I had been on Victoza but couldn't continue because of the nausea. I was also taking Lantus. I started on Trulicity two weeks ago and had no nausea, have more energy and my blood sugars are in range. I no longer take lentos either.

I've been taking trulicity for about 7 months. First 3 mos loss 6 pounds. After the next 3 mos 1pound. Now am on my 7 month haven't loss anything. My concern is am experiencing clogged up in my throat area and a major cough. I went to er was told it's the weather and it's sinus mixed with allergies. So I was giving steroids and allergy medicine all the while coughing up yellow thick mucus. Never had sora throat the whole time. Went to my dr for a follow-up just to be told oh its just allergies and my throat was swallon. I'll give you some cough medicine still not helping with the cough. A week later still coughing up mucus thick white a lil yellow comes up sometimes. The reason am upset is reading the side effects trulicity can cause thyroid cancer so why my dr didn't say stop taking the meds to see if it'll get better. Am done with it just know if you experience this stop taking this medication. Read More Read Less

I have been injecting medications into my body for over 40 years. In all that time, I never experienced the PAIN or SHOCK received today during the injection of Trulicity. All I can say is that the manufacturer should make it very clear on packaging that you should allow the syringe and contents to warm up for about 30 minutes BEFORE injecting. I have a bad heart as it is! It was horrific and I do not know if I can do it again?

Most of my injections are fairly painless, but I get some that really sting and I suspect burrs on the needle. Ouch!

I started taking Trulicity when I was for certain diagnosis with diabetes 2 about 6 months ago. I have been pre-diabetic for about 15 years. Many controlled with diet and exercise. Recently I got into a really bad car accident so I was unable to control it with exercise and my diet went with it as well. Anyway, I was to start taking medication. I started with Metformin, which didn’t work for me and I couldn’t stay off the toilet. Then, I was given Trulicity. At first, I thought it was working great and I wasn’t visiting the bathroom so often. I started at 0.75 and I even started losing weight without trying. Probably because I felt really nauseous early on and then it turned into every once in a while. As the dose was increasing, I was visiting the bathroom less and less. In the beginning it wasn’t too worrisome. Then I noticed some stomach pains, as my dose amount was increasing. This was when my dose was at 3.0. I was having stomach pains followed by diarrhea. I spoke to the doctors and they said it was constipation and to take fiber supplements. So I did. I then started to notice my period had stopped. Now I thought it would be too soon for menopause, but I heard people can have it anytime so I thought maybe this is what is happening even though all of my periods have been normal up until this point. I was then finally increased to 4.5 This is when I wouldn’t have a bowel movement for about 4-5 days and even if I did, it wasn’t much. I started breakout with pimples on my face and body, which is not normal for me. My stomach pains now radiated to my back where I was laying in bed for two days. This always happened 2 days after taking my shot is what I started noticing. I was on my second month of not having my period. I couldn’t find anything stating that Trulicity interferes with your period so I just thought I was in early menopause. I was sad actually cause I wanted more children. When the stomach pains got so bad I finally reached my doctor and said I want to stop Trulicity to see if that was the issue. This is when I finally found out that Trulicity actually constipates you. I was never ever told this. So I thought that was the pain I was having was from constipation. This is when I read that it causes pancreatitis and kidney damage. I got lab work done and I had some signs of kidney damage from Trulicity. My levels were normal prior. I told them my period still has no come and they told me it wasn’t cause of Trulicity. So regardless I asked to stop the medication which they agreed. It has only been a week and a half since my last dose and my bowel movements are back to normal. I don’t have stomach pains beside some little radiating pains in my back, which could be from the kidney damage now. AND my periods have returned. This is the part I was surprised with. So Trulicity DOES AFFECT YOUR PERIODS! My main reason for writing this is to let others know if they are in my situation because I found absolutely NOTHING stating this. But it does make sense. Trulicity messes with your pancreas, which can mess with hormones, which can make with your period. Anything that messes with hormones can. I just wish I knew this before thinking I couldn’t have children anymore for the rest of my life. Which was very depressing honestly. Anyway, Trulicity might work for some people, but it did NOT work for me. My body was telling me it wasn’t the right medication for me, but I kept listening to my doctors who told me it was always something else. Even though it did bring my A1C levels down and I was able to finally prick my finger and read a blood sugar level of 100 which hadn’t happened in years, it was worth the pain and misery I felt during it. I now have to find another medication to try until I can get my weight under control or once I can get full mobility back in my right leg and foot so I can do normal workouts. I hope this helps someone else that is having the same worries I did and can have some reassurance, especially for the mRead More Read Less

