Am taking Latuda for bipolar. Latuda is a wonderful drug which has given me my life back from bipolar. One small problem: it has given me tardive dyskinesia. My teeth chatter and my tongue moves constantly. It's exhausting and very unattractice, let me say. I don't want to give up the Latuda. Ingrezza has stopped 95% of the trembling. I'm left with minimal trembles and jaw shaking, but of c...

Very sedating had to skip nights per speciality pharmacy. Wasn't functioning in the day. Was only on 40 mg I couldn't tear up. Tired, drowsy, clumsy. Not appropriate for mild tardive dyskinesia. The sleepiness side effect is a lot worse than the mild dyskinesia. So I tried stopping and was extremely disappointed to learn that withdrawal worsens it to a severe and very painful level. Now I am forced to take it every day. Plus my insurance company Medicaid can discontinue coverage any time because it is not on their formulary. So I have to go the rest of my life under threat of extremely severe pain unless I take Ingrezza.

This drug made things worse I started coughing up blood every morning and was killing me with all the other medications I was taking. This was one of the worst drug I took. No longer take it. My face movements have stop with out it including all the other medications. Biggest mistake ever. I feel way better without it and alot healthier than ever. No one should take this or any other medication.

I have an extreme form of Tardive Dystonia (full body, occasionally resulting in complete disability) with Functional Movement Disorder. Initially I was diagnosed with garden-variety Tardive Dyskenesia, and this was one of the first things tried. This disease was caused by the side effects of over decade of antipsychotics, first Aripiprazole, then Olanzipine, then Ziprasidone. The movements can be extremely violent. My experience with valbenazine was shortly after I received my initial diagnosis, and while I went on the medication in an already turbulent time, I immediately became suicidal after starting the medicine. I have had suicidal thoughts every day for over a decade, but I immediately became actively suicidal, which is very atypical for me. Upon cessation of the medication this faded. I also had to repair some damage done to my walls from incoherent hysteria that it induced. This is also out of character and clearly was a causative effect of this drug. I believe I was on this med for 3 days because of the immediate severity of the reaction. It was certainly less than a week.Read More Read Less

I'm left with minimal trembles and jaw shaking, but of course, I want ALL of it gone. I might have to accept the 5%. Went to find blog for this but it's such a new drug, there isn't one yet! When there is one, I will join with people who consider it a wonder drug for the tardive dyskesia.Read More Read Less

Ingrezza is not working for me. I began Ingrezza as prescribed 40mg capsule one time a day for 30 days. On the 31 day I began 80mg Ingrezza one time a day. I have been on Ingrezza now for 48 days and I do not see any improvement at all with my abnormal movements of my tongue. In fact I have become worse since I went off the first meds that were prescribed to me for before I began Ingrezza. The other meds were 1. a benzodiazepine type drug, and the other gabapentin taken each day prescribed dose. That I am aware of the average retail price for once single capsule of 80mg Ingrezza at cost for one capsule is $210.00 each. Though I have no co-pay at the moment this very expensive Ingrezza it's average retail price you would think this a wonder drug and it would work but it does not. Read More Read Less

Husband fell 15 yrs ago and diagnosed with TBI FRONTAL LOBAL (forehead) due to reasoning and judgment was gone. Apparently, he was bipolar most of his life. He was 19 y/o as a Huey helicopter pilot and later became a computer systems analyst. On 5/14/05, he intended to save $450 to keep a tree man from coming later and attempted to trim his 3rd tree while reaching up and over with an extended chain saw pole. He fell 20ft and crushed a lot of his body with additional temp blindness. So, after his rehab we have been to many doctors and most were a failure for complaints of many behavioral conditions to include: sudden outburst, violent behavior or verbal threats, throwing objects, disillusion, lack of empathy, and more detachment from his adult children. It's difficult to be around the violence. As his wife, caring for him has almost killed me since I had stage 3 thyroid cancer. Some docs wanted him in a nursing home and I refused since not his prior wishes. Few doctors denied nursing home care due to most down hill outcomes and adequate care was at home. In last 6 mos, I pleaded with a psychiatrist to explore other options besides seizure meds which made his behavioral extreme and worse. He takes Xanax 3x 20mg & Nuexdexta 2x 20mg, but not targeting his verbal threats in afternoon. Changing his psy made a huge difference since he was more aggressive in treatment. INGREZZA was given for the following reasons: involuntary movements of body by decreasing certain natural substances in his brain affecting how nerves work together. It has been the most beneficial meds for his behavior!!! Side effects have been drowsiness & dizziness, but this med has very few side effects compared to Lithium and others. His metabolism does't work like a regular person. Therefore, this med was all he needed without adding Lithium that can cause serious kidney failure which my husband had few years ago and almost died. INGREZZA HAS FEW SIDE EFFECTS & AMAZING RESULTS!!! THANKS! Read More Read Less
