I've decided to write a review since there are a lot of neg ones. I'll be honest, when I first took this I didn't have the most pleasant experience and reading some reviews freaked me out. Here's my history -- I was diagnosed with yeast infection last year by my obgyn of which she prescribed a one day oral medicine. It took a few days for it to work, but I don't recall having any side effect...
I wish I had read the comments before purchasing this. What started out as a slight itch turned into a monster after using this product. I used this at about 10pm right before I went to bed. By a little after 12am I woke up to a whitish discharge so a pad is a must but that wasn't all. I was Itching and burning so bad I almost cried. I went to the bathroom and rinse off with water several times an...

I was very nervous about using this product after reading the reviews. I'm a total wimp when it comes to pain and my body is super sensitive to anything foreign, but I had recently finished a strong dose of antibiotics and felt like I was getting a mild yeast infection. I emailed my doctor and she suggested I try an over the counter cream. I wanted a quick fix so I went with the 1 day ovule insert. I waited for the terrible burning/itching that people described, but it was hardly an issue at all. I used the anti-itch cream that it came with and used it before bed. I guess everyone is different, but I had no issues (just slight burning/itching) with this product and was very pleased. I felt about 90% better the next day! I would recommend wearing a panty liner or pad because there was a bit of cream that came out... but other than that, no problems!Read More Read Less

Hi, I'm 18 and this has been my first yeast infection. I know because I went to the doctor and he diagnosed me, he suggested I use monistat. So I went to the the drug store and bought monistat 1 the ovule insert. When I got home I inserted the product, of course I decided to read reviews after using it. So I was scared that it would happen to me because I am such a wimp at handling pain. However to my SUPRISE I didn't get not one sign of burning! This is now day three of using it and it works GREAT. All of my itching was gone by the second day, the only thing I have is the discharge but that is slowly diminishing. I guess it really just depends on the woman's body and if your body is able to take that amount of medication at one time. Read More Read Less

I picked up the monistat 1 ovule last night after suffering through a bout of bv only to find the antibiotics had given me a yeast infection. Needless to say I was concerned with the fastest possible solution after being miserable two weeks straight. I read the reviews after inserting the ovule and was momentarily terrified but decided I'd just have to see. I went to bed and was awoken an hour later with the most horrific burning I'd ever experienced. Douching with gasoline and tossing a match up there sounded like a soothing alternative. (I mean it was BAD) That being said, unlike most the reviews I read I decided to tough it out and didn't run for the shower... and after about an hour of cursing my gender the burning resolved itself to a warm feeling and I fell back asleep. This morning, (6hrs later) I felt perfect. Long story short: if you're really concerned with getting rid of your infection ASAP and can stand an hour of misery, the ovule does its job. I would not recommend using it during the day like it says on the package. Make sure you have something relaxing to do, and if you're really sensitive and it's not that pressing, go for the three day pack because IT DOES BURN.Read More Read Less

Hey guys, I like many, was not 100% on whether or not i had a YI. I was being treated for a UTI and when I finished my round on antibiotics, a persistant itch up inside my vagina remained. I got mono stat 1 just to avoid issues over the holidays. I ended up with an Icy burn just like there was a mint in there. It was not unbearable, simple unpleasant. I put a tampon in and immediately pulled it out and it was covered with the ovule medicine. I did that 3 times to removes the bulk of medicine, and the burning has subsided. This very well may not be the best method, but it has relief.Read More Read Less

I'm only a couple of hours into using the Monistat 1 and I'm irritated in more than one way! The burning was almost unbearable only b/c the package indicated mild burning. If it would have said that I would feel like I'm on fire I may have mentally prepered better. Unfortunate that others have experienced these same side effect but the feedback has calmed my nerves a bit, I was considering going to the E.R before reading the reviews. The only thing that has given me some comfort from the itching and burning was to go back to my home remedies for a YI. I did rub yougurt on my vulva and I have been able to sit still long enough to write this review. Good luck ladies.Read More Read Less

