Hey, this medication is considered safe for up to 2 WEEKS. You should not be using it for longer than that unless you have exhausted every other safer option. Most notably diet. And don't ever trust that your doctor knows what's best for you, every doctor makes a mistake in his/her career and many do almost every day due to ignorance or inattentiveness. If you've been on a solid diet designed t...
Made me very sick, after looking up the main ingredient polyethylene glycol, it makes me wonder?? The two ingredients in antifreeze are ethylene glycol, and propylene glycol which are also used in some dog treats as a preservative, and gave my dog seizures, the names sounds too close and in the same class, VERY SCARY!!!

Noticed progressive neurological, joint and muscle pain. Headaches became unbearable. Almost bedridden. Symptoms identical to Fibromyalgia diagnosed over ten years ago, caused by SOY allergen. Thank God I had blood testing for Soy and have not had symptoms of Fibromyalgia until using Miralax. The product worked beautifully for me EXCEPT for all the side effects. I wish there was/is an answer to chronic constipation. I now use two Senna twice a day, a good size mixed greens salad with a goodly amount of various raw vegetables and prunes/prune juice. Walking daily is a must.Read More Read Less

I was placed on polyethylene glycol 3350 and an opioid the same day, and that was years ago. The one liquid it doesn't mix well with is milk. That may be because my milk has always been very cold; I don't know. It has been a bit difficult transitioning off of it as I transitioned off of opioids when they stopped working.

I am an amputee veteran and have been on methadone for multiple years for a long term pain medication in my bones, and Opiate Induced Constipation was a big problem for years untill i was recently perscribed this medication and it did wonders for me the 1st day relieving the bowels and takeing the internal pressure of my body. It was smooth and mixed well in my ginger ale and it has no flavor to notice. I have much more activity and relief and recommend it to anyone suffering from Opiate Induced Constipation. (OIC).Read More Read Less

This didn't work for me. I need to take this before my colonoscopy. I had an allergic reaction...neck tightened and shortness of breath within 5 minutes of drinking the first 8 ounces. Had to go to ER.

I have suffered constipation all my life, including childhood. Doctor prescribed polyethylene glycol 3350 NF six years ago and I have not been constipated since unless I forget to take it. I dissolve it my stirring into warm water first thing every morning and always make sure to follow that up with another cup of liquid within the next hour or so.

Developed constipation due to a daily regiment of pain meds. I took it daily at first, but backed off because it gave me the runs. Now, taking it every 2-3 days is working well.

I'm on meds since heart-surgery 2 years ago that are causing me constipation. I have also had a few incidents of Diverticulitis. so it is important for me to have easy bowl-movements. I was prescribed MiraLAX 2T w 2gl water once a.d. taken at night as in the morning I take most of my meds and supplements.I have been concerned since I have now taken PEG for over a year and it sais to only use for 7 days? I had some incidents of blurry vision, once severely! also itchy skin on my arms but no visible rash? an increase in brain-fog and forgetting words. some shortness of breath, vertigo and problems sleeping through the night. very disturbing dreams. ....I am normally calm and happy, keep very active both mentally and physically, ok in dealing with stress. These reactions are greatly disturbing so I have decided to try to wean myself off this PEG. hope to God the symptoms are reversible. Can this PEG permeate through the gut? to the brain or other organs? I would very much like to hear from other users with adverse symptoms to find out if they are better after quitting PEG. Took recommended dosage of 1x daily by doctor instruction. took it for several weeks, Produced gas, abdominal distension and nausea. Seemed to relax the colon and did not allow fecal matter to move even after much straining. When there was movement, it was very soft but very small results. Not effective for me.

Difficult to time recommended dosages in order to treat chronic constipation due to lag time between beginning treatment and loose bowel movement. Long term usage studies at varying dosage level are needed. Get gas buildup after 4-5 days use while sedentary that results in bowel pain/irritation.

I had bowel surgery and was fine for ten years then I needed emergency surgical removal of an ovary and after that I had a lot of difficulty going to the bathroom to the point I was potentially undoing the repairs from my first surgery from straining so my doc put me on this once a day and I can go normally again although I do get cramping, occasional stomach aches and gas. At least I can function normally

Loss of appetite, stomach pain, bloated, gas, dry mouth, all over skin itches, breathing shallow, more difficulty swallowing, no bm for 8 days! I think this medicine made it worse, I would not recommend it. I rather stick with prunes/prune juice which causes n side effect and is 100% more safe/effective....

I have been taking this medication for years. Because my constipation problems were so severe, my doctor has me taking it twice a day instead of once. Once a day did not work for me but taking it twice a day gave me some improvement. My problem was severe enough that I have to take it twice a day and I also take Amitiza twice a day! Finally, I am getting good results!
