I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and I take birth control for a few reasons (#1 to lower my testosterone levels, #2 to have a monthly period since PCOS causes a lack of periods). Over the past 3 years I've been on 6 different birth control pills, and Generess Fe is the best pill I've been on hands down. Every female will react different to the hormones in every pill, so my review will ob...

Asked for an IUD, instead was given Generess Fe. Terrible mood swings, weight gain, nausea, and headaches. Felt like a monster 24/7 after very first dose, Stopped taking after the third day. Remind me again why is this allowed for human consumption?

This is my first birth control I have ever taken. I used to have horribly heavy periods with extreme cramps that would never come on time. I have been taking the pill for a month and a half and just got my first period on it. My period is way lighter and the cramps are way more managable than before. Also, my period came closer to the normal cycle than it has before. I gained a couple pounds but my breasts have also gotten bigger which I think is good. I get a slight headache after taking the pill each day but it is not enough to bother me. My face is normally extremely clear and I haven't noticed a big change in my acne except that I used to have bad back and shoulder acne and that has cleared up since taking this. Read More Read Less

My doctor gave me these to stop a heavy period that just wouldn't seem to end. The pills stopped my period within 3 days, but the side effects have been overwhelming. Horrible stomach cramps, aggressive mood swings, and all food tastes horrible... which doesn't really matter since I can't keep anything down anyway thanks to this drug. I'll be calling my doctor today to see if I can change brands.

When i first started this birth control, everything was fine. My doctor told me that it should get rid of acne, and, being a person who doesn't normally have acne, i've been getting pimples on my face, chest, and back. In my second pack, i've experienced extreme jealousy, anxiousness, and i cry at EVERYTHING, i cry at Say Yes to the Dress. Started off good but then it got bad.

I took Generes for two months. The first month was great - no issue with the drug itself (more later on the $25 discount card issues). The second month is when I started to have really bad gastro issues. Also, the cramps I got had me literally doubled over...and lasted two days. I bled heavier than I had in years too. I also think my emotional reaction to negative or upsetting things was a bit out of control. It was like a switch turned my anger or distress on instantly. I took Ovcon before for over 20 years and never had any of that. I switched to Generes because I was told there was no more Ovcon being made. Just found it is and bought the Ovcon. I will not use Generes again if I need not. As to the $25 Rx card they give you - "pay no more than $25 or less" per prescription. NOT true. I paid more than $25. When I called the company to ask why, they said the card has a $50 per Rx limit. So if your pharmacy charges more than $75 for Generes, it's possible you'll pay more then $25 even with the card. They don't tell you that on the card or anywhere in the materials that come with the card!Read More Read Less

This was the second attempt to control my endometriosis with birth control, and the pain is somewhat covered, but the ugly side effects have proved to be too much to bare.

I have been taking this for two weeks and i have recently began having really bad arm pains and weakness, along with headaches. It could be related to smoking while im using this BC but i will no longer take it im scared i could have a blood clot.

I have just started my 3rd pack of this and I have just started to get really bad headaches and stomach pains. It has been going on for aboout a week now and it is starting to drive me nuts. The pains are keeping me up at night and i never want to eat and feel very nauseated. If it continues to be like this I am switching to a differnet pill.

I had an incredibly heavy period for my first month on this pill, similar to a miscarriage. I had really large clots and had to spend a few hours on the toilet letting blood just drain out. I had to see the doctor to get hormones to stop the very heavy bleeding, and will definitely stop taking this BC if my next period will be the same. I always had light, regular periods with no cramping before this pill. I also noticed a lot of hair loss and bloating and weight gain since taking this pill, as well as a decrease in libido and major mood swings. I was told this would be an easier pill to take because of the low hormone dose but it's been pretty terrible so far. I used another pill before and that wasn't this bad at all, so I think it's this pill and not me.Read More Read Less

I love this pill! Was on Loestrin for years and had a great deal of breast tenderness. Not on this pill. Been on this for 4 mths and just had a period that lasted only a couple of days. The only side affect I experienced the first month was a very slight headache the first couple of weeks . Not even severe enough to take a Tylenol. I would recommend it to anyone!

I have very painful, heavy periods. My doctor handed me a free sample pack of this BC to try. The package was pretty, and it tasted good. Minty and chewy. But soon enough, some problems started. 1.Hot flashes. I feel menopausal.I wake up drenched in sweat, and suddenly get hot then cold during the day. 2.Headaches, thirst, and a terrible craving for junk, especially PIZZA. I normally eat healthy and lately I've been eating chocolate and other stuff I would otherwise never eat.Random cravings.I already feel bloated, and I may have gained weight.Leads to my next point... 3.Permanent PMS. Seriously.I start crying over tiny things, and get annoyed over things I would normally overlook. In short, my moods are out of control.Especially when I'm driving. This, plus the junk cravings. NOT GOOD. 4.My period was 2 weeks late(which didn't surprise me), but when it finally came, it was VERY, VERY heavy, which is the opposite of why I started taking BC in the first place. It's to the point where I can't sleep comfortably.Gross.Add in the nausea, and I am not happy. Refer to issue number three again. 4.The stomach cramps are ridiculous. My cramps are usually debilitating, but only last a couple of days. My period so far is going on a week, and I have had cramps every single day. When I eat, I have to..um..use the bathroom. Being that I work in a large office building for a major company, this is kind of a problem. 5.And don't forget how sleepy I am. So...sleepy. In fact, right now I want to sleep. All day, I want to sleep. I am at my full time job, and I want to sleep. I sleep all day on my days off, and still want to sleep. In short, this pill is not good for me. I am a sleepy, hormonal, chocolate eating wack job, and I think my boyfriend is questioning my sanity after I started crying at our table in a restaurant. I don't like myself like this.I am giving the it one more pack to get its act together, and going back to my trusted mononessa. But hey, atleast I'm not pregnant. Read More Read Less

This BC is the worst I have ever taken. I have been taking for 2 months & have had uncomfortable stomach cramps every day. I forgot to take my pill 1 day out of the 2 months & it made me start my period for several days. Definite decrease in my sex drive to the point my boyfriend is frustrated. My boobs are very sensitive as well & have probably grown a cup size (which I do no need!). Not significant sign of weight gain but feel bloated. My first period on the pill was so horrible it kept me up all night & I passed blood clots. Read More Read Less

This was the first birth control I have been on. The first few weeks the medicine made me a bit sick, but it was tolerable. It's doing it's job. But the longer I use it, the further my sex drive drops. I'm under 25 and I've never had a problem with it before. My menstrual cycle is really easy and on schedule, but I'm very displeased with the sexual side effects.

I was perscribed this medication to help stop break through bleedings. It did not help with the break through bleeding and it also gave me horrible side effects such as nausea, decrease sex drive, never full, and weight gain.

This is my first pack of Generess Fe. I love the minty pills. I have been getting some headaches and little acne on my back and face but I think my body needs to just get used to it. I have had some bloating and I am not sure about that. If it is normal or not?

This is the first birth control pill I have taken since having my children. The first two week I was on it, I did break out a bit and was incredibly hungry. But I'm guessing this was just my body getting used to the hormones. Everything has evened out now and I love this pill! I love that it is chewable and it tastes great! I have had one other side effect, but it's one I'm not complaining about! I boobs grew a cup size!
