I have been on a .05 estrogen patch for 9 years since I had a complete hysterectomy at age 41. I was put on it immediately after surgery so I really didn't have much chance to have any menopausal symptoms. At first they had me on a 1.0 patch which made my eyeballs bulge or swell. It was too much & so I had them lower the dose. I have really not had any bad side effects except maybe headache...

This patch caused a burn on my arm, I had the patch on for two days and it began to burn, when I took the patch off it hurt tremendously and it actually peeled skinned off. I still after ten days of being off the patch still have a noticable burn mark there.

Two weeks after a total hysterectomy, I tried the Vivelle-Dot 0.05mg and stopped within the first day due to severe migraine and nausea. Frequency of hot flashes may have decreased slightly.

I have common migraines brought on by menopause so my Dr. want me to try the patch to help control my migraines. Once I started the patch and the Dr. gave me the correct mg of the patch my migraines all but stopped. My migraines controlled my life for 16 yrs. I have a migraine once in a while but they no longer control my life. I am very happy with the results and have been on the patch now for two years.

I have been on this medicine since 2000 after total hysterectomy and ovaries. I have had great results and have tried to wean off several times unsuccessfully. Without this med I have joint pain, extreme fatigue, mood swings, foggy, and basically non- functional. My Dr. has told me to stay on it for a good quality of life verses being miserable. Weight gain is problematic.

I had a hysterectomy 15 years ago but still had my ovaries. Back in 2008, I began experiencing Menopause symptoms and have been using the Vivelle dot patch for almost 5 years now. I had severe hot flashes, etc. and finally decided to start this as other OTC products did not work for me. I have loved the results as far as controlling my severe hot flashes; however, about 9 months ago my doctor had to increase my dosage to .75 and although I had already experienced some weight gain, I have had a significant amount of belly weight gain. This past Friday, I decided to take myself off cold turkey to see if I could get rid of some of my weight. I have already started with some hot flashes. I sure hope I can stick it out and see what happens.Read More Read Less

I had primary amenorrhea and was put on the patch to avoid osteoperosis and to kickstart my body. My body is 15 and I am 21 so my doctor and I are working on maturing my body to a 21 year old's. I am on the 0.025mg/day patch that I need to change twice a week and so far it's been different but great until recently. I have a minor yeast infection that I am going to treat. Before the patch I had vaginal dryness and it was hard to stretch it. Now, no more dryness and it's easy to stretch and I hope sex is easier.Read More Read Less

I was taking testosterone for low T which boasted my sex drive and energy level and eliminated my hot flashes. Moved to another state and my new doctor put me on the Dot instead. I have been on it two weeks now and feel like I am having panic attacks and can't breath well. After reading other reviews I have decided to discontinue.

I have been on Vivelle dot for almost 1 year. I am in perimenopause and experienced hot flashes, cold flashes, crashing fatigue, painful intercourse, crying and generally feeling like I was losing my mind. The medication stopped all those symptoms. I am on .05 and am thinking of stopping or going to a lower dose. I'm afraid of long term effects and I'm experiencing weight gain. I've recently felt somewhat lightheaded as well. All in all I give this med 5 stars. It was a life saver for me.

I have been on the vivelle dot.025 for over 30 yrs and find that it has kept me from mood swings, nervousness, night sweats and weight gain. I am now 65 and think it best to come off I am getting calf pain and numbness in my hands. Not sure if it is related but feel I have been on long enough and should be through menopause and night sweats by now. This drug was a life saver to me. It was better then the progesterone or estrogen pill where I felt bloated and jittery all the time.

I am 60 years old, and have been on this drug for about 10 years now, and have experienced no side effects. My bloodwork is good, I feel great, it has improved my sex life, at least for me anyway. I love it and hope to stay on it forever too. I would be very upset if I had to stop it.

I am 67 years old. My uterus was removed in 1981, and have been on some form of hormone therapy since. Then in 2010, because of large fibroid tumors, I had a bilateral oophorectomy and put on the Vivelle patch. Dr just called today to say to use one more patch then get off of the because it's not recommended for women over 65. Is this true? I cannot find any info on this.

Anxiety completely gone...In may of this year it all returned....anxiety no appetite...been to 2 psychologists and tried many anxiety meds.....has anyone else had this problem where it worked wonders in the beginning but got worse as time went on? I spoke to my gynecologist today and she gave me the option of staying on or going off the patch....I just took the patch off a few hours ago. Just wanting input from other users as did your anxiety get worse on patch and if you quit using it...did anxiety ease up? Please help!!Read More Read Less

I have been using Vivelle-Dot for 8 years since full hysterectomy. I stopped using it mainly due to cost about 3 months ago. At first I didn't think I could do it... irritability, hot flashes, headaches but now I am 3 months from using it. I started last year experiencing facial twitches, right limb problems and severe migraines, painful breast lumps which I'm under treatment for now along with what at first they thought a stroke. Now I am beginning to wonder if it has been this patch afterall. I am now doing better and do not want to do any replacements after the kind of year that I have had. Of course Dr wants to see me and go over everything. Anyway - in summary... what I thought was a medicine that is great and I could not live without after weaning off - I don't plan to ever go back again.Read More Read Less

I started using this patch in 2007 as menopaus started because I had a Pap test that bled and that showed the lining of the vagina was thinning and inflamed. Soon after I started having bleeding that would not stop and I had a complete hysterectomy in 2009 and was back on the 0.1 patch. I have had no side effects but an occasional Hormone Migraine which are the worst ever! So my way around these nasty and violent headaches are to wear the patches for 6 to 7 days instead of only 4 days and the headaches are much much less! I hope to stay on these for the rest of my life...I feel that good! I have actually lost weight on this patch...you can't gain weight if you don't over eat! I'm 60 years old and I am now shopping in the junior girls department because I now wear a size 9, where I use to wear a size 12 that was always way to big in the hips for me! Now I'm happy my husband doesn't have to listen to complaints or crying & no night sweats at all!Read More Read Less

I am 36. I had my total hysterectomy 09-2007 due to endometriosis. I have been on a replacement patch since I was wheeled out of the OR. I have only tried one other generic brand and didn't like it as it was larger and didn't stay on as long. I have also been on several different strengths due to hot flashes but have to remain on the .025mg as the endometriosis seems to come back on anything stronger. I have gone a day or 2 without changing and no increase in flashes. I wouldn't realize it as I'm used to them anyway. My sex life hasn't been affected either.Read More Read Less

What I would like to know is why it is not advised to put the patch on your breasts. What would the effects be.
