Most of my life, I've had a severe problem with excessive daytime sleepiness. I complained to doctors about fatigue just to hear them say that I'm depressed or I need to exercise more. My 1st sleep study was about 20 yrs ago and was told it was "a sleep apnea". The drug prescribed had one side effect, cariovascular disease. So, then I had high cholesteral and the drug was taken off the market. I'v...

I have narcolepsy. Have been taking Provigil/Modafinil for many years with good results. Recently the pill has changed and about 2 weeks after taking it, I started to get sick and taking the pill was like taking a placebo. I began feeling drugged, nauseated, disorientated, dizzy, agitated, fatigued and had to go to bed because I could not function. I stopped taking the drug. I began reading the att...

I was having to take naps almost daily, had no energy from not sleeping well. Provigil has changed everything. I am awake, alert without the jitters or the affects of caffine. I have been taking Provigil for over a year and have had no side effects. When I drive a long distance it keeps me alert but I have no problem getting to sleep.

I can function at work now without having to take naps on my lunch break. No more coffee and "NO-DOZ" to get me through the day. I can concentrate on my daily tasks and I feel like my life is becoming normal again. I actually have enough enrgy to exercise at the end of my day. It's changed my life completely.

The medication has been a definite plus in countering the side effect of daytime fatigue resulting from my apnea as well as the fentanyl transdermal patches I wear continually to combat pain. Modafinil allows me to feel normally awake and alert during the day without adding to to my sleeping dificulties at night. This has been a significant "quality of life" improvement for me.

I had Fibromyalgia symptoms due to Severe Mitral Valve Prolapse, and I also suffered a neck injury due to a rear-end collison. In November '07, I underwent cervical fusion surgery for two protruding disks. Because of the surgery, I now suffer from Post-Traumatic Hypothyroidism. Started Provigil in April '08, and it has cut down on daytime sleepiness. No side effects, no nervousness or jitters. I had minor headaches at first, but those have subsided. Wish I had known about Provigil about three years ago.Read More Read Less

It should be noted that one of the purposes for this medication is to treat fatigue that is suffered by Cerebral Palsy patients who use 3 to 5 times the energy to complete physical tasks that a person without this disability.

it was amazing. I went from sleeping till noon or after, to getting up at 8 am and being full of energy the whole day , up to 11 pm. I suffer from sleep aepnea and epilepsy, which causes me to take high dowses of meds. that all cause drowsiness.Iv'e spent the last 4 years sleeping and being depressed over it. But now, with Provigil, I'm making daily list, completeing them, before I know it the day has past me by.I was prescribed the provigil for the sleep apnea and excess sleepiness. But I never dreamed the difference it would make for me. Donald GrahamRead More Read Less

I have sleep apnea and also Multiple Sclerosis. I use the 100mg tab, but not on a daily basis. I use this when I feel tired from my MS. I recommend this for MS patients that tend to have no energy when they wake up in the mornings. It doesn't seem to affect my symptoms of MS; i.e., the tingling in my feet or legs. It just gives me energy to get throught the day, when I need to do what I need to do. I see my Neurologists for the medication prescription.

The dose started at 200mg once daily. The medication took several months to work efficiently. Also, the medication is very costly even w/ insurance. I experienced zero side effects. Overall, I am somewhat satisfied w/ the medication, but because the cost of the medicine is so expensive I plan to discontinue the drug.
