After my 6th afib bout in 5 years and 4 electro cardioversions my cardiologist suggested cryoablation. My brother had this done over a year ago. I am one of the worst patients he has... I never take my rythmol or Toprol... I can take a years worth of drugs, or get zapped once every 12 months. Anyway this time they put me on eliquis in prep for ablation. My doctor is very popular and its a 7 we...

In 2020, after a cardioversion, my cardiologist put me on 5mg dose of Eliquis 2x day to prevent blood clots and stroke. Right away I noticed pinkish urine and reported it to my doctor. I have kidney stones so I guess they attributed the pinkish urine to shedding of the stones. Fast forward to 2022, on vacation out of state, I have a massive bleed, urine is merlot red and clots. Go to local hospital for a thorough exam, they recommend I stop Eliquis until I see my cardiologist/obgyn to be evaluated. I was 64 then, past menopause, ovaries intact and dormant. Kidney stones still there. So where was the bleeding coming from? Still don't know, but once I was off Eliquis, no more pinkish urine, clear as a bell. I will not go back on this drug. Called the pharmaceutical company to report it. Took my info. Never heard back.Read More Read Less

Had an unprovoked DVT and PE - quite out of the blue as I have none of the risk factors - I suspect COVID.... I've been on Apixaban for over a year and at the start I was worried - but it's been OK. I have been snorkelling in Costa Rica and just been to Antarctica - so I'm not letting it hold me back. I've had no side affects at all, apart from some occasional increased bleeding from pre-existing haemorrhoids (a bit alarming but my doctor is unconcerned). Shaving cuts etc seem to be no worse than before. I'd rather not be on it, but I don't want another PE that's for sure!Read More Read Less

I've been taking eliquis since December 2022, I had a dvt in hawaii while on vacation and after 2 emergency surgeries to remove the massive clot throughout my entire left leg the surgeon put me on eliquis 2x daily, going into 2024 I'm still using it. I have had no issues with eliquis at all and I have to be on it life long due to some wonderful blood mutations I found out I have genetically. I am sorry to hear that some people have had really crappy experiences with eliquis as it is a life saver for me. On top of the other things I've listed after surgery I developed venous reflux throughout my left leg which means my blood flow sucks and the leg is usually sore and veins swell often. I hope they never take this off the market especially for individuals like myself who depend on it to keep them alive now. I personally never wanna go through that scary experience ever again.. Best wishes for anyone dealing with bad side effects from eliquis, I truly hope your doctors help you find better solutions to keep you alive and well. Stay safe out there!Read More Read Less

I've been on this for a month now and every day I feel worse than the day before. I've had severe sharp pains in the left side of my head around my temple, extremely nauseous, pain in my stomach when I touch it, hurts really bad, and severe pain in my middle lower back in kidney area, doubles me over sometime and I feel Soo weak, my arms feel heavy at times. I've never felt this feeling...I feel very unwell. Seriously, every day is worse than the day before. Calling my cardiologist tomorrow, trying to stay out of the ERRead More Read Less

I was prescribed Eliqius due to blood clots in my left leg which is common for some cancer patients. I believe the drug is working to help with the blood clots but the dizziness and nausea is terrible. Normally I feel better after a week off chemo but it just continues now that I am on Eliqius.

This medication sent me to the er twice for bleeding urine. Needless to say it caused me severe problems. I stopped taking it 4 months ago and if I had it my way I would like to see it off the market for how dangerous it is when it comes to risk/benefit.

HI- I am unsure if this medication could be the cause of my sudden extreme hair loss. Has anyone else had this issue. It's coming out very fast. Thanks.

I’ve been on Eliquis after being diagnosed with AFIB. I had a failed catheter ablation, and while I’d like to get off the blood thinners, Eliquis is a significantly better blood thinner than say Coumadin or Plavix. No testing necessary.

After 3 weeks the ultrasounds how the clot in my left leg gettng smaller. And my leg pain went away after 10 days. But the side effects are horrible. Have random changes in heart beat, breathing difficult, headaches, bloating. The first week required a double dose, I thought I was dying. It says take with or without food. I found side effects are a little less if I eat before and after each dose. And for me, It seems better if I;m active right after each dose. If I go to bed after taking it I feel terrible and have difficulty going to sleep, It's has the worst side effects that I have ever expierienced. Eliquis highlights bleeding as the primary side effect. That's the only thing I have not had an issue with. I guess it may save my life, so I'll continue taking it.Read More Read Less

Be sure to checkout their coupon for 10 dollar copay. Without the coupon it’s 236 per month for me. No mental reactions yet or other side effects. No blood monitoring! The blister pack makes it easy to be sure I take it but still need daily alarm at night to remind myself.

