Had a complete hysterectomy in 2001. Dr. prescribed cenestin and I was on it for 7 years. Maybe it worked for hot flashes, etc. however, I wish I would have never heard of this drug because in 2008, with no symptoms or problems that I knew of, I had a CAT scan for another issue and a tumor was found on my pelvic wall which was approx. 5 inches mass. Had two major surgeries after I was diagnosed wi...

I had total hysterectomy in 2004. Patches didn't work. Cenestin was the best. No hot flashes, night sweats, felt wonderful. Now the Company isn't making it any more. I have tried Several others and have no luck. Aching joints, fatigue, hot flashes and night sweats. I am not on anything and am very miserable.

After a complete hysterectomy putting me into surgical menopause, I tried so many different medications, patches included, I can't remember what they were. At one point I gained 25 lbs. in a month. My doctor had me try Cenestin. It was a god send. I was able to lose weight, my hot flashes were managed and I had no side effects. Now, after about 10 years it is no longer available, and with no warning! I have been on Estradiol for about three months and don't care for it. I have intense hot flashes, headaches, achey joints, and gained 10 pounds. I wish they'd bring Cenestin back. Read More Read Less

I HAD BEEN TAKING CENESTIN FOR 13 YEARS WITH GREAT RESULTS. THEN I COULD NOT GET IT ANYMORE AND I WAS PUT ON PREMARIN. AFTER ONLY A FEW WEEKS MY HAIR WAS FALLING OUT, BRITTLE NAILS, 7/24 HEARTBURN SO I HAD TO TAKE PRILOSEC. I STOPPED THE PREMARIN AND NOW HAVE HOT FLASHES ALL THE TIME. WISH THEY WOULD BRING IT BACK AGAIN.

After my hysterectomy 10 yrs. ago, I was prescribed Cenestin 0.9 mg. It's worked great, no hot flashes, mood swings, or weight gain. I'm very unhappy that it's being discontinued. Not sure what I will do now. Is there any OTC medication comparable to Cenestin made from the Mexican yam plant?

I've used Cenestin .625 since 1999 and have loved it. I've felt great! I just found out today that the manufacturer Teva is no longer making it. I'm not sure what I'm going to do now. I hope there's something else out there that gives me the same benefits.

Had two major surgeries after I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer and I didn't even have a uterus or ovaries. However the biopsy revealed those types of cancer. I had 18 months of chemo and still go every 8 weeks for a CA-125 blood test to ensure the cancer is not returning. I firmly believe the cenestin caused the cells to turn cancerous in my body as I had no cancer with the hysterectomy in 2001. NOw that they have gene testing, I decided to get that blood work done and I tested positive for the gene that causes these types of cancers. I think if a doctor is going to put you on this type of hormone, please get a gene test first as I do believe the cenestin caused all of my issues and I nearly died. I recommend over the counter meds before I recommend any type of hormone treatment no matter how bad your hot flashes may be, it is a lot better than going through cancer and chemo.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Cenestin 1.25mg after my radical hysterectomy. I never had any issues or side effects with this drug; that is my litmus test for satisfaction. Now, it has become unavailable. Sigh. My doctor substituted Premarin. Premarin's deductible was HUGE - three times that of Cenestin. And I've read all the side effects of Premarin and they're frightening, including dark spots on face! (I think I'm calling my doctor today and getting something else.)

Love this drug. It's the only one that works for me. I went through surgical menopause at 35 and am on the 1.25 dosage. Couldn't live without it.

Reports of Cenestin being discontinued are inaccurate. First I checked with the FDA and it is not on the discontinued list (6 months warning required). The FDA gave me the manufacturer's phone number, so I called Teva today. The 1.25 mg tablets are temporarily unavailable, Teva did not know when the 1.25 dose would be available. However Teva said the smaller dosage tablets are available (.3 and .45 mg).

The 1.25mg strength is the only drug that has stopped my heart flashes. the .09 mg did nothing. Have been taking 1.25 of Cenestin for years w/o a problem!

Cenestin works very well for me in every way,but the price seems excessively high.It was the only medication that gave me no side effects, and it gave me wonderful results. I actually felt better than normal.

I had a hysterectomy 15 years ago and have been on Cenenstin since. I just recently stopped taking them,I was concerned about the length of time I have been on them and things have been horrible since I stopped, nite sweats, hot flashes, mood swings and NO desire. I'm ready to go back to taking them again. It worked wonders for me!

It worked on my hot flashes within two weeks, after a few more weeks I began to have severe breast tenderness and trouble breathing. Had to be tested for possible blood clot. The test was negative but it still makes me nervous to think about continued use.

I started taking this the first day after my hysterectomy and have been on it for several years now and have never had any negative side effects nor have I ever experienced any menopausal symptoms.
