I have been on Xarelto for one month. For the first 2 weeks I had no side effects but the longer I stay on it the more I have noticed that I am exhibiting symptoms I have never had. I am having muscle spasms around my eyes and eyelids. I have seen an opthalmologist and all is fine but they continue and are very annoying. I see that a side effect of this drug is muscle spasms. Also, I am itching a...
My family member suffered a fatal cerebral hemorrhage related to xarelto use. This drug should be banned!

When I take this drug, how do you know when your blood is too thin? So far the drug has helped. I was on Coumadin.

Since going on this drug, I've experienced prolonged morning chills, easily getting chilled and mild depression. Since I'm fairly new to my first cochlear implant, the depression could be from working to understand speech.

I have started having constant headaches again even though they pretty much stopped once put on gabapentin 100 x 3 and increased toprol to 25 mg. I take generic Fiorcet for it but that is limited. I am not sure if that is related. Also have had eruption of leg ulcers again since starting on it but do not know if that is related or not.

Have been on drug for 8 mos. Had many of the same symptoms listed here including muscle spasms both eyes and upper lip. Exhaustion and exertion beyond belief. Didn't realize symptoms were from Xarelto. No bleeding until today when I had a blood clot come from nose; anyone else? Thank you.

I had been taking Wayfarin as a blood thinner. Had to go to Dr. to get my finger pricked every 2 weeks and get blood drawn. Could not eat any dark green leafy foods e.g. turnip greens, collards broccoli, kate, romaine lettuce etc. After starting Xarelto 2.0o mg, I no longer have to get my finger pricked and I can eat anything I like. Being from the South I can now eat the foods I love. I have not noticed any change whatsoever after beginning the Xerelto.

The reason I am taking this medicine is because I formed DVT in both legs post op. I have been on this medicine for just about a month now. I recently switched from the initial phase of 15mg twice a day to 20mg once a day. So far the results have been good with minimal side effects (itching for a little while). I don't have the nosebleeds or bruising like a did when on coumadin which is great. I have been diagnosed to remain on blood thinners for life and I am only 25 so we will see how is goes. Hopefully this medicine can become a more stable alternative to coumadin. Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this drug so that I could stop taking the enoxaparin injection 2x daily in my stomach due to DVT and pulmonary embolism. This drug was terrible for my body, my fingers, toes, tongue and face became numb, my body started shaking like I had the flu, I could not get warm. I was in bed with my winter coat and gloves on. My legs started having major muscle spasms so I got up to walk around, my legs were so heavy and tight that I could hardly walk. I am back on the enoxaparin shots wich I hate needles, although I would gladly take these shots over this tiny 20mg pill. Awful experience with this drug never again.Read More Read Less

So far no problems, other than always remembering to take it at dinner time. I am afraid of having a car accident or bleeding and not having an antidote available at the hospital. I do not like being on a blood thinner but know I have to because of afib.
