I have been on Xarelto for one month. For the first 2 weeks I had no side effects but the longer I stay on it the more I have noticed that I am exhibiting symptoms I have never had. I am having muscle spasms around my eyes and eyelids. I have seen an opthalmologist and all is fine but they continue and are very annoying. I see that a side effect of this drug is muscle spasms. Also, I am itching a...
My family member suffered a fatal cerebral hemorrhage related to xarelto use. This drug should be banned!

I have been on this drug (and several others for heart rate and blood pressure) since June 1, 2012. I have lots of side effects and don't know which drugs are causing what. Lower leg and feet tingling, loud buzzing on right side of head/ear, worse back pain than ever and in new place, pain in joints that never hurt before but with history of arthritis, minor gum bleeding, I do not bruise any worse since Dr. reduced to 15mg,, I do not have any bleeding after blood draws or injections. Maybe my dose is too low. I do have a lot of teeeth breaking away from fillings. I have been cutting all my drugs, except the Xarelto down with the intent to stop taking all of them. I am still having all the side effects, and the jerking of both knees, preventing sleep and having to take muscle relaxers. I do not wish to have a stroke so will take the Xarelto. My medicare part D pays for mine. It took a prior authorization from dr. to get it paid for, but they do. I only have a small co-pay.I am female and about to turn 70 in July.Read More Read Less

Diagnosed with multiple pulmonary embolism's (clots in every lobe, both lungs) Started Xarlto 15mg twice daily for one month, currently once daily for past six months, and will continue for another six at least according to my physician. Extremely easy to use, no need to check blood for clotting times, adjusting dose etc. Cost is about $40/month with my particular insurance, which is well worth it to me. Few if any side effects that I can tell, I do experience some heartburn, but then I do with most any meds I take, so I just take OTC pepcid daily, I really haven't even noticed any unusual bruising or bleeding and I work out five times a week at CrossFit which is very intensive with lots of weightlifting and strength training. Sure I've had problems with fatigue but I attribute that to the lung damage from the clots. Sure it sucks to have to be on this or any medication but I really can't think of anything negative about it other than I'll have to be cautious not to do anything that can cause bruising or bleeding.Read More Read Less

This is the worst medication I have ever taken in my life. The reaction was so severe that I seriously thought I was going to die there and then. And, there is no way to reverse this medication. My pharmacist was horrified that the doctor who prescribed this failed to monitor me, and gave a high dosage even though the suggestion of half that amount is suggested for older patients. I felt slightly sick after first dose, and became violently ill after second dose. I will never take this medication again, nor will I trust the medical profession, or big pharma. I now use krill oil, cod liver oil, vit E, Enzyme Q10, B vitamins, and nattokinase and ginkgo biloba to prevent clots and eat oily fish, garlic, onions, tomatoes and other foods known to prevent clots. I continue to walk five miles a day and have lost weight. It is sickening that drug companies continue to torture innocent research animals all in the name of profit. I have no doubt I will live a longer and healthier life without the use of conventional medicine. Read More Read Less

I started taking Xarelto in April of 2013 20mg QD. It was discontinued in the lastweek of October 2013. I had been off Xarelto for about a week when I had routine labs done at my PCP office. My liver enzymes were elevated; 11/07 AST=99 and ALT= 119 11/19 AST=55 and ALT=75 normal range is AST 10-35 and ALT is 6-29 In Jan. 2014 my liver tests returned to normal I would warn anyone taking this drug to be sure to have LFT's checked frequently. FYI: the MD who told me to stop taking the drug did because there is no antidote if one starts bleeding !Read More Read Less

I have developed hip pain and pain in my right knee and lower leg strong enough to wake me at night. 2 Tylenol enables me to go back to sleep, but the relief lasts only about 3 hours. I'm waiting for a call from my cardiologist, but beware of this med!

I am 19 and have a very large DVT in my left leg, which come to find out is because of a protein deficiency in my blood. I have been on this drug since December 26, 2013. First month was 15mg twice a day and now I am on 20mg once a day. It was working fine at first, no side effects, but when I changed the time I took my dose from morning to night, like the website said to do, I starting having problems. I now feel sick every morning, like I am going to pass out, my leg and hip started to have pain again, and it made my feet cold and tingly. I switched back to taking it in the morning because of this. I went Friday for my 3 month check up and the clot in my leg is still there and the same size as it was when I first was admitted to the hospital. So heres to another 3 months on the pill!! LORD HELP ME.Read More Read Less

Have been taking this drug for almost 2 years. Joint pain, weakness and fatique have been the most common side effect. The past 8 weeks I have been experiencing severe dry, burning lips and tightening of the skin around my mouth sometimes so severe I cannot open my mouth. I have also been experiencing muscle fatigue in my face that includes tingling and numbness. Another side effect is thin skin particularly around my mouth and on my chin. My Doctor has suggested I go off Xarelto and try another medication called Eliquis. Since Xarelto is new, the long term side effects are not known. However,I do feel these issues are a result of the long term side effects of the drug. On a positive note, since taking Xarelto I have significantly reduced the occurrences of migraines.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Xarelto for a DVT that formed after my last half marathon in my lower right leg. I am a 45 year old healthy female. I run and workout 6+ days a week. I noticed the following sypmtoms almost immediately during the first 90 days (note first 21 days on 30mg dose; 20 mg dose since then): tired all the time, increased thirst, nauseated during the day (I take my pill at night before bed). My Dr. prescribed an additional 90 days of drug since I travel by plane overseas for work. This past 45 days I have experienced nose bleeds, blood in stool (bright red) and same sypmtoms listed above. DVT is gone (verified by ultrasound). I just stopped taking the med as I am becoming increasingly worried about the bleeding. Read More Read Less

Took Xarelto 40MG tablets for 21 days. On the last day my legs weighed a ton, became nauseated and violently threw up. Rushed to ER - severe stomach bleeding. Spent 5 days in hospital, 3 in intensive care. Received 10 pints (10) of blood while in hospital.

Too many side effects, such as blisters on my palms and soles of my feet, itching, fatigue. I had a blood clot in my left leg after surgery, it has almost gone way down after three months on this drug. Dr. says I can quit in three more months, if no more clots.

MY HEALTH HAS IMPROVED SINCE BEING ON XARELTO 20MG. THERE IS NO SIGNS OF BARRETTS ESOPHAGUS AND THE FUNGUS UNDER MY TOE NAILS HAS DISAPPEARED. I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH XARELTO. MY DOCTOR STILL HAS ME ON A ASPIRIN (81 MG) A DAY. THE ONLY SIDE AFFECTS THAT I HAVE HAD ARE BRUISING AND THE BLEEDING OF SMALL CUTS.
