The cost of this medicine is prohibitive!! Stop the expensive tv ads and reduce the price for us patients.

After my 6th afib bout in 5 years and 4 electro cardioversions my cardiologist suggested cryoablation. My brother had this done over a year ago. I am one of the worst patients he has... I never take my rythmol or Toprol... I can take a years worth of drugs, or get zapped once every 12 months. Anyway this time they put me on eliquis in prep for ablation. My doctor is very popular and its a 7 we...

I was on Xarelto for about two weeks before being put on Eliquis. I noticed a lot of people talking about how expensive it is, but you can go to the manufacturer's website and enroll in 2 year program where you ONLY pay $10!

I love it. I was on warfarin and had to do the blood tests once sometimes twice a month. I hate needles, this is perfect.

I suddenly developed anemia, which i read Eliquis can cause this. Now i notice i am more fatigued, and worse, i am losing my hair! I had stomach surgery, later developed DVT, and still have it 2 1/2 months later. I also notice i have a horrible achiness every morning. I mean deep in my bones. Not muscles, bones. It is awful. The only thing i can say is i think it is helping my DVT some, but i still have it. These side effects are devastating. Esp. to be a woman and losing your hair.

I have been taking this medication, 5mg, for 3 months and am very happy with it because I experience little to no side affects. One thing I have noticed has been that I get more insect bites, specifically mosquito bites that swell. Has anyone experienced this?

I began taking it for an upcoming ablation to stop my lone afib. I had to take it one month before I went in for it, then for 3 months afterwards. Due to scheduling I took it for 2 months before I went in and now 4.5 months after. I have horrible side effects from irritability, Insomnia, digestive problems, sexual problems, first stage kidney failure, excessive protein in urine, forgetfulness, confusion, knee problems, whole body stiffness, and a bad cough... All these are side effects of this drug. Im trying to get my doctor to OK me getting off of it but so far no luck. He told me I had to remain on it for 3 months after ablation but he is waiting for the results of my halter monitor before giving me permission. I stopped using it on my own because it was just too hard to do any more. I have no afib signs since I had the operation so Im hoping Im low risk. I certainly hope I am, but this drug just was beadting me down too badly.Read More Read Less

Have used Eliquis for 1 year with no problems. Taking 5mg AM and 5mg PM, at same times every day. Also, I make sure I eat before or after taking Eliquis. I also take 6.25mg Carvepen AM and PM. I have blood type O and follow the D'Adamo blood type diet which means no dairy and no coffee which used to cause me lots of digestive problems.

I used Eliquis for 8 mo. without any problems. Then I developed a stomach bleed. My whole stomach was black, blue, purple, and extreme pain. I grind my teeth when I'm in pain, so I broke off a front tooth. Can't have it fixed because of bad bone structure from being on Prednisone for 11 yrs. I just paid $325 for a 3 mo. supply of Eliquis (unopened)(with insurance) and cannot return it. Now I'm in the donot hole, toothless, out $325, and on Aspirin. Why was I not on Aspirin to begin with? The pain & stress Eliquis caused is unimaginable. If you use any of these blood thinners, be on the lookout for any extreme bleeding.Read More Read Less

I had an elective total knee replacement. I have no health problems (take no other drugs). I don't smoke, and haven't had any alcohol since before my hip replacement 8 weeks ago. Right after surgery I had Lovenox shots in stomach for 14 days, the discontinued any anti-coagulants. Ten days later I was in the E.R. and admitted overnight for "significant DVT" in calf and thigh of operated side. I had one night in hospital for the DVT's I started oral Eliquis (2 x/day). Immediately, the red swollen leg and leg pain started going away. The DVT's started dissapating immediately with Eliquis. I was discharged to home after only on night in hospital. The DVT's are contimuing to dissapate, but I still must elevate my leg after a couple of hours, as the pain and swelling starts gradually returning. Doctor says I will take Eliquis for three months. A prescription for a 60 day supply of 5 mg tabs billed out at Wal Mart Pharpacy at $345.00. However, a coupon from Bristol Myers Squibb was given to me upon hospital discharge so that I only paid $10.00 for the 60 day supply. Thank you BMS! Overall this drug is a God send. (Don't do anything stupid like hit your head while on this medication).Read More Read Less

I can only take half of the normal dose due to nausea. Even on a half dose, I have nausea and great retention of water. I have gained 25 lbs. in the 16 months on this drug. Water retention is a big problem.
