My doctor puprescibed Nexium for my a couple of years ago, great, no side effects. This year my insurance company decided I needed to change to dexilant to be less expensive. After 4 months, I developed chronic diarrhea...daily since May 30! Six weeks, five doctors, weight loss to 98 pounds, trip to the hospital, and a doctor finally told me to stop the dexilant! Day 6 being off this horrid dr...

I have been taking this for about a month and half and have had a lot of the symptoms people are talking about, but the one I had and did not associate with the drug was not being able to think of a word or mixing up words! I have been off it about 4 days and still have symptoms and hopefully they go away! I have had the pain under my ribs and at night my lower abdomen feels like itâ??s burning! I...

I have been on Dexilant for 6 months. It works well but you can tell if you missed a dose, as it quits working fast within that time frame the next day. My problem is I have noticed a significant weight gain the last month, especially in the abdomen area. I have two hernias in the area and weight gain is the last thing I need. Then this week, I noticed a weight jump again. I came her to check side effects and feel sad that sudden weight gain is one of them. It's a good medicine but keep check on the weight gain. I was prescribed Dexilant by my doctor. It has helped me for the past 2 1/2 years, this past January of 2016 I started to take less and less maybe once at week then whenever I needed to take. I am 62 years old my practitioner suggested I get a boned density test, results; that I am now Osteoporosis, lost a some height. I was told to that Dexilant probably advance the bone loss. I do not believe in taking any type of medicine of a long time unless is absolutely necessary. I will now not Dexilant anymore. Read More Read Less

Wow, after reading these reviews, I feel pretty lucky. Granted, I have only been on it for 2 weeks today, but from the first day I took it, my acid reflux and heartburn disappeared. It feels like a miracle drug to me because I went from taking 6-8 Ranitidine pills a day and still experiencing heartburn and acid, to now taking one Dexilant in the morning, and it getting me through the entire day. I can even eat the spicy foods I've missed so much. I sure hope my success with this drug continues.Read More Read Less

My doctor gave me samples of Dexilant to try for about 10 days until I went for my upper GI scope. I am about 8 days in and having side effects. I hadn't known about the side effects until I looked it up and I'm really shocked I have so many of them. Diarrhea, cold/flu like symptoms, neck pain, cough. I'm pretty bummed because this medication is definitely working and helping my acid reflux but now I'll have to speak with my doctor to see if there is something else to try. I go for my scope tomorrow morning and I feel like complete garbage. I thought I was just getting sick. I'm very disappointed. Read More Read Less

I have taken this medicine for over 5 yrs and have had no side effects and it has worked great. My Dr tReid me on nexium and prilosec and neither of them worked well. This is the only one that controls my acid reflux. Now my insurance will not cover it anymore. Not sure what I am gonna do. I love this medication. They are gonna try something new I just hope it works as well as dexilant. I just wish the manufacturer would lower the price so it would be a covered drug.

10 years ago, I was prescribed this medication in a last stitch effort to control my GERD, which was so bad I was hardly eating for days at a time. It's made a huge difference, and very successfully controls all my pain and discomfort. I still have heartburn if I eat too much too fast, or consume too many carbonated beverages. If I have to go off the meds for any extended period of time (like when I recently had a gap in health insurance and couldn't afford that month's pills), the pain will return full force, and it will take a few days of being back on the drug regimen for me to fully recover. But all in all, it's been great for me, with no long-term side effects that I know of (though I am suspecting a possible B-12 deficiency). Read More Read Less

Rabeprazole 20mg twice a day worked better. This is the improved right handed isomer of Prevacid right? Well I'm glad I never had to use Prevacid (lansoprazole) while this is Dextrolansprazole. They had it right with the isomers when they improved Prilosec (Omeprazole) to Nexium (oesomeprazole). The pack of brand name Nexium said not to take it more than 59 months in a row, so that's why I asked to for a change, the doctor didn't even know about Rabeprazole, which was giving me 4-4.5/5. This is 3 out of 5 at best, even at 2x30mg capsules a day. I'll ask for Rabeprazole again, I don't even know the brand name for it but it's the best, yet doctors here if you don't ask will throw at you Pantolocs (pantoprazoles) which I find to be a bit better than this but not by much.Read More Read Less

This med.has been very successful in reducing reflux symptoms. However, number one, it's very expensive (even with insurance and discount coupon). I've been using samples. Two, I completely lost my sense of taste using this. When I switched back to Nexium, my sense of taste is slowly returning. My ENT said usually loss of taste is related to sinus, but I do not have sinus issues. Has anyone else had this problem?

I was not advised that taking this medication for a long period of time would leave me with persistant spasms in my left shoulder and 3 visits to the ER before they figured out that I had a magnisum deficiency. I also had an ankle fracture while on this medication which also a side effect on long term use. Yes it works great but after 4 years I am paying the price.

Over 30 years of heartburn ending with trouble swallowing food to a point of choking and gasping for air! This was getting worse the last couple of years where I was embarrassed to eat in public as I would go into choking and not breathing for two to three minutes...After two days on these pills, they stopped me from chocking, and after 20 dyas, no heartburn at all!! I have 10 days left to go as it was a 30 day 60mg treatment. I do have a swollen belly and have to go to the washroom (no.2) about three times a day...but small price to pay for the cure!!! Dr. says that all will be back to normal in two weeks! I feel fantastic!!!!! At 55 I now feel like 35 :)Read More Read Less

I went to the doctor with heart attack like chest pains. he diagnosed me with acid reflux disease and gave me Dexilant. I have been taking it for only three days, but the chest pains have already stopped, I can finally swallow without pain and my heartburn has not returned.