so i found this clarification "The first one is a pre-filled 1 day applicator and contains 300 mg of Ticonozale (6.5%). The second one is an ovule insert 1 day applicator and contains 1200 mg of Miconazole." I of course bought the ovule and like everyone else had a HORRIBLE experience. I inserted the ovule and decided to go online to see when i could be "active" again, instead i saw these reviews. As predicted at the 2 hour mark a sudden wave of severe itching came on. Then the burning presented soon after, I like many was in such severe distress almost went to the E.D. I thought okay i have a high pain tolerance if i can make it through the night i am in the clear. Not the case, the next morning i went to the bathroom, as soon as i wiped the extreme burning and itching came back just as strong. As i drove to Walgreens to buy a douche as some have suggested i was crying due to the pain. When i got there i saw on Monistat 1's packaging the DO NOT douche warning. I spoke with the pharmacist, she said go to the E.D. or call your doctor. My doctor immediately sighed hearing i bought this product and immediately gave the pharmacist the order for a prescription. I was in such severe pain I really want to consider filing a class action law suit to save other women from this pain. I was really scared about this product causing permanent damage. Please do not take this product, and I have had several yeast infections in my life. This is not my first time, this is not an STD. I am questioning if the politicians speaking of "legitimate rape" backed this product being released. DO NOT PUT YOUR SELF THROUGH THIS!!!Read More Read Less

Not reading reviews first was the worst decision I ever made. My work schedule is tight, so I grabbed the 1 Day and used it immediately on a Monday after a day of discomfort at work. Since then I am uncomfortable sitting, standing, wearing clothes, not wearing clothes...I feel like I might have to take a day off. The burning and itching has been terrible and it is now Wednesday morning...WHY IS THIS PRODUCT BEING SOLD?!?! I've had about 4 or 5 YIs years ago, but I must have taken the lower dosage. This was UNBEARABLE. The small amount of discomfort before is NOTHING compared to this...how do I stop it?Read More Read Less

Took this at 9:30 am at work once I realized it actually WAS a YI. It seemed okay at first, but then around 1:30 I was in a LOT of discomfort. It stayed like that but only for a few hours. It's not 4:30 and I FEEL MUCH BETTER than I did last night, and before I got it. Now granted, remember, this product is ONE DAY so the dosage is really REALLY high amount so it DOES cause irritation, and bad itching etc- and it like throbs for a bit but if you had the YI, it's not too much worse and for the few hours to endure then feel the relief, i say it was worth it. Come on girls, you can handle this and tackle it and feel better. If you do have low tolerance for pain though, get the 3 day it's much lower dose....but you'll be ultimately more uncomfortable for longer--- HOWEVER< you won't have the really uncomfortable few hours of itching, throbbing and pain.. Your choice. I choose 1 day when its' really bad and suffer through the couple hours- Then it's DONE OVER. KAPUT. BYE BYE Yeasty....bye bye yeasty! Read More Read Less

I bought this product (MONISTAT1)to treat a mild YI. I have used Monistat 5 and 7 before and they worked fine. I put it in before bed and I expected at least a little relief the next day. What I got instead was INTENSE burning and itching. I had to waddle like a penguin the whole day. For some reason, I thought a shower and washing the area would help. It did not. It made it itchier and more sensitive. I then used the external Monistat itching relief external cream that came with the ovule. Within 40 minutes my labia and vulva were more than 4 times their normal size. I got scared and went to the ER. I am clearly not allergic to the medicine in Monistat since the other kinds worked fine, but this one destroyed my vagina. I have a high pain tolerance, but this was unbearable. It took 72 hours for things to begin to get better down there. LADIES, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. It is not worth it! Please just get the Diflucan. It is worth the wait.Read More Read Less

I wish I would of read these review before I used this crap. I just noticed I was getting a yeast inflection. Just discharge no itching or burning. UNTIL I used this product. Woke up and was swollen and burned. Increased discharge, pain, can hardly sit. There should be a class action against this company.

DON'T USE! I was told with my pap smear results that the culture showed "signs of yeast infection" and to treat with Monistat. I had NO symptoms. I got the Monistat 1 Ovule thinking it was easiest. I wanted to RIP my vagina out from the HORRIBLE internal itching. I was literally trying to scratch while saying "I'm dying". Please don't use this!