I was on a very low doze 1st 4 weeks. I had no noticeable negative side effects. Slight loss of appetite. Had my A1C done after 4 weeks it had been 6.9 when I STARTED INJECTIONS and no change STILL 6.9 AFTER 4th week. Doctor increased my dose on week 5 and I started mild side effects that rapidly went into SEVERE SIDE EFFECTS by the end of week six. Immediately stopped taking it. Severe constipation, uncontrollable belching, flu like fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, couldn’t keep anything down for almost a week, disoriented, weak, light headed.10 days after stopping still having side effects but beginning to ease up some. This drug stays in yr system 30 days after last injection. So glad I stopped as soon as the negative side effects started. Recommend STAYING AWAY FROM THIS DRUG. I was so sick I should have gone to the ER THANKFULLY it’s started to get out of my system and I can keep small amount of fluids down and meal replacement shakes. Can’t believe this poison is still on the market. Read More Read Less

I thought this was managing my diabetes type two. It was managing my daily numbers about 40 points below what I would have been not taking it, and that wwas between 110 and 150. I have been taking Trulicity 18 months. I already have Gerd and acid reflux. I’m on medication’s for those conditions. I also have been on a blood thinner for many years due to having blood clots in my lungs. My stomach acid and eventual consistent stomach and digestive problems with severe acid, burning, pain, digestive contractions, & slow digestion of my food, led to an upper G.I. bleed and a Mary Weiss tear in my digestive track. I was hospitalized for four days, as I all of a sudden woke up and was coughing up blood. I rushed to the emergency room and they immediately found the bleed and found a separate tear. I was seeing the Gastro doctor every month while on 4 different meds on and off for 6 mos. They were barely managing my symptoms. Although I had not thrown up blood after abt a week post hospital stay, I could not get rid of my stomach nor upper digestive track issues. My internal med dr. suggested that I stop taking Trulicity for two weeks. That’s two injections. The day I saw my doctor was the day I was supposed to take my next injection. He told me not to take it. I did not take it. I have NOT had ANY stomach issues since the day before I saw my doctor. I’m on my second week of not taking it and I have NOT had one stomach or digestive issue in 2 1/2 weeks. What does this tell me? What does this tell my physician? I am definitely not taking Trulicity any longer. I also am not going to take any drugs like Ozempic, or Mounjaro if it is filled by a compound pharmacy who can easily make the semagalatides into salt compound and that can be dangerous as well. Be careful who you get your diabetes medication’s from and what their side effects are. I was personally not warned of these serious conditions, otherwise I would not have taken Trulicity. The scary thing is, I don’t know how long my body had been suffering internally before I had any symptoms that I could feel. That tells me I could have scar tissue buildup and some other problems that the medication has created in my digestive track or to other organs. Very scary. Read More Read Less

Took Trulicity for 3 weeks last year . My A1C when I was put on this was 7.1 today its 12 and my diabetes is out of control. Since I took this poison my sugar levels can go from 350 to 50 in an hour without taking insulin or from 50 t o 350 without eating . Watch my diet take my insulin as instructed . gained 45 pounds in one year after taking this . My endo has no idea what it did to me but is sure it is still in my system in my pancreas . She can't tell me if it will ever leave my system and it very well may cause my death if we cannot get my sugar under control . Read More Read Less

I have been on trulicity for over a year. I am taking the 4.5 dose. I usually get nausea when I start a new box, but that goes away with in the first 3 days. My A1C has went from a 9.1 to a 7. I have lost 75 pounds in a year. I love it. It’s the best thing ever. I take it the same time and day each week. I have been taken off metformin. I feel great and have tons of energy.

