I have lived most of my life in sunny Florida, Georgia, California, and Texas and would spend all my time outdoors if it were possible. So I realize I am just paying for past lack of diligence in protecting Scottish skin. This is my second round with Fluorouracil, 5%. The first time I treated only the back of my hands and the skin is now soft with just some age spots. The whole process took...

I can only describe its use as pure hell. Imagine putting your head in a fire ant nest and you will come close to feelings I've experienced. At times I've been unable to function; driving I've even had to pull over and stop. I could go on, but this is enough for you to get the impression. I'm sure it performs its intended function, but that needs to be on someone besides me!

I just completed two weeks of twice daily full face application. First week my face just became red and blotchy. The second week it became irritated and sore. First week after treatment my face became like a bad sunburn on all the red spots. Second week it all peeled off and soon became very clear. The treatment is much like nitrogen treatment. A little uncomfortable and you look bad for awhile but worth it. My face had allot of scale but I had no idea there was as much damage until the meds made it red. Im glad I did it but do it in the cool time of the year, the cream is like a 80 sun screen.Read More Read Less

Thanks to the other reviewers...burning and redness all over my face but no burning or redness on hands when used the same...wonder why? Previously used for squamous cell on hand.. very effective for that for me.

treatment involved some oozing and unsightly scalp areas. itching and pain can be controlled by applying FLUOCINOLONE ACETONIDE TOPICAL SOLUTION USP, 0.01% ten minutes or so after Fluorouracil. after a three week regime, my scalp is healing nicely.

After 2 weeks, there are 3 distint red patches on my face and one under my eyebrow. I feel one of the side effects is sleeplessness. Now I wait for 2 weeks and do not use the cream, then my dermatologist will evaluate if it has gotten rid of my actinic keratosis spots.

As others have noted, one must truly plan for the use of this medication - to go underground for threeweeks! You look like and feel like a burn victim during the use time. Some recommened doing one part of the face at a time versus all the affected areas. Get it over with is my recommnedation. It may hurt but the hurt is over versus the extended treatment plan.

Many years of sun exposure left me with crusty patches on my forehead and nose. My dermatologist prescribed the 5FU treatment. After a week, it was apparent that the damage was far more widespread than I originally thought. After two weeks, I had the typical splotchy, red, and crusty patches, and we discontinued treatment after 3 weeks. This treatment is not very attractive, but it needed to be done, and after a few weeks it is healing well. I plan to limit my future exposure to the sun and hope not to have to repeat the procedure in the near future. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the 5FU treatment.Read More Read Less

Some pain and unsightliness aside, I belive this treatment to be working as prescribed. I'm 5 weeks through a 6 week application period. It will be interesting to see my 'new' skin.