DON'T EVER USE! I used this in Feb 2008 and still having medical issues. I have to have infusions evey 3-4 weeks. This product gave me ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocydopenia Purpura). I did have to say part due to my fault as I was tired and directions were not very easy. I left blue cap on and when I inserted it the cap hit me and apparently I broke open a blood vessel and it went thru my blood system, went to the hospital at 4:00 in a.m and 3 times more in a week, with stomach burning, eyes, hands feet burning. It has been horrible and I now have low blood platelets and have to have infusions. They should take this stuff off from the shelves. My life will never be the same. The sad thing is it doesn't look like I ever had a yeast infection, but my doc suggested I use it. She never even checked me for a yeast infection while she was doing a pelvic exam. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT! I ran to rite aid to buy some because of a bad YI thinking it would make the burning go away. NOT! About 1 hour after I put it in it burned and itched 1000 times worse! I kept waking up in the middle of the night from the pain and now this morning my vagina feels raw and extremely sore and my stomach has been very crampy. Take this s***! off the shelves!

ladies, please, do not use this product. You will be in agony, 10x worse than your infection. I wonder, who they tested this on..two hours after insertion, i, like the rest of you, experienced such severe burning that i almost went to the emergency room. After two hours in a bathtub, the burning was a little better but now, two later, i am still sore. Using this product is equivilant to shoving tobasco sauce up your vagina. Its horrible. Please, i dont want another woman to suffer from this product. I wrote to monostat on their site and told them about my experience and all the reviews that say the same thing. I think they should get this stuff off the shelves. So, please, if your value your vagina, stay away from monistat 1. Read More Read Less

This stuff is from the fire pits of hell! I used this at bedtime, woke up with it running out. The pain, itch burning, swelling, and eventual bleeding of my vulva had me screaming. The mild YI was much better than the medicine. After 2 days I couldn't take anymore, so I bought a few douches to get that stuff out of me. While the douches burned (because I'm so sore from the medicine) I felt instant relief! I assume I will have to a few times to get it all out, but for now I feel better. I don't know if my yeast infection is cured, and its probably not, i suppose i will call my gyno to get diflucan.... But i will never use a one day ovule again. Now, i have read alot of reports on this, and i am not alone... It seems alot of women are having the same issues with it... I have also read alot of women who had no problems. So here is my lowdown... I am 38 years old, i have had 5 kids, had plenty of yeast infections -I KNOW WHAT A YEAST INFECTION IS !!! i have read so many responses back to other ladies telling them that it wasn't a YI because the medicine hurt them . No this medicine hurts alot of women, period!! Take this medicine at your own risk, you may not have a problem. Or you may want to rip out your own va jay-jay, because it's hurts so bad. At any rate i suggest a douch to rinse it out if you are one of the unlucky majority that has a bad reaction to it.Read More Read Less

I took the Monistat 1 at around my bedtime of 10:00 and about five hours later at three in the morning I woke up to wetness in my vaginal area. I was wearing a pad because I read on the leaflet thing that came in the box that it is best to wear a pad. It was just that at the time. Wetness, and a little itching that I barely noticed. I went to the bathroom and I peed. After I wiped myself I noticed some white discharge and I thought "hey, that must the ovule!". Then, it started to itch a little more. I cleaned that area and changed my pad. I went back to my bedroom and the itchiness and burning began. It was like burning fire IN my vagina and itchiness riddled my vulva. I couldn't sleep then and started to look up Monistat 1 reviews on my phone. Now I'm just laying in bed an hour and a half later not moving my legs. Haha, that's my key. Not moving my legs. I don't when this'll stop or if it went away. Not moving my legs kind of refrains me from feeling anything down there. Before I used this medication, though, I would get spasms of itch whenever I didnt move my kegs but right now I'm not feeling anything. I guess people shouldn't use this product if they can't stand the high dosage of the medicine. I hope it stays like this for me. This is my first time and I'm only 14. I have a high pain tolerance if I say so myself but I will not be using Monistat 1 again in the future. Wish me luck! And luck to all of you guys with YI!!Read More Read Less