This is the second time I've tried Trulicity. The first time I stopped it because my family doctor at the time, stated because I was only pre-diabetic, the benefits did not outweigh the risk. This time however, my eGFR was highly elevated and was recommended again by my endocrinologist. I'm on my second week... I have absolutely no appetite, heartburn and indigestion are my constant companion, as well as nausea and vomiting, which seems to subside after about three to four days. I believe if I continue to take this medication, things are only going to get worse. Therefore, I will be calling my doctor and telling her that I no longer wish to take this medication.Read More Read Less

I have been taking trulicity 1.5 for 3 weeks now. The first two weeks were horrible. Constantly, full and upset stomach, vomiting despite barely eating anything. The third week isn't much better. I still feel too full to eat and always slightly sick to my stomach. I don't see how this medication is any different than just eating less, to reduce glucose. I have been a vegetarian most of my life and eat a very healthy diet, but still got diabetes. I have lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks from eating a handful of pretzels each day with another snack because its all I can tolerate. This does not seem healthy to me!Read More Read Less

I started Trulicity about a year ago. I’ve lost a significant amount of weight. The problem is the sever fatigue. It is awful. I stopped taking it, and within a week, I got most of my energy back. I also read that it can affect your thyroid. I have Hashimoto’s thyroid disease. It also can cause thyroid cancer. I have nodules, but they are stable. I’m wondering if it is connected somehow. I am so fatigued, I lay down 3-4 times a day, feeling like I can’t even lift my arms. I’m going to contact my doctor to see if I can take something else. I have insulin resistance, so I gain weight in my abdomen. I’d rather have that and exercise more. Anyone else having this problem? Read More Read Less

Wonderful experience so far. Been on Trulicity for about 6-7 years (I think - been a long time). A1C is very consistently 6.8-6.9. Lost a few pounds (20?) over the first two years, then plateaued (I had lost about 50 pounds on my own about a year before I started it). I had the diarrhea side effect off and on for a year or so (probably my second year). Took me a while to figure it out because it would hit 2-3 days after dose. Usually only lasted for an hour or so (one trip to the bathroom). Funny thing - doc upped the dose to 3.5 and the side effect went away. Makes no sense to me, but I am happy about it. I have had none of the muscle pain, etc. others have mentioned. I take it in conjunction with Jardiance, Toujeo, and metformin. I have had no side effects from them either. Read More Read Less

I was on lowest dose initially. Started feeling constipated & exhausted but didn't realize it was a Trulicity side affect. Had weight loss, but also was making better food choices and eating more meals. Major problem prior to med was I was only eating 1 meal a day. Dietitian gave me goal of 3 meals/day with 20-30 gms protein, each meal. It was hard for me but I wasn't helping metabolism with one meal a day. I've bern experiencing nausea and stomach pains, no matter what I eat. Totally exhausted, too. Still was not thinking it was due to Trulicuty. Was Increased to next dose. Next day while in p.t.'s waiting room, for neck issues, I started to experience severe shakes, lightheadedness, weakness in limbs and headache. I just didn't feel well. Again, did not connect it too thr med increase. Therapist monitored me, took b.p. & ckd vitals which were ok. Suggested I go downstàirs to see PCP, which I did. Vitals were ok, EKG was ok. Doc decided to order labs and a heart monitor, although cardiologist prior to all of this had done all kinds of tests due to a Dòc identifying AFIB at one visit. Heart is fine, since I never felt AFIB symptoms, I thought maybe the feeling I was experiencing in waiting room was AFIB. ??? I had all these symptoms the next day, too... shakiness, bad headache & weakness last night, 2nd day aftern dose & it dawned on me that I had just taken the new higher dose, the night before affects started. Anyway, now that it dawned on me that I increased the dose, maybe it is related to these episodes. Truly the symptoms made me feel awful. I texted my Doc in the portal about the very recent med increase, and I decided to search for side affects & found this site. To summarize, the symptoms I've had are extreme exhaustion, headaches, jitters, shakkness, weakness in limbs, lighthededness, firmer stools and just not feeling well. Feel next dose of this higher dose, will tell me a lot & I will attempt to update this review. PLEASE KEEP SHARING TO HELP OTHERS! THANKS TO OTHERS FOR YOUR REVIEWS. Although all of our bodies act differently, it's important to share so Docs know & don't ignore it as just a coincidence. As others have stated, WE KNOW OUR BODIES, THE BEST! I have been taking Trulicity with no issues. Anything has to be better than Metformin for your stomach. In 4 weeks , I’ve lost 16 lbs with not changing much. I know longer think about food all the time or am hungry. Give it a few weeks to get in your system.

The side effects over 6 month use were devastating. causing my health to deteriorate. Experts were not interested in my complaints and were hell bent on increasing dose. It failed to do what it was suggested, So stopped, much to the distain of the diabetic nurse. Offering yet another type with dreadful reviews.
