Please watch out for these bulletin boards. I am a very sensitive person, health-obsessed and health food and everything, and I have had nothing but a good experience- no side effects to my surprise. Just relief. Also had in-depth conversations with doctors about generics vs. main brand and there is no difference. I have switched between Kariva and Viorele etc and no change. I love this drug.! The worst birth control I have ever used in my entire life. I used to take Azurrette and, like others, CVS switched it out for this new kind. I have been taking it for a little over three months and it is TERRIBLE. My first period on it lasted for over two weeks when normally it is just a few days long. It was so heavy and not at all what I was used to. I also experienced migraines and heavy mood ...

This is my second week on viorele. 6 months ago I was on the nuva ring and had no major side defect except for weight gain. I know the body takes up to 2-3 months to adjust to any kind of birth control BUT ever since I started viorele I have gotten a yeast infection, acne (large cysts on face and back), mood swings/anger, nausea also no sex drive. I'm such a happy and positive person, never in my life have I felt so weak and unhappy. I do not think waiting 2-3 months is worth it, to see if this birth control will get better or worse. All I've experienced is negative side effects. Read More Read Less

This is a terrible pill! I was taking kariva and I felt great but ever since the pharmacy changed it to viorelle I've felt terrible, more depressed and moody and also my period has become almost non-existent, and I also have had spotting. I'm finally changing pills after a year, because I can't take it anymore. I would warn against this pill as I have not been sensitive to any of the other 2 I have tried.

I am one of the many people to review this pill that took Kariva for years and loved it. LOVED it. Never had a problem. No acne, no cramps, very regular and light periods…. all of a sudden my pharmacy started giving me Viorele and I'm miserable. I am unlike most people on here whose periods got much heavier and irregular- my periods disappeared and NOT in a good way. I cramp terribly, feel bloated, and it can't be ok to not get a period. Also, as petty as it sounds, the packaging SUCKS. I've already called my doctor to see about getting a different birth control. I guess if worse comes to worse I will just stop taking BC pills altogether. Read More Read Less

I started using this because my Gianvi/gen Yaz prescription had gone completely useless for my body. Almost like it got immune to it after 6 or 7 years. So, I still wanted something to help with PMDD symptoms and acne so this was the best suggestion by my doctor. I seem to have alternating months of one with barely any bleeding and lots of cramps, to the next month bleeding normal and with little cramping and extreme symptoms. Overall, I think it's been a good balance and fit with my Welbutrin. Don't let scary reviews make the decision for you. Keep in mind that some of these women are experiencing those symptoms from other things causing hormonal imbalances, like eating disorders, significant eating and lifestyle changes, etc. Read More Read Less

DO NOT TAKE VIORELE. This was the worst experience of my life. I suffered from extreme depression, intense pms symptoms, headache, nausea, bloating, dizziness and I just didn't feel like myself at all. After almost 2 weeks I had to stop this pill because I couldn't take feeling like this anymore. I would not recommend this birth control to anyone.

I was given this medication to help with my cysts. It worked great at taking my cramps from a 10 to about a 5 and it really helped the heavy bleeding. However I experienced in characteristic mood swings, I felt very weepy and anxious.

Reading the comments, this all makes sense now. I also go to CVS pharmacy and I was on Kariva and they switched it to Viorele. I told my doctir they I was getting dark spots on my face and she switched back to Kariva and CVS gave me Viorele again. I have also noticed behavior issues and weight gain. These comments did help me realize I definitely need to get off this birth control pill.

I am writing this for one reason and one reason only- if you are suffering emotionally from taking this pill please know that you are not alone, that it is the pill (not just you) and to STOP TAKING IT. Seriously. I have been suffering from depression, anger outbursts, and deep sadness. The smallest thing sends me spiraling and this pill has even caused a split with one of the best guys of my life. He simply couldn't take the up one moment and down the next. The bullshit about birth control not being linked to depression or mood swings is just that- bullshit. Also, like other women have said sex sucks now, I'm dry and uninterested and because I am dry it is painful. I'm so ready for this pack to be over so I can get back to living my life. For the last 10 years I have taken either Kariva, Murcette or Azurette. All of those were fantastic with no residual side effects. My most recent insurance landed me taking Viroele for the last few months & I have had a 20 pound weight gain with a constant hunger that never could be completely satiated. In other words, I felt constantly hungry around the clock that no amount of eating would curb. I finally realized it was this pill. I have since switched back to Azurette & am hoping to see results asap. Read More Read Less

I've been on this medication for a week and I love it. I have always been overly emotional, I get into things with people because of my emotions. I am very sensitive in general and this medication has reduced that for me. I feel stable and grounded, unlike before when I was feeling all over the place. If you are a women who is overly emotional this medication is for you. I love it.

Even after taking Viorele correctly for almost a year I became pregnant and had a miscarriage. I was unaware of the pregnancy I expected to be safe as long as I was using my birth control correctly. I know the risks and I did not take any medications that would have counteracted the pill and I am very unsatisfied with the effectiveness.

I was on the depo shot for a year and a half never bleed, switched off of that about 6 months ago onto viorele and the first period I woke up at 230 am with side pains so bad that I had yo go to the hospital bc thought my appendix burst, this pill made me constipated except for the green/orange week. That has since gotten better but I have a week until my period is supposed to start and I'm spotting like crazy defiantly switching to something else soon

Was so scared to switch because of the previous reviews. I was recently on Gildess but it made my periods longer and worse so I asked to switch. I always get nausea with any birth control but I've barely had any, my acne is gone, not sure if I can lose weight yet or not, and I don't feel depressed (and I made the switch during finals week of college). To all the negative reviews, sometimes BC just doesn't work well with your body but that's not the pills fault. Also, you won't know how it reacts until the third month you are taking it. I've switched BC a few times and I'm satisfied with this one so far! Read More Read Less

What a nightmare. This gave me terrible pounding migraines every day. Made me nauseous, dizzy, very tired, unable to focus, very depressed, irritable, and self-conscious. I wasn't able to function with my daily activities so I had to stop. It does improve my complexion. My husband said I look younger. Too bad.

Ive been on birth control for the past 14 years because my periods were too bad not to be. Ive tried everything from orthotrycline(spelling?) to the patch and Uva ring. Ive had some bad side effects on a lot of them and some more serious then I have now, but the side effects I have now are an everyday thing. I already have cronic migraines, with Viorele I have to take my migraine medicine every day. I'm miserable, I hate everyone and everythin. My sex drive is non existent and I NEVER had that problem, I enjoyed sex so much that I am actually an adult romance consultant. You know how hard it can be to convince people to have more bedroom time when I can't even remember the last time my boyfriend and I had sex? The side effects for this are too inconvenient for me. I'm actually calling my dr tomorrow and switching back to SeasoniqueRead More Read Less

I was prescribed Kariva. Rite-Aid fulfilled the script with Kariva for only the first month before changing it to Viorelle without telling me. I thought hey , no big deal. Never had a problem with a generic before. Viorelle was no good. Constant headaches... acne, which i never get! and the worst part was constant spotting. In 27 years I have never experienced spotting and for the last 4 months of Viorelle use I spot for between a length of 8-11 days before then having a real period. So I'm just bleeding for half of the month. I told Rite-Aid i hated it so they put me back on Kariva and none of these symptoms happen.Read More Read Less
