I have been a type 2 diabetic for over 13 years now and my sugar levels were really out of control last year with my A1C level being at 13 and my fasting glucose was 326. I started taking Tujeo with combination of 1000mg of metformin twice daily and my fasting sugar levels dropped within a couple of days. My Dr started me out at 5 units/ day and it was too low of a dose. I'm at 24 and my fasting ...

Drug is not bad but company is terrible. Marketing savings plan was good for 2 months when advertised as 1 year. Expect to pay a lot!

Causes stomach issues, blurred vision, headaches and fluid retention. Not happy with this drug at all. My midsection seems bloated, difficulty fitting into my pants yet weight gain is marginal. i have neuropathy and my feet are burning way more with this drug then any other.

My doctor tried switching me from lantus to toujeo because my blood sugar was always high in the morning. It started out working to bring my blood sugar levels down, but within four to six weeks, I had gained 10 pounds (and I am not tall), I had swelling, and I could barely feel my toes due to poor circulation. I have never had problems with circulation that could not be regulated. I have had type 1 diabeletes without too many complications for 35 years, and am otherwise, healthy. I had to have my doctor switch me back to Lantus because Toujeo was destroying my body. I hope this does not replace Lantus or I will not be around for long. Read More Read Less

I tried Levemir and now Toujeo and they all work the same. They don't help lower blood sugar as expected, specially at night. I sleep on 150-180 with no dinner then wake up 7 hours later at 200-250. My doctor told me that when insulin starts to work and sugar level drops, the liver dumps stored sugar to make up the lost sugar in the body. So I continued taking it in morning but returned to add metformin 1000 twice a day, to help block the liver from dumping sugar. I think this long acting insulin is better for people with Type 1 diabetes who have no insulin rather than type 2 who need to drop sugar level in blood and blocking the lever is the most important, regardless of how many insulin units we inject. On advice for Metformin; I suffered from sever diarrhea using metformin. Now I pre dissolve the 1000 tablet in water, add small mountain dew to the taste and drink it immediately after a meal. It is working great now. So if you choose to take the long acting insulin must also continue to use Metformin. Good Luck and live longer. Read More Read Less

My blood sugar tripled on Toujeo. I had to switch back to Lantus after 4 days.

I love taking this medication. Read More Read Less

Never had as high blood sugar levels as with this drug. Also had terrible stomach pains. Had to go for Gastroenterologist who said pains were cause from high sugars. Stomach is still not feeling good but sugars are way down after stopping Toujeo.

30 years old male diagnosed with Type 1 in Aug 2015. I've never had a low and my numbers are steady. My A1c was 11.5 in August and Jan 2016 A1C 4.9. So happy with Toujeo

I have been taking for six months now and it is still only lasting about 12 hours total. I am taking 40 units gradually up from 22 at 7 pm, and it is not working by about 6 AM. It does last longer than Lantus. both of them cause insomnia if taken before bed...at least for me. They realized teh Lantus did not last as long as expected, and for me neither does Toujeo.

Toujeo works different than the other insulins. It should be titrated to reach glucose goals. The luxury of Toujeo is, you can titrate to higher doses without increasing your risk of lows at night. Expect to be on higher doses but know that you will reach goal without having lows at night and nearly deplete your highs in the afternoon. High dose insulin is not a bad ordeal if you are lowering your A1c while protecting your organs. High dose insulin is now available without causing symptoms of hypoglycemia at night. I LOVE TOUJEO AND COULD NOT BE HAPPIER NOR BETTER CONTROLLED!!! Do not be afraid to titrate higher, it is not a bad thing. And with my copayment card, i only pay $15 a month while some friends on medicaid and medicare are paying much less. Amazing!Read More Read Less

Toujeo is great for (1) one shot a day and (2) low blood sugars are greatly reduced, especially at night. Toujeo has not performed (over 6 mos period) as expected. Blood sugars have never been less than 100 and been high as 300, despite watching what I ate. Also, A1C was increased 2 pts. I think I will talk to my doctor about returning to 70/30 novolin and deal with the ups and downs.

Since I was switched to Toujeo my blood sugars have been uncontrolled in the 200's. My sugars were controlled before switching. My endo keeps increasing it with no response at all. I feel terrible since starting this insulin.

My Doctor prescribed this medication because of cost. I have high blood sugar and it doesn't seem to be lowering it. I started it at 80 units and was told to increase by 2 units a day until fasting blood reading was below 105. I just think it is to many units to be taking.

My Dr. started me on this insulin with 10 units every night after follow up appointment increased it to taking 25 units on Fridays and remain on 10 for the remainder of the weekday, no taking 25 units every day. my sugars are still high and I see no change. basically changed to this new insulin because its suppose to be more affordable than any other in the market. No side effects at all.
