I have been on a .05 estrogen patch for 9 years since I had a complete hysterectomy at age 41. I was put on it immediately after surgery so I really didn't have much chance to have any menopausal symptoms. At first they had me on a 1.0 patch which made my eyeballs bulge or swell. It was too much & so I had them lower the dose. I have really not had any bad side effects except maybe headache...

This patch caused a burn on my arm, I had the patch on for two days and it began to burn, when I took the patch off it hurt tremendously and it actually peeled skinned off. I still after ten days of being off the patch still have a noticable burn mark there.

My experience has been amazing! My hot flashes were severe, up to 20 times per day I would get them, I would turn beet red from head down to my waist( I looked like I had sunburn for about 2 to 3 minutes)people could not believe how red and hot I would get.I had results within a couple days of starting Vival dot, and a couple of weeks later no more hot flashes! I do take this along with 100mg of Pegestrone per day. I have been on this for 10 months now and just recently I have been experiencing itching at the location of where ever the patch is. I am womdering if the manufacture has changed the adhesive on the patch...I and going to look into that. Read More Read Less

using 0.025 vivelle dot patch for low estrogen and associated severe PMS. Feel a lot better, mood swings have subsided considerably. the patch is tiny, and had no problems with it staying on. the only side effect is that I have not had a period since I started taking it. Before that, it was like clockwork.

I am 52 and have used this patch for 17 years due to total hysterectomy. Started on .1, but had breast tenderness so changed to .075. This has worked great for me in the past but have developed terrible migraines the day after putting on a new patch due to hormone surge. I will be trying oral pill in hopes of controlling migraine.

Long time user of Estraderm patch (1978+, Thanks Dalkon Shield!). Loved it! Vivelle was my alternative. Hard to apply (if you have hard time with eyesight). Also I found that in summer when you sweat...it moves! Still had night sweats and mood swings with this product. It is alot more expensive than Estraderm...yet made by same company. Due to issues with Vivelle, I have gone back to oral meds. Sooo much preferred the patches.

Although my energy has increased, it wasn't worth trading that for significant short term memory issues that developed. I am on a comb.of estradiol 0.05 patch, and progesterone capsules.

I have been on Vivelle for 11 years. I started with .1 immediately after a total hysterectomy.Dropped back to .025 within 2 years. Would have occasional minor night sweat, but no other side effects! Tried to wean off and had horrible flashes, sweats and insomnia;returned to .025 today..I am so thankful. Weight is hard to keep off and I always want to lose 10lbs. but am happy that I now will be able to sleep. I am 59.

I started on the 0.025 mg patch plus 100 mg/day progesterone daily after some years of Premarin + prometrium every 3 months (which I was happy with, but my Dr was concerned about its use long term and I had stopped having periods). Since going on these new meds, I have gained some weight quite quickly (strange, as this didn't really happen with Premarin) and worst of all I feel terrible - awful fatigue, to the point that I feel terrified driving, and hot ALL THE TIME, with flashes of burning heat throughout the day.Read More Read Less

after trying many different HRT, vivelle dot has been the only medication that has relieved me of the hot flashes. it's been almost 8 years and almost 50 yrs old. concerned with long term risks, heart attack, blod clots, primarily. will ck with my dr to discuss, but the medication has been such a blessing for relief of the hot flashes.

Started having several hot flashes an hour and was losing sleep over it. Began applying the 0.1 patch and hot flashes were gone before the first week. However, I started experiencing dizzy/faint spells which begin with a weird feeling of my throat closing up then my heart thuds and I get breathless and really dizzy and have to sit down and close my eyes. This has happened several times a day since my 4th or 5th day on the patch. It passes quickly though, as long as it's not dangerous I'll take the dizzy spells over the hot flashes. I do have a genetic heart condition too though which could be coincidentally causing me problems but I've never been dizzy before using the patch. If I start to gain weight though, the patch will be history! I am a person who takes no medication unless absolutely necessary. Most medicine works very quickly on me and I know pretty soon if there are any side effects because I my body is super sensitive to new things. Read More Read Less

I had a total hysterectomy 6 weeks ago and have horrible hot flashes, anxiety and insomnia. My GYN started me on 0.5 and I put a patch on last night. I was hoping for a miracle but I did not notice one bit of difference. Perhaps I am too inpatient. I will give it a couple of weeks to see if this is the patch for me.

I have been on this medicine for 12 years with great results. The only negative is the weight gain - 20 lbs in the first 2 years and can not get rid of it no matter what I have tried - still better than hot flashes.

After 4 years trying to deal with uncontrollable mood swings and hot flashes that continued to get worse (actually felt like my hairline was blistering) my doctor prescribed the dot. Within hours I felt amazing. I could actually see me again. Happy smiling and no hot flashes. Lost about 4lbs the first week because I really enjoy doing things again. So far best thing to happen to me in years

I have used the Dot since May of 2011, after haveing a full hysterectomy. I am having Hallucinations almost every night. I am 48.I've told my Dr about them, asking if the Dot would cause the HALLUCINATIONS. He says no. Help please... I am tired, weight gain, and guess I'm a bit depressed. AND the Dr. knows all of this. However I need these hallucination to stop. Has anyone had this happen, while using the DOT?
