

So the good news is that it works. I’ve been taking at the lowest dose .25 for almost 8 weeks. I’ve lost 15lbs. and all interest in food or alcohol. Not caring or even thinking about food or your next meal and not worrying about how you will resist food is incredibly freeing. The bad news is the side effects. After a shot, I feel so tired. Twice now I’ve had terrible diarrhea, which happened the two times I injected myself in the stomach instead of my thigh. Also had some mild nausea and horrible sulfuric burps. So far, it’s still worth it if the side effects can be managed but they’re no joke. I’m unlikely to increase my dose at this point bc I think the side effects would be unmanageable. Another downside is that it makes is challenging in some ways to change your diet bc I don’t want anything, much less extra veggies or a salad. I actually started worrying about how little I wanted to eat. Read More Read Less

I’ve been taking the medication for a few months now and am down 30 lbs. I’ve always ate healthy but struggle with portion control. This helped reduce my appetite. I never felt any side effects, only reduced appetite. I was 398 lbs and am now 368. My goal is to lower my weight bellow 300 and hopefully see an improvement on my hypertension.
