I have been on a .05 estrogen patch for 9 years since I had a complete hysterectomy at age 41. I was put on it immediately after surgery so I really didn't have much chance to have any menopausal symptoms. At first they had me on a 1.0 patch which made my eyeballs bulge or swell. It was too much & so I had them lower the dose. I have really not had any bad side effects except maybe headache...

This patch caused a burn on my arm, I had the patch on for two days and it began to burn, when I took the patch off it hurt tremendously and it actually peeled skinned off. I still after ten days of being off the patch still have a noticable burn mark there.

I just started this after a total hysterectomy in June...Been post-menopausal for 7 years but had a bladder prolaspse thus the surgery. Head is clearer, no flashes, but blood pressure is up. I hate usually any drugs but I was so tired of feeling awful every day.

I am also having hair loss around my face it seems to be getting worse I dont know if it is from the medication or from menopause but I think I am going to try herbal treatment and see if my hair loss gets better

I've been on the patch for 2 monthsI found that I sleep much better and it has completelyl illiminated my hot flashes. I have gained 6-8 lbs and have restless legs - my back also hurts quite a bit but I think that is fromt he weight gain which I am just not ok with.

Vivelle dot has completely eliminated hot flashes and has helped my sleep issues. I have noticed a 5lb weight gain and breast tenderness. When I go off the patch, I immediately lose 5 pounds. I began this drug after a hysterectomy (tubes, ovaries, uterus)in June. I have gone off of it several times since then because of the weight gain. I am back on it again after 7 months and have just noticed the breast tenderness.

I like the vivelle dot. It's helped with the mood swings, vaginal dryness and I'm now able to sleep. My problem is the top part of the patch came off when time to change it but the sticky part is still stuck to my skin. Any ideas on how to get it off? Help!!!

My ovaries were removed in 1999, I've used different Estrogen meds, this was the last one that seems to work without side effects. I also noticed if I forget to change my patch for a week or so, I get depressed. As for weight gain, I'm not sure if this patch caused it or is a result of having no ovaries. Since 1999, I gained 40 pounds-been on Vivelle since 2003, also would advise to check Vitamin D level.

I started using the patch about a year ago when I was 16 yrs old. My doctor put me on it because my estrogen was very low and I hadn't started my period. Now, I know exactly when I will start and it has worked perfectly since I started using it.

I don't like the idea of having to change the patch every 3 days due to the fact that it is very easy to forget to do it.If the schedule was for specific days I think that would be easier to remember, but every three days is dificult to follow.

Started using Vitelle Patch .1mg about a month ago. I am 42 y/o that was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. I struggled w/severe hotflashes day and night and no sleep for 2 years. Tried all kinds of herbal remedies etc as I was trying to get pregnant. So far the dot has pretty much eliminated hot flashes, and I am sleeping much better. Still wake up about once per night to use restroom, and sometimes due to hot flashes. My complaint is that I have developed some pretty bad acne on my chin region, and feel like I am still gaining weight - which has been happening for the past couple years when first diagnosed w/premature ovarian failure. Read that the drug activelle a combo of estrogen and progestin does not cause acne and may consider trying this because I still have a uterus and have to take progesterone 10 days per month while on the patch. Has anyone else used activelle? thanksRead More Read Less

My hotflashes & vaginal dryness were severe; the hot flashes really disrupted my ability to function at work. The patch was very successful in relieving those symptoms, but within 6 mos of using the patch I developed a cyst in my breast-the cyst was removed & dx benign, but my surgeon recommended to not restart use of the patch.

I have used this for many years. Rarely I have to have the strength adjusted. If I don't have the correct strength, I may have hot flashes. I started using this because I had very bad mood swings.
