I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and I take birth control for a few reasons (#1 to lower my testosterone levels, #2 to have a monthly period since PCOS causes a lack of periods). Over the past 3 years I've been on 6 different birth control pills, and Generess Fe is the best pill I've been on hands down. Every female will react different to the hormones in every pill, so my review will ob...

Asked for an IUD, instead was given Generess Fe. Terrible mood swings, weight gain, nausea, and headaches. Felt like a monster 24/7 after very first dose, Stopped taking after the third day. Remind me again why is this allowed for human consumption?

I have recently decided to get back on birth control after 4 years. I have gone through 2 packs already and the side effects are just as intense now as they were the first week or two. I have uncomfortable stomach pains and gained a few pounds pretty quickly (I feel like snacking/munching all day). I have had a few unexpected spotting occurances. And I definetly notice a signifigant drop in my sex drive. Im 24, that probably should not be happening to a 24 year old female. I was told to wait it out for a few months since its been so long since I have taken birth control. If the side effects to ease up soon, I will be looking for something else. Its too bad, because I was really please with their charitable donation program too. Read More Read Less

I have been on this pill for about 4-5 months. After switching from a higher dose birth control (I needed that pill to control breakthrough bleeding) I am very pleased. My reasons for trying Generess were because my old pill was causing a lot of bloating and fluid retention, as well as breast tenderness. I have had none of these symptoms with Generess, and feel a lot better on this dose, I just hope it keeps working. The only negative aspect is that I haven't had a real period while taking this pill. I am definitely not pregnant, but I would like to see my period every month for a piece of mindRead More Read Less

I started taking this almost a month ago and have not stopped bleeding. I've taken birth control in the past and didn't have spotting. I know were warned about spot bleeding but it's been very uncomfortable as it's been a pretty consistant flow. I started taking the first pill the first day of my period. The first week or two I was so bloated, mood swings and anxiety was horrible. It most deff affected my depression/anxiety, but that stopped the past week. Breast size hasn't changed, just made them painfully tender and i'm small chested; though the nipple hair growth has slowed! The minty flavor is pretty cool but throws you off how you can chew it? I don't rarley get pimples but this has caused big red breakouts all over :[ overall not too happy... not sure if i should stick it out because it has gotten better over the weeks just not sure if this is all worth it! Also, this is a new pill from what i understand and it was hard to find reviews from other girls online, so i hope my input helps but dosn't discourage anyone because side effects seemed to slowly stop, minus the acne got worse and my apetite has increased but no weight gain.Read More Read Less

I've been on this birth control for about 3 weeks.. And I haven't stopped bleeding (spotting, really) since. This is my first method of birth control so I'm unsure if it's normal. I also have had mild cramping and very uncharacteristic loss of appetite. I went from being 126 to 118 in the first two weeks. Not incredibly displeased with that, but I would prefer to Gain weight rather than lose it. I've experienced mild breakouts that go away quickly and Actually seem to be thinking more straight forward.. I almost seems to help my ADD. Has anyone else noticed that? Overall, I dont hate the product, but it definitely has a lot more side effects than I presumed.Read More Read Less

I haven't been on BC for a few years, and I had to start something b/c my periods were getting to be 1 1/2 to 2 weeks long! This BC has helped with that. My last period was VERY light (I usually get heavy and clotty especially after having 2 kids.) and very short (4-5 days). BUT, BIG drawback: I am getting horrible stomach aches and lots of nausea. I sometimes do get stomach aches, anyway, when I'm under a lot of stress, but I'm sure the pill is causing these. They are worse and almost constantly, every day. Not only that, I just feel so sick to my stomach almost like I'm pregnant (I'm not). I just have to burp a lot to feel better. I also have a lot of bloatedness and feel tightness in my chest. I don't remember any of these symptoms from when I took BC about 8 years ago. I am unsure, but I'm now in the beginning of the 2nd month/pack and I might be feeling a little better. I will probably continue a little longer, but I can't deal with this too much longer! Oh, I'm also VERY fatigued, but perhaps the feeling of sickness is just making me want to sleep to get rid of the discomfort for a bit!Read More Read Less

I have been on it now for 3 weeks. I too have had the spotting. No head aches or cramping. Just seems like such a small pill to do such a Big job. The chewable part is throwing me for a loop. Kind of like a Flintstones Vitamin. Like the minty taste. Hve notices acne on my back and shoulders. Not happy about that!

