Zyprexa for me was the best medication for stabilizing my moods. It immediately calmed me down, helped me get my anxiety under control, and I finally could sleep for more than four hours. The reason for the high dissatisfaction is first, I was sleepy ALL THE TIME. I went from four hours sleep to 12 or more hours sleep, and even after all that I was still sleepy. I had a long commute to wor...

It helped a great deal during a major depression when anxiety and insomnia were a problem. I do want to take it long as the warnings were frightening and I am trying to keep my weight down.

I was prescribed Zyprexa 5mg 1x/day nearly 10 years ago to treat bipolar disorder. I have had no side effects and the medication has worked well with my other medications. I would also strongly recommend that often times have to give psychiatric drugs 8-12 weeks before they reach a therapeutic level to even work, so give them a chance. Additionally, don't expect everything from your medications; you should also be involved in counseling and group therapy for an adequate time ( I still go regularly to a psychiatrist and to a therapist) to better help you understand whatever disorder you've been diagnosed with and help you cope with the challenges that go along with it.Read More Read Less

I had been taking antidepressants for several years with breakthrough depression. With zyprexa added to my treatment my depression is more under control. However the cost when samples are not available or insurance prevents me from yaking it sometimes.

I was having severe mood fluctuations and was given Zyprexa. My mood changed immediately and I started running three miles every day (it had been over two years since I did any regular exercise and never enjoyed it), became more talkative and outgoing, and had a new hope for my life. Unfortunately, it only took one month for me to gain a quick 23 pounds! Four years later and still struggling with a variety of pills, I tried it again. Again, I felt the best, but gained another 19 lbs. in three weeks. It's three years later and I have yet to lose the weight or find something that works as well. Read More Read Less
