I have been on Xarelto for one month. For the first 2 weeks I had no side effects but the longer I stay on it the more I have noticed that I am exhibiting symptoms I have never had. I am having muscle spasms around my eyes and eyelids. I have seen an opthalmologist and all is fine but they continue and are very annoying. I see that a side effect of this drug is muscle spasms. Also, I am itching a...
My family member suffered a fatal cerebral hemorrhage related to xarelto use. This drug should be banned!

Way better than Coumadin! No blood test and no diet restrictions. The only draw back I have found is I must take it with dinner and after that I am heading to bed all tired and with a slight headache. Other than that it is perfect.

I was put on this drug for a year when it came out. Stopped it because my AFib went away for a year. AFib came back in August so my doctor put me back on it. This time I am lightheaded, have numbness in my feet and tingling, also my hands. Muscle spasms, weak legs and backache. Am on no other new meds and amm being tested but so far tt appears to be Xarelto. If you read the doctor prescribing info muscle pain an weakness is a side effect. I am going to Eliquis.

Just released from hospital 3 days ago after dx of bilateral pulmonary emboli. After heavy Heparin was told choices of blood thinner for 6 months. Coumadin seemed unrealistic with all follow up required, Xarelto another choice of three. Have been on Xarelto 3 days and have no energy, heartburn and my already painful back is much worse. Tingling in foot and back of head. Can't comment on effectiveness as there is no test, ease of use I keep forgetting to take it at exactly the same time morning and night, did not know about taking with food until reading comments here. I have primary biliary cirrhosis (an autoimmune disease of the liver) after reading side effects very concerned about how it may affect my liver enzymes. Any comments are appreciated as related to my concerns.Read More Read Less

I was on Coumadin for 6 years and I hated that I could not eat nutritious foods and the blood monitoring was awful. I was so miserable, the doctor took me off drug and one month later I got another DVT. Went on Xarelto and I'm doing well 5 months later. Big problem is the drug costs and Janssen doesn't help anyone on Medicare at all unless you are below poverty level. They did offer a 10 day free trial. The cost is becoming prohibitive but I'll make the trade off with something else since it helps and I can eat all the greens I want.Read More Read Less

I have been on X since August 2012. It really hit me in terms of muscle aches. I have also just found out that my testosterone levels are significantly below what they should be for men in their 40s. I am trying to determine if there is a relation between X and my drop in Testosterone and would like to hear if any other men have had similar conditions. Other than this -- and it's a BIG DEAL, in terms an active 47-year-old fighting fatigue, muscle aches, weight gain and loss of muscle mass, trust me -- I don't know of a drug that's easier to take and helps me avoid another spontaneous pulmonary embolism. The "bad blood" is genetically rooted, and there's not much i can do about that. I would be interested to know if any 40-something guys taking Xarelto have had similar conditions.Read More Read Less

There is no test to see if you are in the theraputic range. There is no antidote. It is too expensive.
