Really liked it, but now I have developed hive-type welts, itching, esp extremities and now back, back of neck. I had a similar reaction from IV iron (imferon) in the 80s, rheumatoid-type symptoms. Could this be similar. Am using the newer Bifera; have used Slow Fe in the past...it is used for chronic renal failure anemia in my case.

I was given this pill as a solution to my anemia. Instead of giving me more energy as expected, I had immediate nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, became very weak and emotional, as well as having hot flashes. I felt worse after taking the medicine than I had before. I would not recommend this to anyone. This is the worst I have felt in my entire life. I actually considered going to the emergency room...

The reason I didn't buy this supplement is after reading the ingredient list as listed below. Just fillers and rubbish that your body can't use. Hardly surprising that folk are suffering with very bad side effects. I use Spatone liquid iron, totally natural with no rubbish fillers. Other Ingredients Lactose, sorbitol, carbonyl iron, hypromellose. Contains 1% or less of the following ingredients: carnauba wax, crospovidone, FD&C blue #2 al lake, FD&C red #40 al lake, FD&C yellow #6 al lake, magnesium stearate, polydextrose, polyethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol 8000 (powder), stearic acid, titanium dioxide, triacetin.Contains: milk Read More Read Less

Malabsorption after stomach surgery. I believe Bifera moderately increased stomach acid and aided in digestion and absorption of nutrients. It did help but I was hoping it would help more.

took product as described and did not see any improvement in iron levels. Developed a severe reaction including weakness, shortness of breath, and hypertension. Required medical treatment to recover and full recovery took several months. Had no other medical issues or prescription medication needs before taking this OTC product.

After two days of using this product my legs broke out with rash-like symptoms. Tiny red dots all over both legs. Went to my MD, he said it was a drug reaction and asked what I was taking. I don't know if it was due to the Bifera alone or if it was a drug interaction with my blood pressure med. I stopped taking the product immediately and my legs cleared up within a week

Severely anemic and my caregiver recommends (2) Bifera tablets per day. There is some slight constipation, but nothing like the symptoms of using heme supplements only.

Bifera seems to be everything it is advertized to be. However, it did not raise my iron level and neither did the prescription drug Reocyte Plus. After two years of taking numerous iron supplements, I tested positive for celiac disease. With this disease, iron is not readily absorbed into the system and no amount of supplements will help. If you are not getting results from your iron supplements, you may want to be tested for celiac disease. The remedy for the disease is simply to refrain from anything containing gluten.Read More Read Less
