Hey, this medication is considered safe for up to 2 WEEKS. You should not be using it for longer than that unless you have exhausted every other safer option. Most notably diet. And don't ever trust that your doctor knows what's best for you, every doctor makes a mistake in his/her career and many do almost every day due to ignorance or inattentiveness. Made me very sick, after looking up the main ingredient polyethylene glycol, it makes me wonder?? The two ingredients in antifreeze are ethylene glycol, and propylene glycol which are also used in some dog treats as a preservative, and gave my dog seizures, the names sounds too close and in the same class, VERY SCARY!!!

was prescribed 17g per day... i tried about 2g to start with... and to be fair, it does empty the Bowel... absolutely nonstop for about three days straight... i ended up with a terrible case of bleeding hemorrhoids by the end of it... that have now been with me for years after and only getting worse... so much that i just went to the proctologist to see about getting them fixed... the first thing he did was say i needed a Colonoscopy and prescribed me, guess what, whats right, more Prolylene Glycol, only instead of 14 or even 2 grams per day, he wants me to take 420 grams in a day... needless to say i cancelled the appointment, tossed the new Propylene Glycol prescription in the garbage bin, and am looking for a new proctologist. Combined with a high fiber diet, hydration, coffee and exercise, using low dosage PG3350 has helped me effectively manage chronic constipation. Dosage ranges from none to 1/2 cap daily with morning coffee. It's a delicate balance based on level of activity, stress and the prior day's meals. My constipation symptoms started years before being diagnosed with Rapid Eye Movement Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD) in 2011. There are many causes of constipation, although neurodegenerative conditions evolving over time may involve constipation, sleep disturbance and loss of smell developing decades prior to a clinical diagnosis. Hello, around 10:40 am yesterday, I took LAXACLEAR (generic for POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL 335) along with a glass of water. After taking it, I felt drowsy right away and dozed out for around two hours. Around 7 o'clock, I started feeling tight in my neck and shoulders, and by 9:45, it was becoming worse. abrupt nausea, dizziness, headache, and a desire to pass out were the initial symptoms. I stayed in bed hoping it would get better, but I had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. I started drinking a lot of water during the night, but I was still unable to fall asleep and my headache also got worse. The palpitations stop this Moring around 11. I do not currently get palpitations; however, I do have a very dry throat and headaches. My body doesn't feel right, I thought it might have damaged my head in some way. To keep my system clean, I continue to drink as much liquid as I can. If you must take it, I urge you to do it with lots of water! For the record I am not on any type of medication and this was my second time in three days. Thank you. Read More Read Less

I used opiodes for pain management and constipation is an unfortunate side effect. I could go days of not over a week without a bowel movement. And when i do my stool is rock hard and is painful to pass, or (because i have IBS) i get very bad and debilitating cramps before a bowel movement that usually ends up the opposite of constipation poops. Bad diarhea! (Iknow, TMI.) Ive tried laxatives and oh my gosh they are horrible. Gave me thee worst cramps and then i couldn't be far from a toilet for very long either. No way. Not for me. Once i found and tried Myralax everything change..... for the better. As soon as started using it (polyethylene glycol) I now have regular and frequent bowel movements. They pass easily are soft and are complete bowel movements, too. No pain. No massive diarrhea. Just normal everyday soft complete bowel movements. My Dr even prescribes it to me now so i can save money through insurance. I drink a lot of water. In fact, I only drink water. No soda or stuff like that. So what i do is put a cap full in a huge water bottle everyday. Its not a full dose compared to how much water its in, but enough that i go daily and easily but not too much ir diarrhea like. Just normal. Too much of it can cause a constant need to poop sometimes not even a full bowel movement either. Not diarrhea but nit regular either. Use as needed and you'll be happy with the results. Don't overdo it though. Read More Read Less

If you've been on a solid diet designed to help your bowels move, with high FIBER (not carbs, you need whole/unprocessed grains and fruit), 6-8 glasses of water, and small amounts of natural laxatives and bowel stimulants like prune juice and coffee, and you still can't have a bowel movement once a day then there's either something more serious going on or you're one of the very few people in the world who have a naturally slow colon (very very few, most people who have chronic constipation aren't getting enough of the right nutrients or water or have a more serious problem going on.) If you take this medication for more than that 'safe' period of time you will permanently disturb your bowels. You will from then on NEED the medication to have bowel movements and be on it for the rest of your life. And as time goes on you will need more and more to be effective. And, that's right, the more you take the more side effects you'll get. This medication causes constipation in the long time and can cause diarrhea and horrendous stomach cramps. And that's my experience with the medication. Stomach cramps and nausea for the 7 days I was taking it then diarrhea for 3 days and then constipation for 4 more days. I've had constipation issues for over 20 years and I find it's much less painful and much less disruptive to my bowel cycles to try and work up a bowel movement another way. It also tends to be more satisfying. Take care all and be well.Read More Read Less

As a child I often had painful constipation. After being diagnosed with Crohn's disease 20 yrs. ago, my physician prescribed Miralax. The Crohn's went into remission after 1 yr. and never returned, and went off the Crohn's medication too.. I've used this medication for 20 years with no side effects. I have regular bowel movements every day--no diarrhea and no constipation. Guess I'm lucky.

Just changed to this supplier (Kremers Urban) and it is nothing like the old supplier. Espress Script must have changed the supplier to Kremers for costs, but it is not working.

Chronic constipation my entire life from childhood. First introduced to PEG by Rx during prep for colonoscopy 5 years ago. Very impressed. Then found it in LaxaClear at Costco when doctor prescribed it for 2-yr-old granddaughter. Find it very effective, when taken daily. But even missing one dose locks my bowels. Also found missing 3-4 doses starts intense itching of feet from withdrawal symptoms. Satisfaction needs finding the right balance between dependence and regular comfortable BMs. Still haven't found it. But when I take it, it works. Daily exercise walking and climbing stairs, and drinking plenty of water are also critical for success. I like to take it with fruit juices, or splash some lemon concentrate with it in water. I'm also cautious about taking it within 1-2 hrs of my other BP meds. Never had a problem, just cautions, based mostly on its off-putting industrial-sounding name. So far, after 4+ years of use, have not identified any adverse side effects, other than feet itching from missing multiple doses. Also get withdrawal feet itching when stopping antihistamines, so individual experience will likely be as different as people are. You may get good results with fewer doses than daily. Overall, very satisfied, just wish I could get good results from fewer doses, like weekly instead of daily. Read More Read Less

Constipation and straining during bowel movements caused my hemorroids to act up. Usually, they healed with preparation H, but this time the problem was more persistent. My GI prescribed me this drug and it worked like a charm. I was first kind of afraid of the industrial sounding name, but within a day of taking this drug, I was having at least two comfortable bowel movements per day and my hemorroids got a chance to heal. One huge plus is that unlike stimulant laxatives that can almost give you diarrhea, this drug just made my stool softer and easier to pass.Read More Read Less

Suspected that incomplete BM's may be responsible for stomach discomfort, which typically morphed to headaches. After 10 days it appears to be the case. Most pleased. Other laxatives may work, as well.

It helps with my constipation. I take this medication at night and sometimes i have this nagging cough and chocking and i don't know if this medication would cause this annoying problem. So i was wondering if anyone else had this problem.
