Having read many threads on this forum I havn`t read any from users who also suffer with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) so I thought it might be helpful to share my experience as I have had IBS since my late teens. the "instructions" state that I take .25mg for 1st week and then .5mg thereafter. The graduations on the pen show nothing but dashes until you reach 1mg. the instructions also state that you can only take 1mg with this pen. wtf?

I have been on the medicine for 10 weeks. started 2 wks at .25 and maintaining dose of .5. don't know a1c effect due to not getting blood test til next month, but the overall use of the medicine has been positive. I was 315lbs, now I am 303. I find my appetite is not like it used to be. no cravings, when I eat, after I eat 1/2 my usual portion, I am full. Digestion is slower. I took a couple wks for the medicine to kick in to get my brain on board with the size of my portions and the first week I ate too much and it gave me the runs, and one day that I totally pigged out on mcdonalds and pizza i had both runs and nausea. Have not had a recurrence since. I am not hungry, I eat what I want, although, when I eat too much sugar, my glucose spikes...duh. It doesn't stop you from making stupid decisions if you make them with smaller portions. Overall i like how it is helping me with my weight and that can only have a positive affect on my a1c and blood pressure. I have had to use prune juice a couple times but i am getting used to only 1x/day BM instead of my normal 2 when I ate too much. I have no other side affects, I feel great, I have more energy and am hopeful that I can lose weight without even trying. It feels like a miracle. I have been in the 300's since 2012. I have tried weight watchers and others but I always felt hungry and so sabotaged my diet or program. I am so excited to be in the 200's soon. I have a needle phobia so at first I delayed taking because I was afraid of sticking myself. I put mine in the flab that is under my arm. alternating one arm one week and the other the next. just put my arm on table with flab rolled forward and stick it press, hold and done. I don't feel it at all. i picked arm cuz reviews showed those who use in belly have more GI issues. could be imaginary, but i figured its easier in my arm anyway and I can do anywhere. I then shake my arm, pat the fat and do some air punches to get it not to stay in one area cuz I fear it will hurt if it doesnt dissapate...thats my own hypothesis. Anyway.... good luck. I will report back on my A1c. btw, I am a 59 yr old woman, actve, no unmanaged health prob except diabetes and weight. I am not sedentary, I have tried to walk at least a 1/2 mile 5x/wk but goal up to 5mi a day like I used to. Knees bug me with all the weight, but getting easier.Read More Read Less

At first, I experienced a little nausea, but not enough to want me to stop the drug. I started losing weight almost immediately and with no exercise. In total I lost 50 pounds with watching my diet. I have spinal issues so exercising is difficult for me. My A1c has dropped to 5.3. I am hoping to lose more weight, another 30 or 40 pounds would be nice. I have been able to maintain my weight loss and I am happy with the results so far.

I've tried Metformin, I had terrible side effects, I tried Bydureon, devloped nodules at each injection site. My doctor tried me on Ozempic, had a 3 month coupon, lost weight, A1C dropped. I was happy. Now I can't afford it. With insurance, it's over $600!!!

It really helps me. A couple of weeks of heartburn at first, but once I learned that I wasn't really hungry every 3 hours, the heartburn stopped. I was able to change my diet and I have lost 25 pounds in 5 months. My A1C is better and mid-day BGL is fine. I wish this had been available years ago.

It has been a year ago since I started taking Ozempic. It was the final solution to a never ending problem with my blood sugar. I was already taking Metformin, Gliclazide and Invokana, but no matter how I tried to eat better, exercised, nothing was happening. My blood sugar was still rising. At one point my blood sugar went up to 11 and it has never been that high before. So my G.P. referred me to an Endocrinologist. The first thing he did was order a blood test and review all my medications. Finally, because I was taking the maximum dosage on all the other meds, he asked me to try Ozempic. At first I was hesitant because he explained that I had to inject myself once a week (and I hate needles), but that this was not insulin. He said try this medication or I’ll start you on insulin. I would rather try other medication before submitting to a life of insulin everyday. He was very candid about the side effects of this medication, 3 to 6 weeks of uncomfortable side effects, but it will all go away eventually. He said if the side effects doesn’t go away after 6 weeks, to give him a call and he can change it to something else. Well, I persevered, but I will be brutally honest to whoever will be reading this review, you will be miserable and sick and wished to God it would end. I had nausea, vomitting, headaches, lightheadedness, diarrhea, and so many other physical discomfort that I kept telling myself it will be all worth it. I was ILL, so ill that at one point I couldn’t get out of bed. So if you are willing to risk taking this drug, then make sure to take a leave of absence from your workplace because you will end up calling in sick A LOT! I was fortunate enough to be off work, so all the horrible side effects didn’t affect my job. Ozempic is my saving grace. The journey was not easy, but my results are shown on my blood test and urine test. To date my A1C is 5.2 and I’ve lost 39 lbs.My diet went from CRAP to healthy.Read More Read Less

I was already on Trulicity with little results. I had very little side effects; actualyy fely a little fatigued and a little stomach upset initially with the 0.5 mg dose. Mostly my numbers are great unless I really eat bad; but I noticed on the daily graphs on my Freesyle Libre that there are far less spikes than I usually have and my numbers come down faster to normal after eating.

I have had 5 pens that quit working. It will not move to the desired dose. Pens are cheap and worthless. They don't have extra pens you have to get another prescription. Going to something else.

I started Oz in December due to Type 2 and obesity. I've lost 11 pounds so far and my A1C dropped one point at my January check-up. I am very pleased with this medication. The injection does not hurt and I have not had any sickness from it. Some people do, but not everyone. There are many who do not get sick from it. This stuff is working well for me and my doctor was very pleased!

Love Ozempic! I tried several things that just didn't work, making me physically and mentally sick. A1C was over 9.0, now controlled around 5.6 Lost over 50lbs in 1 year without trying. Experiencing a change in insurance to Kaiser and am concerned since Kaiser does not cover Ozempic. Ozempic was a life changer and do not want to go through a year of "lets see what medicine will work for you" and deal with side effects. Wish me luck!

Best medication for type 2. The only draw back if you don't have a drug plan expensive. If you can get this drug.you are worth it. Little sore stomach at first

Having read many threads on this forum I havn`t read any from users who also suffer with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) so I thought it might be helpful to share my experience as I have had IBS since my late teens. I am 64 now. I started as most people do with a weekly injection of .25 mg to start my body to get used to Ozempic. I thought at first that I had no side effects. This was not quite correct though as I believed I was experiencing low level IBS which was not unusual for me. However I began to notice this was happening more often than usual. What actually seemed to be happening was that I was not having a direct side effect, but the Ozempic was actually triggering IBS events. This became much more obvious when I moved on to the next dosage level of 0.5 mg. The effects began between 24 and 48 hours and these were high level (severe) IBS events which lasted for 3 - 4 days when I got very severe stomach cramps constant diarrhea with fecal incontinence when sleeping requiring making a nappy out of a bath towel for at least 2 nights. On the 3rd week of the 3rd month the effect happened only hours after the injection. when I started the 4th month I had no IBS reaction, other than a few sulphur burps and this is how it has remained. It was a very unpleasant 3 months but I pushed on because of the promised benefits. Four months on and no unpleasant side effects. The results seem to be very good and I am really pleased that I stayed with it, I was getting near to the point of wondering if all effects were going to be worth it. So my advice if you also have IBS is stay with it as long as you can, for me it was hugely successful in the end, even though it was a very unpleasant road getting there.Read More Read Less
