I am writing this in lieu of my daughter and what i have witnessed with her taking this medication. My daughter ( Jade) has had digestive problems since about 9 months old,she is now 5 yrs. old. A test was done to determine what enzymes she was deficient in and amylase was the one. She was give an enzyme called pancreacarb ms-4 that worked very well. This enzyme was made unavailable to me sometime between 2005-2006. My daughter was prescribed Lipram 4500 oral in 2006 and it seemed to work but not as well as the pacreacarb ms-4. My daughters gastroenterologist was never able to find out why my daugher was defiecent in amylase. In the middle of 2006 Jade was able to keep her weight maintained and she was weaned from the enzyme, but we still experience hematemesis ( bloody vomiting), high fevers, and dehydration. I do not know if this is from a lack of enzymes or a pancreatic problem I have not been made aware of because I saw that this drug is used to treat pancreatic organ failure and stools containing fat. I can only account for my daughter having maybe one experience of fat cotained stool. She has had many stools and still does containing mucous. I am a little concerned she was prescribed this seeing as how she was not really having the problems this drug was to treat as previously mentioned above. Any input on how this drug has effected you or your child would help me in my quest for information. RebekahRead More Read Less
