Zyprexa for me was the best medication for stabilizing my moods. It immediately calmed me down, helped me get my anxiety under control, and I finally could sleep for more than four hours. The reason for the high dissatisfaction is first, I was sleepy ALL THE TIME. I went from four hours sleep to 12 or more hours sleep, and even after all that I was still sleepy. I had a long commute to wor...

It increased my appetite quite a bit, which is why my doctor put me on it, because my other bipolar medicines, geodon and depakote were making me not hungry. And I noticed my mood became more upbeat, which was good.

I was on Zyprexa for 13 years. I got off of it because I had this hollow feeling all the time. I was constantly exhausted/tired. Extreme difficulty of functioning/taking care of myself and my son. Weight gain was horrendous. Went from 120lbs to 205lbs gaining 45lbs within a month and rapidly gained after that. I believe it caused my diabetes. I regret taking this medication! I never had long periods of symptoms(hearing things, being paranoid). This drug in actuality for me did nothing but ruin my health and my life. I suggest to anyone not to take this medication. I have been taking Zyprexa since Oct. 07 because of I guess drug induced dementia. I was locked up in a mental unit for 2 months. I have no memory of this but, when I came out of my mental state, it was like coming out of a fog. My Dr acts like the zyprexa is some kind of miracle drug! I do not feel the same about the medication. I have tried to stop taking this drug several times but was threatened to be put back into the mental unit. I asked for a different medication several times but to no avail. Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Zyprexa to stop a sudden onset of a manic episode or panic attack, and to aid in relaxation and sleep. While this drug is an absolute dream for all these syptoms I have found that in the 10mg dose it basically puts me into a complete stupor. I go to sleep carelessly and easily but feel "hungover" and groggy thew next day, usually oversleeping and having trouble waking up for the next 4 to 6 hours.

my doctor diagnosed me with bipolar disorder which i feel is incorrect. I started off with a small dose (this has been over a year ago) then worked up to the (i believe) 25 mg tablet. I gained over 40 pounds in about 3 months, I slept about 14 hours a day. I couldn't do anything. I couldn't clean my house or play with my son. I had NO energy, it was all I could do to just get up in the morning to go to work. My work performance dropped tremendously, but I couldn't help it. I was severly over medicated and didn't even notice until I took myself off the med. I will not allow my doctor to put me on anything else now because I am terrified that this will happen again with something else. I will deal with my problems on a day to day basis now. I would not recommend this medication to anyone but hopefully someone else would not have to deal with this. As for the weight gain as soon as I came off the med I lost back down to my normal size, so I know this was from the zyprexa. Read More Read Less

THE 5M ORAL TABS MADE MADE ME REALLY HYPER + IRRITIBLE FOR AT LEAST 3 HOURS, THEN IT TOOK ME ANOTHER 45 MIN TO FALL ASLEEP. I HAD BEEN HAVING SLEEP DEPRIVATION WITH BI-POLAR AND MY PSYCHIATRIST THOUGHT THIS WOULD HELP, TO TAKE ZYPREXA FOR 2 MONTHS 5MG AT NITE. WE'LL SEE. I SLEEP ABOUT FOUR HOURS NOW AND HAVE VIVID DREAMS. I HATE ZYPREXA AND I MIGHT QUIT IT BEFORE THE 2 MONTHS IS UP. I HAVE HAD THE ZYDIS AND THEY WORK REALLY FAST WHICH IS GREAT IF YOU ARE REAL AGITATED. BY MY DR SAYS THEY ARE FOR EMERGENCY TYPE SITUATION PRN AND NOT EVERY DAY. I HAVE HAD METABOLIC SYMDROME X, FROM SEROQUEL. THAT WAS 6 YEARS AGO AND THE SYMPOMS ARE STILL NOT ALL GONE. WELL I SURE HOPE THIS ZYPREXA DON'T GIVE ME METABOLIC SYNDROME AGAIN. I HAD A FRIEND WHO WAS SCHIZOPHRENIC AN HIS MEDS WERE ZYPREXA AN RISPERDAL-- HE HATED IT AND WOULDN'T TAKE EM.Read More Read Less

I haven't been sleeping well as I lost my job recently and have a 1 yr old to look after. A friend suggested I "try" this one night to get a good night's rest. I was knocked out. When I awoke I felt terribly HUNG - OVER, TIRED, SLUGGISH and my eyes felt really heavy.

I was perscribed zyprexa and it has made me gain 30 lbs. My insurance doesnt cover it even though I was perscribed by a doctor,so I buy it online. Its not easy for me to afford this one. I might have to quit.

A doctor prescribed Zyprexa for me 10 years ago as an off-label alternative for depressive disorder. I took the medicine for 3 weeks. I had to discontinue use because of the terrible side effects it caused for me. While on the medicine I felt as if I were going to lose my mind-- I couldn't stand to be touched and I wanted to rip everyone's head off just for looking at me. Keep in mind, everyone's experience is different so this might not happen to you.

Zyprexa was my first medicine that I was given when I was put in a psychiatric institution after a suicide attempt. It was a little rough at first. Made me a little slugish. I was taking 7.5mg a day. It worked really well for me but I had to stop because I gained almost 40lbs in less than two months! I was really fit, so it was very obvious that I gained it. Plus everyone felt the need to tell me how chunky I had become. Plus that much weight so fast is not healthy. I really wish it didn't have that side effect because it worked pretty good. After a few other meds that didn't work, I am currently on Seroquel 400mg. It didn't make me gain weight at first at smaller doses, but they weren't effective. But now at 400 I've gained almost 40lbs in the last three months. I gained alot on Zyprexa, then lost it all on Geodon (worst one I've ever been on!) But now I'm back up to where I left off with Zyprexa. I do feel better, but I can't deal with the gain. I will be discussing this at my next appointment. But all in all the Zyprexa was great other then that side effect.Read More Read Less
