Here is an honest review: minastrin is chewable, it doesn't taste that bad, most people here are overreacting. It tastes like one of those dot candies that come on paper, but if said candies had gotten old and kind of gnarly. Not the worst, not the best. I had been on loestrin 24 fe for 7 years. It was very disheartening to find that they would be changing the birth control that I had beco...

I gave this BC a poor rating because I have not started on the pack yet. I am switching over from Lo Loestrin Fe. The only problem I had on Loestrin was break through bleeding and thats it. The dr. told me the dose was to low for me since I wasn't getting my period until the middle of the pack, etc. I read the reviews on my new BC (Minastrin) and I'm worried, but people reading these reviews that ...

Like others, I was forced to find a new BC once Loestrin became unavailable. I switched onto this pill because I was told it was exactly the same as Loestrin, minus the chewing part. I've only been on this for almost 3 weeks, but I've had some issues with it. I was on Loestrin for 6 years and never had a single problem. On Minastrin, I get random headaches, random nausea, random spurts of being tired, and I have had this annoying pain on my side for almost 3 days, but who knows if it's related to the pill. My doctor said you have to give BC pills at least 3 months to kick in and let your body adjust, so as long as these things stay minor for me, I will continue taking it in hopes of my body adjusting. It took me forever to find a pill that worked for me, so I was pretty bummed when I found out Loestrin was gone. :( I'm hoping that the differences in these two pills are minor, and hope my body will adjust onto it soon. I was forced to switch from Loestrin 24 to Minastrin. I had absolutely no side effects at all with Loestrin. As soon as I started Minastrin I was moody, tired all the time, I had no appetite but somehow always felt bloated and my breast were terribly sore.

After using Loestrin 24 for years with NO side effects I was forced to switch to Minastrin 24. After about 2 weeks of starting it, I became majorly bloated and gassy after I eat anything. I am not a fan and am going to try and get off of it ASAP.

Currently 3 days into my 2nd pack and have already developed high blood pressure (low blood pressure runs in my family) and tension headaches. Needless to say I will not continue the 2nd pack and will try to get my money back for the 3rd.

i think i'm on my 2nd or 3rd pack. i don't get the crazy mood swings, actually more chill than when i was on loestrin. not getting the breakouts. i am having the big boob thing happen, which could be b/c of the bloating & feeling like i'm gaining weight. not a fan. i know why they've made this change, but i wish they'd just give me back my old bc. i'll give it another month or 2, but if things don't level out i'm going to have to search for a new bc.

So glad I'm not the only one...I'm not one to complain and this is honestly my first review on ANYTHING. But like with everyone else, was switched to this medication unknowingly. I receive my birth control in a 6 month supply and this last bulk included 2 Minastrin packs. I used Loestrin for a good 2 years and had absolutely NO side effects. I'm halfway through my second pack of Minastrin and I've been bleeding 2-3 days every other week (which isn't a huge deal, more annoying than anything), horrible lower back pain that will not cease, BLOATING (I take care of myself so I WONT bloat but this will not go away), I've cried 4 times just in the past few days over nonsense, and have been in a generally depressed state. I made sure there were no other stressors that could've triggered this ridiculous emotional roller coaster and finally connected the dots and realized these symptoms presented after starting Minastrin..... I will be switching at my next appointment.Read More Read Less

I absolutely hate this medication. Like some of you, I was switched from loestrin to this med. In the last two years my period had almost subsided. It took this bc only one month to reverse that. Heavy bleeding this month. I'm not staying on it any longer. Very disappointed!

As many others, I was suprisingly forced to switch to minastein because Loestrin 24 fe was being discontinued. Since then I have had the worst experience with any birth control. I was on Loestrin for many years with no problems at all. The first thing is who wants to chew a birth control pill?? They are so tiny barely getting under your teeth; then you don't know if it's as effective swallowing it completely. That was my first confusion. Secondly,Ii also went thru the moody thing; feelings of wanting to cry. Then two weeks into taking this new pill, I'm bleeding again. WTH? So I continue thinking my body needs to adjust to the new pill but thinking why should I if its suppose to be tge same pill in formula. But thats not the worst part. The bleeding finally stops but then a week later, which was a week before my next menstrual, I get these cramps that almost killed me. The first few days I tried to deal w them by taking alece. I even gave myself a laxative thinking maybe its gas. Both things didn't work. Two days later, I'm in ER getting a cat scan to make sure my appendex wasn't ready to come out. They found nothing: suggested I go see my GYN. I got some motrin 800 for the pain which helped alot. The next week my period came on so the cramps remained. Of course they subsided when my period went off but guess what... A week after (which is this past Monday) breakthru bleeding again and since then. I'm seeing my GYN in 4 days. I CAN NOT WAIT!! I'm sorry but this is not the same drug as you can see. My body hates it. Too bad Loestrin is gone. It was tge Heaven of this Hell.Read More Read Less

I was a Loestrin lover just like many on this thread. When the price increased, I simply could not afford it and was placed on Microgestin. I was recently told that Minastrin was identical to Loestrin and was extremely excited to take it. I have been taking it for about two weeks now, and have not experienced any of the side effects I have read on here. In fact, my libido has skyrocketed compared to what it was on Microgestin. I do not like the fact that I have to chew it, but that is not a reason for me to not take it. I plan to do another review after my first mentrual cycle on this pill, but so far so good!Read More Read Less

I do not like Minastrin. I was on Loestrin 24Fe for 3.5 years until recently being switched to Minastrin due to Loestrin being discontinued. So far I am not happy with Minastrin and although it is supposedly the bioequivalent to Loestrin 24Fe, I am experiencing side effects I never have had while on Loestrin. I have been through 3 packs of Minastrin and have been having problems with skin that I have never had before - I am breaking out often, and my normally very dry skin has become very oily. I am also experiencing more bloating, which was rarely an issue while I was on Loestrin. I am nervous to find out further side effects from this pill as I seem to be noticing more and more with every pack - and they don't seem to be subsiding. Overall I am very unhappy with this brand as well as being forced to switch - I am planning to speak to my doctor next week about trying another brand.Read More Read Less

I have been taking minastrin for a few months now for endometriosis (I take it continuously, without off days). It works as well for me as the loestrin. Minimal side effects after the initial adjustment period.

As everyone else, I had to make the switch from Loestin 24 to Minastrin and I have completely skipped 2 periods (and I am not pregnant) while still getting the cramps. I have an a 3 week long headache where on days it turns into a horrible migraine which is the one of the main reasons why I went on the pill in the first place. Loestrin completely got rid of the headaches but after starting Minastrin they were back almost immediately with a vengeance, along with bloating and possible weight gain. After my first week of the second month on it, I completely stopped taking the pill and my headaches have actually lightened and my weight is getting back to normal.Read More Read Less

This is the worst birth control pill ever. I was switch to this pill by the pharmacist. Only three weeks in this pill I have bad mood swings, breakouts, sluggish, and bloated everyday. This is the first time experiencing this ever. Avoid this pill!!

Like everyone, I was forced to Ministrin after Loestrin was discontinued. It doesn't seem to be the same. I have been on this for 3 pill packs now and the side effects don't seem to be subsiding. I am breaking out on my chin but the skin around my eyes is extremely itchy and dry. It seems to make me feel melancholy, where the loestrin totally reversed my depression and I felt great. Also lots of bloating. And the chewable thing? Who chews pills over the age of 10? Yuck.

I was taking Loestrin 24 for 7 years and was happy. When I was told they discontinued it I was bummed. I started taking Minastrin 24 fe, I was assuming it would be the same, but it ended up not. Now I get periods and cramps. No Bueno.
