After my 6th afib bout in 5 years and 4 electro cardioversions my cardiologist suggested cryoablation. My brother had this done over a year ago. I am one of the worst patients he has... I never take my rythmol or Toprol... I can take a years worth of drugs, or get zapped once every 12 months. Anyway this time they put me on eliquis in prep for ablation. My doctor is very popular and its a 7 week wait to get this done... So I've been on it for 4 weeks now. I notice irritability, seem to have a little quicker temper, twitches when I'm tired, general blah feeling... But for 2 months before and 3 months after my procedure I can do that no sweat. Just counting the days.Read More Read Less

I am a 79 years old female. I was on Xarelto but I was losing so much hair that my doctor changed it to Eliquis. I have only been on Eliquis for two weeks but I THINK my hair loss is less but can't tell for sure yet. So far I have no side effect from taking this medicine. Hope taking this meds keep me from losing more hair on my head.

Eliquis is the worst drug I've ever taken in my life. After only six days I developed the following side effects: 1. SEVERE exhaustion. Couldn't even walk to the mailbox. 2. SEVERE breathlessness. 3. Hypotension (low blood pressure) 4. Blurred vision. 5. SEVERE cognitive failure. Felt like my head was stuffed with cotton. 6. Periods of rapid heart beat. 7. Insomnia. 8. BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) 9. Ravenous appetite; absolutely craved carbs. Would have to get up in the middle of the night and eat. Side-effects diminished and most eventually disappeared completely several days after halting Eliquis.Read More Read Less

I've been on Eliquis for 4 weeks. I'm going back on warfarin. I simply cannot afford it. Wanted to see what the 2015 Part D plans did with it. I'm going into the donut hole, on all offerings. I've been on warfarin for life since 2001. Cardiologist wanted me to give it a try-no thanks. Scary side effects.

My healthy 86 year old father suffered a brain bleed stroke after 6 months on Eliquis, which is a possible side effect of this drug. Note only FDA approved for less than 2 years! Heavy marketing on ease of use over other thinners, but at what cost? Now he can take no thinners and 5 times more likely to have another stroke.

Developed involuntary twitching in arms, hands and elsewhere in body. Doctor said this was a side effect of Eliquis. Switched to Warfarin and twitches have subsided.

I have been on warfarin and would like to change to Eliquis, so I can eat green leafy vegetables which would be good for my thyroid problems.

Was taken off Xarelto by GP because of dreadful muscle and joint pain ( I have arthritis) and put on Warfarin. At a follow-up app't in April with neurologist after TIA last fall, he wanted me off Warfarin and on to Eliquis. I have been on it a month with NO side effects! wonderful!

Took as prescribed by cardiologist for atrial fibrilation, from Tuesday to Friday AM, then stopped. Light-headedness, chest pressure, intense headaches. 2AM to 5AM Saturday, had the "headache from hell", agonizing with no relief: both temples and base of skull at back of neck. Intermittent severe and debilitating headaches Saturday and Sunday. It is now Tuesday, a week since starting med, and I still have severe headaches and chest pressure. It is understood that patients have varied levels of reaction to meds: I have had intense discomfort and pain from lumbar surgeries, knee replacements, hip replacement, cervical fusion, various major injuries from playing football and wrestling in college, but the pain I experienced when taking Eliquis is the worst pain I have ever experienced.Read More Read Less
