I have been on Xarelto for one month. For the first 2 weeks I had no side effects but the longer I stay on it the more I have noticed that I am exhibiting symptoms I have never had. I am having muscle spasms around my eyes and eyelids. I have seen an opthalmologist and all is fine but they continue and are very annoying. I see that a side effect of this drug is muscle spasms. Also, I am itching a...
My family member suffered a fatal cerebral hemorrhage related to xarelto use. This drug should be banned!

I was prescribed 20mg a day and have taken it for a full 4 years with no side effects. Have had 2 occasions where I was cut badly and the bleeding took a while to stop, but nothing too excessive. I have had 4 cardioversions and with a past history of chronic heart failure am not suitable for any other medical intervention. I am as active today as I was in my 20's, I work a ful 6 day week, am a part-time racing driver and I walk/run/cycle a minimum of an hour every day. Only serious change to my life is I have taken the limited salt option and now have almost no salt in my diet, but still 3 or 4 regular cups of coffee each day. Compared to a few friends on Warfarin for a variety of reasons, I am super happy with Xarelto , having no side effects and a simple one tablet a day dose. Read More Read Less

I was given this for P.E. two of them. After a battery of tests they have no idea where I got the clots, and therefor must be on this Xarelto the rest of my life. I have zero energy and switched to taking my pill before bed hoping that would help the low energy. Nope. I still have no energy and I ache all over.

Have been on this drug for 4 months now and don't seem to have any side effects. Taking it because of a pulmonary embolism. See my Dr. in one month for an evaluation and blood work. Have to stay on it for 1 year and then be re-evaluated again to see if there is the need to stay on it. Easy to take with my breakfast each day.

I was admitted to a local hospital with shortness of breath. I was diagnosed with a PE. I was in ICU on a Heparin Drip and prescribed Warfarin. After a week, I was released from the hospital with instructions to follow up with a clinic to get an INR to determine my Warfarin dosage. I felt like a million bucks. I had no insurance, so after about a month of INRs they placed me on Xaralto 20 mg. and sent me on my way! After about a month and a half, I started noticing a slight shortness of breath again and an associated cough was back. I just think that a medication that was costing me $450/mo. should give me a much better result. Read More Read Less

Unknowing and naive, the ER physician prescribed me Xarelto, which is ranked most dangerous prescription drug in the USA. I went to ER for heavily swollen left leg and had ultrasound determining that I had a blood clot, Deep Vein Thrombosis. I've been sick and bed ridden from this drug for a week waiting for the proven, safe and no side effects, Nattokinase, 3650 FU w/ Pine Bark Extract 300 mg from Nutritional Biochemistry Inc. (NBI) I ordered as a substitute for Xarelto. I'm on day 2 taking and feel much better and have peace of mind knowing I will not accidentally bleed to death on a dangerous Xarelto that has no antidote to stop bleeding, aside from making me feel that I'm on my death bed for a simple blood clot that Nattokinase will dissolve, plus lower my blood pressure and cholesterol and keep all my arteries clog free and clean. So glad I researched and found this, literally, a lifesaver.Read More Read Less

Went to the ER 11/26 pm with abnormal left chest pain after returning home after a long flight the night before. (I'd flown nine times in the past two months.). Diagnosis was multiple bilateral PE's. All other testing was performed to discover how these formed and showed no cancer, no DVT, no genetic factors. Basically, they couldn't find a reason I'd developed these clots. I've always had excellent health, ate smart, and I consistently exercised over the past 40 years, so this was shocking to me. Recv'd Lovenox shots during my 2-day hospital stay, then my hematologist prescribed 15 mg Xarelto 2x/day for 21 days followed by 20mg 1x/day after that. I'm only on my 10th day and I can't bear the stomach pain any more. This stomach pain began on day seven and it is excruciating. I'm also having significant right back pain (kidney area), cold hands, sleeplessness, headaches, and fatigue. I cannot function this way. I'll be going on Coumadin ASAP. I already know the nuisance Coumadin creates (my mother's been on it for years), but I'll do anything to stop these side effects I currently have. Plus, I like knowing there is a reversal for Coumadin, unlike the newer anti-coagulants. Read More Read Less

I have factor V Leiden and was on coumadin for about 10 years until my doctor game me an antibiotic which reacted with it and my inr went off the chart high and I had serious internal bleeding. I get significant blood in my urine a couple days a month. Then I usually skip a pill. Feet also tingle and cramp more than before. No clots though!

Do not take xarelto if you do not want to go bald. My hair has come out in gobs, was not on the indication sheet as a side effect. After this happened I went back to look at the other posts and their were lots of people with the same problem. I don't care what happens to me but I am stopping the medicine today and make sure I tell my family also. Getting a lawyer.

male age 58. been on Coumadin for 2+ years off and on. got another DVT in leg after stopping coumadin within two weeks of stopping for a surgery. after new DVT, started Xarelto ~ 2 years ago. stopped Xarelto for sinus surgery procedure and experienced another DVT in leg after 5-6 days of stoppage of the drug. Wondering if I can ever come off, or at least do so slowly? Xarelto seems to be working but joints always seem stiff, though feel better than when on Coumadin.

Have been on Xarelto for about 2 months now due to multiple PE in my lungs, no clue as to why or how. I love how easy it is for me to take because I HATE having to take pills daily. I usually take it in the evening before bed and have very little problems. Only issues I have are being a little more tired than usual and I have headaches often. Not sure if this is related to the drug, but I was on Coumadin for 2 weeks prior to asking for Xarelto because there are no dietary restrictions, you only have to take it once a day and I don't have to go in to pay for blood testing every few weeks. Getting on Xarelto's "CarePath" program (google it) also helped my in paying a $0 co-pay to my insurance every month when I pickup my prescription because this drug is a Tier 4 drug which means a hefty co-pay normally. Having to take a blood thinner really sucks, but compared to the Coumadin I was on briefly, this is going pretty good so far. Yes my gums bleed when I brush my teeth and I've had bloody toes when clipping ingrown nails, but I have really had no issues getting the bleeding to stop. Hopefully I'll only have to be on this med for a few more months and all will be well.Read More Read Less
