I have been on Xarelto for one month. For the first 2 weeks I had no side effects but the longer I stay on it the more I have noticed that I am exhibiting symptoms I have never had. I am having muscle spasms around my eyes and eyelids. I have seen an opthalmologist and all is fine but they continue and are very annoying. I see that a side effect of this drug is muscle spasms. Also, I am itching a...

My family member suffered a fatal cerebral hemorrhage related to xarelto use. This drug should be banned!

My father was on this medication for two weeks, we were really excited to leave Warfin and its frequent medical check ups behind. One morning he woke up with hives, swollen eyes and his throat was getting swollen as well. We called a nurse and she advice to take him to the ER for an allergic reaction. There a doctor told him to stop takig Xarelto. After reading these reviews I am kind of glad he will not take it anymore because of the strong side effects. I feel kind of dissapointed because his cardiologist had told me none of his patients had experience difficulties with this drug. He will be going to see his warfin doctor tomorrow to see if he should continue on it.Read More Read Less

I already had filter from p/e and Dr felt this rx would be right for me. No longer any frequent blood tests. I am back to eating healthy salads. I have been on tenor in for years. Since I eat a early dinner in the field my only problem is remembering to take med. I usually keep in purse. I do need to find out what can I eat should I miss a dinner meal.

44 year old female who has been taking Xarelto 1 year for recurring DVT and PE due to Factor V Leiden and Mthfr. Previously I was on coumadin. I was taking coumadin from age 19 following my first clot to age 43. I was never able to regulate my dose with Coumadin, even though I was diligent in monitoring what I ate, keeping stress low, sleeping adequately, staying hydrated and everything else. Xarelto has been simply amazing. I haven't had any side effects. My "big" leg which has had the clots, has actually started decreasing in size. I attribute this to being finally being consistently anti-coagulated. Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Xarelto after a blood clot formed in my right leg after having a muscle cramp in my right calf that lasted 4-5 days ending once the muscle relaxer my doctor prescribed caused the muscle to relax. I was given the first 15MG pill in the hospital after the test using ultra-sound found the clot. In about 5 hours I had blood in my urine. Went back to the hospital where I had my test and had another series of test run. The doctor said to fill the prescription and take 2 – 15MG tables of Xarelto per day. It was now the next day I did that starting late in the day. By then the bleeding from my kidneys had stopped. Late that night at 11:30pm I took the second. This put in in bed for 18 hours. I could not get out, I could not drink anything nor eat anything and was in pain all over including my kidneys. This was Sunday. I decided to call the doctor first think Monday. Due to Obama Care patients have to call and leave messages and wait to be called back. About 5:30pm I received a call a back. The scheduling attendant begged me to take a Xarelto pill after I explained the last 56 hours and come see the doctor at 11:00am the next morning. By the phone call the bleeding from my kidneys stopped my energy and strength started to return. So, I 5:30pm I gave in and took 1 Xarelto 15MG pill. Within 5 hours the bleeding from my kidneys started again and my energy and strength are gone. In my personal experience Xarelto is not medicine but high priced poison.Read More Read Less

too early to weight benefits vs issues but am concerned that the company helpline (nurse) cannot answer how u know "therapeutic" level, how u test for build-up, side effects beyond posted, success rate, whether it damages kidneys, whether dr choosing to give it to CKD3 patient <30 is ok. Hoping its working--scary tho. Docs don't have answers either. Notice vision changes, subtle headaches, has reduced clot pain when warfarin wasn't. Don't like costs, no antidote but guess I'm over a barrel?

Pulmonary emboli eight months ago from a DVT. Started on Xarelto, then Warfarin for seven months. Experienced many of the "side effects" noted previously - hip, shoulder, joint pain, leg/foot tingling etc. - but NOT on Xarelto. Wonder if those are symptomatic of the clotting disorder? Been on Xarelto for five weeks now and notice no difference, other than my diet can change from the relative strict adherence under Warfarin. So far, so good for me. Ease of use, and no blood tests every week.Read More Read Less

Using for afib in conjunction with Sotolol to control rhythm. Seems I am frequently lethargic along with syncope episodes. Not sure if that is from afib or Xeralto. Going to Msyo for comprehensive consult and possible cryo ablation.

If you take this med. because your doctor tells you to. there is no way to know if you need or not. once they put you on it the ones you need the longest are the over priced and no sub.

I experienced two several-hour afib incidents four months ago and Dr. said I had other silent afibs, so he put me on Xarelto and Toprol XL to minimize chance of a stroke. Everything went fine for 3 months, but then began experiencing nausea, dizziness, severe weakness and generally feeling ill, especially in the morning. Kept getting worse over the next few weeks, so Dr. had me discontinue Xarelto for two days. Felt much better after day 1 and almost normal after day 2. To verify that it was Xarelto's fault, went back on Xarelto for two days and all symptoms returned as bad as before. Unfortunately this is happening when I am out of the country, so I have stopped Xarelto per Dr's. email, but cannot try any alternatives until I get home. Congratulations to all of you who have been successful with this med, but it can be really bad for some of us, and the problems my not appear for several months. I am surprised that these symptoms are not listed as possible side effects when it appears that a lot of people on this site have experienced them.Read More Read Less

Been on Xarelto for the last 4 months. No immediate side effects, not sure if long term side effects will develop. Extremely pricey! Currently have good insurance so it isn't a problem. Hoping to have my doctor discontinue it in a few months due to no recent episode of A-fib. Have an active life style not wanting to be brought down by bump on the head resulting in a bleed. It has/is serving it's purpose.
