I have been on Xarelto for one month. For the first 2 weeks I had no side effects but the longer I stay on it the more I have noticed that I am exhibiting symptoms I have never had. I am having muscle spasms around my eyes and eyelids. I have seen an opthalmologist and all is fine but they continue and are very annoying. I see that a side effect of this drug is muscle spasms. Also, I am itching a...

My family member suffered a fatal cerebral hemorrhage related to xarelto use. This drug should be banned!

I am 54 male and began taking this in October 2013. My Doctor said this is the best drug for my numerous blood clots. I now take 2 hour naps in the middle of the day and have joint pain in my legs at night while resting. When I try to do outdoor activities I get tired very easy and noticed that my leg will swell up with any extended time standing.Hopefully I will be off it come April when my 6 months of treatment is over.

High end blood thinners like, Xarelto, Pradaxa and Eliquis have not worked for me at all. Pradaxa made me start bleeding profusly after the first week. Xarelto made me start bleeding profusly after the first day. As with Eliquis my part d does not pay for it and about 40% on the Pradaxa & Xarelto, Generic Coumadin has worked fine for a couple of years now. Home health nurse checks my PRNR's every 3 weeks now with just a finger prick. Doctor changes the dosage every now and then and I pay nothing for the generic Coumadin (Warfarin) drug or testing. It's covered. Sure beats paying $100 to $300 a month for the high end drugs. In the Eliquis ad the guy wants to up his game??? It's not a game folksRead More Read Less

Been taking xarelto 4 months. Have had nose bleed, bleeding from ear, swollen blistered lip ,blisters on feet. Worse though are my nails which have large blood clots under them and the nails are coming away from nail bed .making fingers very painful, as are my big toe nails. Having blood tests next week with a view to coming off. Side effects of dabigatran were worse. Looks like I'm heading down the route of warfarin which I have been VERY reluctant t take, trouble is cardiologist puts the fear of god in you to get you on these dfugs Read More Read Less

While on vacation, I fell and broke my ankle (fibula) and three bones in my foot. Was treated and had to drive 10 hours home. Went to see a orthopedic surgeon and told her my calf of my leg hurt like, he**, did a sonogram and saw the blood clot. I have been on this medication for 5 months now with no problems at all. I feel it saved me.

Ive been on this anticoagulant and so far no side effects, no blood in stools or urine, just sometimes I feel alittle tired. No muscle pain, stomach pain, maybe just vision issue sometimes to hard to tell, but so far so good. Also was at my cardiologist and he said, Xeralto is a good drug proven in Europe to dissolve DVT's, and as far as bleeds, you can stop it. So for now I only hope for 5 more months of great results. I just wish I knew if it were working because with blood testing who could tell?7Read More Read Less

Had a stroke at 48, was put on Coumadin initially for about a year. Went to a hematologist to be tested for coagulation disorders (none found) and he thought I was a viable candidate for Xarelto since I was so young (relatively speaking) and would probably be on blood thinners for the rest of my life . He couldn't recommend it as he said there haven't been enough studies related to stroke outside of afib but I didn't like the hassle of blood monitoring and especially diet restrictions. I've been on it for 3 months without symptoms...bruising easy but I think less than Coumadin and more importantly I would wake every morning on Coumadin tasting blood in my mouth and that's gone with Xarelto.Read More Read Less

Had DVT and used this drug for treatment. Have Protein S def and as this is my 2nd unprovoked DVT long term prevention required. Initial fatigue and low iron due to excessive menstral bleeding but now on iron supplements and tranexamic acid. Have been on this drug for 8 months and overall things going well, no other side effects apparent.

I don't know if this medication has helped or not. My doctor has never tested for anything, but I think the small clot I had in my lung dissolved with the use of Lovenox and the generic of Coumedin (sp?). I probably forgot half the pills because taking them at dinner time is problematic in my situation. However, I have had a nasty case of hives ever since I started Xarelto and, even though I quit taking it 2-3 weeks ago, I still have hives. Not a serious problem, obviously, but VERY annoying. Hope the hives go away one of these day.Read More Read Less

Had a hip bone graph (Greater Trochanter) due to post-op hip re-replacement complication. Was an alternative to Warfarin (Coumadin). This drug made my WHOLE body itchy. Losing my mind itchy. 13 - 14 days into taking drug, began to feel itch sensations. Asked my doctor to take me off drug. 4rth day off drug and still itching. Calling PCP today. If i had a choice do over, I'd stick with the Warfarin.