Two years on it, and as far as I know it is working… at least no emergencies re blood clots. I believe it is causing very significant hair loss. Was on Pradaxa for two years prior to two years on Eliquis, & it started hair loss. Doctor changed meds hoping hair loss would stop, but it did not.

I was prescribed Eliquis for a blood clot in my arm. After 2 weeks it was gone but they want me to finish a 3 month treatment. It has been 25 days and I feel as if I am swallowing poison! I have been dizzy, tired, weak legs and arms stuck in bed for hours a day and an overall feeling of being unwell. It also makes me weepy

In Jan 2023 I had what my doctor believes was a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). In April I visited the doctor and he was concerned about that TIA and recommended I get off Xarelto (which I had taken with no issues for a few years) and on Eliquis to hopefully improve my ability to avoid another TIA. Within a couple of days I experienced a heaviness in my head, slight nausea, and a general "not right" feeling with periodic headaches/migraines. Five days I had a nearly full day of a-fib activity which concerned me, but the head issues continued with the nausea. Finally I called my doctor and explained the side effects and he pulled me off the Eliquis and put me back on the Xarelto. Since then those side effects have mostly subsided, but I still have a bit of headaches, but not like I had while on and coming off the Eliquis. Certainly not everyone has the same experiences with medications, but this was the first time in my 50 years on this Earth that I had side effects of a drug. No matter what if you are experiencing side effects after starting a new drug, talk to your doctor immediately, don't wait, it could be life-threatening and so good communication with your doctor is critical. Personally, I am sticking with the Xarelto and sticking to taking it with my largest meal of the day and hoping I don't have another TIA or worse. Good luck to everyone out there dealing with a-fib and other conditions requiring blood thinner.Read More Read Less

Have taken eliquis for about 2 weeks for Atrial Fibrillation. I don’t seem to have any negative effects if I take it alone. If I take it with my BP meds I get faint and it takes a few hours to get back to normal. Other than that I don’t have a problem.

On it for a PE. No problems, no side effects. Get it free as on the NHS and am over 60. Much better than being on warfarin as much less monitoring needed. I am so happy it works for PEs. Convenient++. I set an alarm 7 am and 7 pm on my mobile to help remember doses and mark it on the box once taken so I don't take it twice. No bleeding problems either.

I have been taking Eliquis for about a month to prevent the formation of blood clots. I was recently diagnosed with AFib and after doing a cardioversion to regulate my heartbeat, the emergency doctor gave me a prescription of 5 mg (twice daily) of Eliquis. I live in Canada but am presently out of the country until December. When coming back home (in a month and a half), I am supposed to see a cardiologist who will do a follow-up and reassess my situation. I am also taking pills for high blood pressure and antacids for GERD issues (which may be related to my cardiac problems). My experience with Eliquis has been relatively ok, but not excellent. During the first days that I started to take Eliquis, I had severe headaches and was really scared and ready to stop taking the medication. The headaches were terrible. I also had constipation and still have constipation from time to time. I realized that I was not always taking the medication at the proper time because of differences in time zone - it's very important to ensure that the two doses are taken about 12 hours apart. Once I was able to take the medication at the proper times, the headaches diminished significantly. But, over the last couple of days, I have had a bad headache on one side of my head and my neck - last night I was unable to sleep. I am very stressed by this pain which is not helping my pain, especially because I am not sleeping well. I can only think about negative things, including the formation of blood clots in my brain or my lungs. I realize that Eliquis is helping to prevent the formation of blood clots, but it's not 100% certain. I have started to take Tylenol and hope that can help with the headaches. As I am writing this, I only have a small headache. I am also thinking that I should make an effort of taking Eliquis with food? I'm not sure? For the moment, I cannot change medications because I need to see the cardiologist and this will only happen when back to Canada in December. Are the headaches a common side effect of Eliquis? How long should they last for being considered a serious problem?Read More Read Less
