I have been on Xarelto for one month. For the first 2 weeks I had no side effects but the longer I stay on it the more I have noticed that I am exhibiting symptoms I have never had. I am having muscle spasms around my eyes and eyelids. I have seen an opthalmologist and all is fine but they continue and are very annoying. I see that a side effect of this drug is muscle spasms. Also, I am itching a...
My family member suffered a fatal cerebral hemorrhage related to xarelto use. This drug should be banned!

I had been on Xarelto 20mg once a day since after my ablation December 2014. My left knee has been in pain, sometimes loss my strenth & constipation problem since I took Xarelto. I asked to doctor if he can stop Zarelto but he said to wait for a while. Hopefully he will discontinue for the next visit.

I have been on warfarin since 2009 for a pulminary ebolism in both lungs and a large blood clot in my leg in 2011. I noticed that as time progressed I had a lot of hip pain. So bad that I could not walk from my car into a store let alone walk around the store. I did some research and stopped my warfarin. Within 2 days a was able to walk and run without hip pain. I spoke with my Dr. who of course told me I should never have stopped it , but I had to find out. I felt like I was 120. My life had to be better than this. Since I must have some type of blood thinner, since I keep having clot reaccurances. My Dr. gave me xarelto. The 1st symptom I had was extreme tiredness(this lasted about 1 week. After that energy returned to normal. The hip pain has returned not as fierce as with the warfarin, but I imagine the longer I am on xarelto the pain will creep back up to the high level it was before I stopped the warfarin. I am now having bad headaches, which I am sure is another side effect of the xarelto. I do not have to worry about my inr numbers with xarelto, which is good. I do not get the pain in my lungs because of low inr number, because there is no monitoring with xarelto and that is great. I will have to take some type of this medication for the rest of my life and I see my way of life deteorating very quickly with both of these medications. As I see it either way it is a losing battle. If I continue the medication I end up in a wheel chair on pain medications that will not help over time and not be able to enjoy my life; or I stop taking the thinners and end up with a clot that ends my life. Either way it looks like my life is over! Sorry if this sounds very bleak. This is how I am looking at this right now.Read More Read Less

I had knee replacement surgery in November 2014. In January 2015 I started having a burning sensation in my chest and was diagnosed with Pleurisy and treated with anti-inflammatories. When my symptoms did not subside my doctor sent my to the hospital for a CT scan which revealed a pulmonary embolism and immediately prescribed Xarelto. Since taking this medication, I had to start physical therapy for my knee again because of severe pain behind the knee and loss of motion. Am also experiencing burning and tingling in my leg. Can't wait to get off this medication! Is also very expensive!Read More Read Less

3 Months now, No major side problems like others. I have A fib and WPW. Had blood clot in lower leg, was on Warfafin for 7 years. I have not had any major afib events in the last 60 days. Feels good not feeling heart beating out of my chest. I hope this continues to work. VA Hospital cannot get this. My ins co sent me plan paid 920.49 for 90 days and out of pocket was 60. For the amount you get, you are investing more in this, than 1 troy oz of Gold! the company really needs to come down on the price. I have the nail fungus problem from my service time. This product so far has not help relief it any as indicated by others in the other post. All in all it is a good product for my situation. Read More Read Less

HAd DVT in leg previously, discovered again following long haul flight. Put on 30mg since last week. Have experienced side effects in form of skin rash, joint pains, increased arthritic pain, pins and needles/tingling sensation, minor bleeding gums. Would have preferred warfrin, no side effects.Lets see what happens further down the line, have to take meds for 3 months max.

I switched from warfaren to Xeralta in mar 2013. I began having pain in my thighs July, I did not have any idea what the cause was. The pain moved around and got worse until Nov 2014 where I switched back to Warfaren, things continued to get worse until Dec 30, the doctor called an ambulance and off to the hospital screaming in pain in legs, hip and back. I just got out yesterday (jan 11,2015). It seems my hips and legs had filled with blood, very painfull. After changing my blood and whole bunch of other stuff they have me back on warfaren at 3mm per day . It will take 4 to 6 weeks for the blood to work out. They want keep it around 2.2 pro time. I am very angry and plan to sue the hell out of them. This stuff should be banned from the market. Things got so bad that Read More Read Less

It seems to be working well for me, however I have had gastric upset since starting it and it won't subside symptoms. Could it be the Xarelto that is causing this? Anyone else having this problem?

Taking it after DVT and PE. Coumadin was not keeping INR levels consistent, so Dr. recommended switching to Xarelto. So far so good. A bit tired at the end of the day.

I was on 20 mg/day for atrial flutter for 90 days. Only side effect was chest congestion that was eliminated by doubling my diuretic. Kind of pricey but seemed to work well for me.

I could not get into a steady INR with warfarin; the day before my ablation it was less than 2, so I had to significantly up the dosage the day of the ablation. When I woke up from the ablation, my INR was over 6 and I was in intensive care. I actually heard one of the nurses who was taking over the shift say, "what, she's over 6..OMG". I could have bled to death at any moment. Had to spend two nights in ICU due to this...once they got it down to 2, i was switched to Xarelto and have been so happy ever since. I'm nervous when I switch to Medicare 'cuz it's not covered nearly to the degree Warfarin is, but I could never go back. Read More Read Less

My active and vibrant 80 year old mother was prescribed this med. She is tired, no energy, shaky, woozy, and depressed. She has a red blotch on her face that can't be explained. Doc reduced dosage but she is still miserable, and doesn't have the energy to exercise her knee replacement - which is starting to sieze up with lack of exercise. She can't take her herbal vitamins, has no appetite, and no zest left. She announced today she is taking her life back and getting off this drug... the side effects are just too much for her to take.