I am on my first pack of this pill and this is my first experience with bc overall. Since taking it, I have not stopped bleeding. For 10 days it was a normal heavy flow and now it's just spotting. Not sure if this is "normal" but I don't want to keep going back to the doctor, just to have her keep switching pills for me (and charging me my copay)!! Other than that it has seemed fine to me.

This is my first experience with birth control of any kind. It would appear to be effective (as I am not yet pregnant) but I am not entirely sure it is worth the side effects I am experiencing. I had a clockwork period (of 4 days) prior to taking the pill, but after my first pill pack I experienced a sparatic period lasting almost 2 weeks. I have experience almost constant (but mild) cramping since I began taking it. I have had pretty severe mood swings as well as almost no sex drive. I have also experienced pretty horrible fatigue--I have dark circles under my eyes which have never been there and I have trouble staying awake throughout the day no matter how much sleep I get. I really hope that these side effects are temporary, because if they persist I will definitely be looking for a new method of birth control. Read More Read Less

I have finished my first pack, and I am not please with it. It is my first birth control pill so I cannot compare it to others. But I will say that after finishing this sample, I will definitely seek some other better brands of birth control pills. For such a tiny pill these are, they gave me the hugest headaches. I get them every time I take the pill and within hours my head would be pounding. I now feel as if I have to always take an advil after I take my pills because the headaches are unbearable. And I see that I am not the only ones experiencing these horrible headaches.Read More Read Less

I am on my second pack & love it so far. It's easy to take, minty & chewy which is a plus. Cut my periods from 7 days to 4 with just the 1st pack. Took away my really painful cramps, back aches & menstrual migraines. The only thing Im not fond of is a little bit of ache & some weight gain but overall I am very pleased & will continue to take it.

Well, I'm not exactly sure if its working or not. This is my first form of north control I have ever taken so I'm not really sure what to look for. I have been really moody lately and my periods lasted the same as it always is. It's just such a small pill and when I chew it I don't feel like I'm getting enough or taking it right. At least its minty!

I, like many other people on here, have been getting EXTREMELY bad headaches DAILY from this birth control and have stopped taking it. You should not be getting side effects like this from a daily birth control pill.

I have been taking the pill for a month. I haven't experienced any headaches or acne. My acne has actually improved. The only side affect that I really notice is I am EXTREMELY emotional! Someone was rude to me at a store and I had to hold back tears and walk away! I am not a cry baby and this was really out of character for me.

I have been taking this pill for about 3 weeks now and I am somewhat pleased. The pros are the lighter periods. However, it has given me acne and extremely bad headaches. I have NEVER had acne and now my face has big red bumps and scars all over it =( Not happy about that. Another thing are the horrible HORRIBLE headaches. From reading the other reviews I am not the only one experiencing this. I have had cramping but not bad so they are ok to deal with. This will be my 4th type of birthcontrol and at this time, I have mixed emotions about this one. On the plus side, I have not had any discharge or breakthrough bleeding since I've started taking the pill. Read More Read Less

Absolutely the worst BC I've ever tried. Within 2 days I developed diahrrea and stomach cramping and nausea. Then I developed severe vertigo. Then I started getting headaches every day for the entire month I took it. I also became extremely lethargic and irritable. After only one month I stopped taking this BC and within 4 days felt like myself again.

I'm on my second pack of Generess Fe and I'm not sure how I feel about it. This is my first birth control pill so I can't really compare it to others but from what I've experienced, I get extremely bad headaches at times, about an hour after I take the pill, and sometimes bad cramps for a few minutes. This is coming from a girl who never ever gets cramps during her period (I got lucky with that!) but now have them sometimes after taking the pill. I have not noticed any weight gain at all and I know birth control usually helps acne but I feel as if I have more pimples that I usually do (I don't really break out). Lastly- my friends and family tell me I'm too moody on the pill and I have a short fuse now which is very unlike me. I refuse to notice it, but other people have observed that. I do like that Generess Fe is a chewable pill, so its easy to take in the middle of the day without water, and it tastes minty! It definitely works as my primary use of contraception, but I'm not sure if Generess Fe is right for me. Read More Read Less
