The experience I have had with taking this drug has given me back parts of my life that I thought were lost forever. I am able to do the simple things with ease such as getting out of bed. In taking Remicade I feel like my life has been given back to me again.

I have not started treatment yet, but I had to answer the questions to get my concerns posted. SORRY! I cheated. I have read the reviews on the Web MD site associated with psoriatic arthritis and to be honest it is a little frightening. I am scheduled to begin treatment on remicade Aug. 6th. The 6 reviews I read commented that they were in more pain and the psoriasis was much worse after tre...

I have had 4 infusions of remicade, the first 3 I thought were working, after the 4th they stopped. All sympotoms were back bleedingwas worse and now I am having horrible painful swelling in my lower legs and ankles that doctors cant find a reason for. Do NOT want to take this drug anymore, will consider the surgery. But need to fix ankles and legs first so I can walk normal again. Please consider all options before letting Doctor talk you into this!!

I have been dealing with uveitis for approximately 22 years, and swelling began in my feet/hands in 2007. I began using methotrexate in 2005, and for the last 5 years +/-, I have been on a 20 mg/week dose, with continuous flares. My doctor had me try Humira, but I struggled with the self-injections. At the end of May 2012, I had an major uveitis flare in my right eye, with no vision within two days, then a flare in my left a few days later. At the same time, I had my first attack of inflamation in my lower back (later diagnosed as Ankylosing Spondilitis), which made any mobility almost impossible for a week and a half. I was still in daily pain, but received my first Remicade treatment in July. That night I slept without any pain, or pillows to prop myself into a "comfortable" possiton to try to sleep. I have not had any uveitis flares, and I am almost off of the methotrexate. The Remicade treatment has been an amazing medication for me in my situation. With Humira, I found I suffered more colds/sinus infections, even though I rarely was sick before the Humira. Since starting the Remicade, I have not had any issues with becoming sick, but have found simple/mild scratches/wounds have a tendancy to become infected. Again, not a previous problem. I would recommend this treatment to anyone, given it is a valid option for them. And with all mecications, it effects everyone differently.Read More Read Less

This treatment ended me up in the hospital for 32 days (13 in intensive care) put on life support. Affected my lungs so bad that the doctors did not think I would live. They took a lung biopsy and found no bacteria or virus. Remicade definitely caused me to almost die. I had go to a rehab for 17 days and after almost 6 months I am still on oxygen. This drug is deadly. I will never take another rheumatoid medicine as long as I live. Homeopathic is what I am doing and I am doing quite well.

have been on infusions for less than a yr at 8 wk intervals. not as effective as I had hoped, after 2-3 wks pain and stiff fingers and feet is back. The expense does not seem to be worth the results. Have had 3 sinus infections in the last 3-4 months, which also concerns me-I have had cronic sinus problems for a long time and do not want to go there again, as I had seemed to finally get the frequency of those infections under control and now it is back.

Had been on Lialda for over 1 year. Then started Remicade about 9 months ago and is truly life-changing. Some minor discomfort getting used to injections (and bruising, muscle soreness associated) during 1st 6 weeks of loading doses. Relief literally within week after first dose. No side effects other than mild tiredness 1 day after treatment each time. Thankfully allowed me to go back to normal life activities with enough energy to chase after 2 small children, finally, once again.

I have been taking Remicade infusions for 2 years and have had wonderful results. Occasionally I have a flair up. Then I take 30 mg of prednisone for 3 days, 20mg for 3 days and 10mg for 3 days. Its wonderful to know what to do when a flair up happens. I am 80 yrs old and I am still working 4 hrs. every day. I have no pain and very little stiffness. I was in a wheel chair before remicade, so I am so greatful for this drug. It has been a miracle drug for me. The doctor says I can be on it for at least 12 more years. It works for me.Read More Read Less

Please be very careful taking this medication - it is powerful. If you are sufering from any other condition (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) be SURE to coordinate care. This was not done for my dear friend. Altho it helped his autoimmune eye condition, it accelerated his pulse rate (a potential side effect) to the point it, combined with unmonitored other conditions, led to a fatal heart attack at a young age. This will not always be the case, but if his physicians had taken the proper care to work together, it might not have happened.Read More Read Less

After three hospitalizations in one year, Dr. said Remicade or remove colon, so I began Remicade. After ist treatment, symptoms diminished dramatically, and colitis has stayed in remission through six treatments/ every 2 months. But, I feel like I am sick ALL THE TIME. Colds, flu-like, vomiting. I feel like crap a lot of the time. Lie in bed for days on end. Going to ask dr. about stopping. I'm tired of feeling like this. I make it to the gym about 3 X a week, and the other fur days, I'm laid out. Then I get depressed because I can't do anything. I got an ugly, red, itchy rash of sores on my shin, which took months to clear up with steroidal creams, and has permanently scarred (I have to cover with make-up if going bare-legged). I haven't had any really serious illnesses result from the assault on my immune system, but rather a non-stop barrage of small ones that add up. My heart goes out to all the people who have developed serious side effects.l The small ones are bad enough. Almost forgot - both wrists are newly swollen and painful with protruding lumps. Orthopaedist said may be rheumatic involvement. Really?? Seeing rheumatologist this week. God bless you all and get well!Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with Crohn's in my early 40's so that has been 30 plus years. Have had one resection; started on Remicaide about 6 years ago and get it every 6 weeks. It has been a miracle for me and side effects have been minimal. Because of many "skip areas" further surgery was no longer an option. Thank goodness for the research that produced this drug!

I am very pleased with this medication. I have greatly reduced my pain meds. My goal is to stop them all together, I think this is possible. I developed Arthritis at the age of 15, I am 37 now. I thought prednisone was the hot tip, But prolonged use cost me 7 compression fractions in my back. Plus now I have osteoporosis. This med seems to have far less risk vs reward. Also I have rejoined my life, in the gym, school, and work. Be sure to keep an eye on your doctor, and what they give you. this was a very costly lesson. Thank you for your time, and listening to me. I take 600 units of Remicade for Pulmonary Sarcoidosis every 8 weeks. I have been on it for 5 years now and my breathing is much improved. It is a pain to have to go and sit the 2.5 hours for IV infusion, but sure beats the alternative! I do get extremely tired and dizzy for 3 days after each infusion, but if I go on Fridays, by Monday Im pretty much feeling back to normal. Without this drug, I would not be able to breath or be dead. It is a lifesaver for me. Wish the FDA would approve it for Sarcoidosis patients with proof of positive results!!!Read More Read Less
