Horrible horrible pill. I have been on it for 2 years. It gives me weird bumps on my chin that don't go away unless I pick at them and scab over into horrible pus scabs. I am not me, I yell at stupid things, cry for no reason and have suicidal thoughts. My emotions are like I am on my period times 10. I literally can't stop crying or being angry at everyone. This pill has completely changed who I ...

I have been taking this pill for over a year now and will be meeting with my doctor soon to switch medications. I take to control my endometriosis symptoms, which it does, but the side effects are worse than my endometriosis symptoms! Just like many other people who have reviewed this drug, I have been experiencing horrible mood swings - a lot of anger and wanting to cry for no reason at all! I have developed awful acne that will not go away! I have also went up two sizes and I'm utterly exhausted and depressed. I wish I would have realized sooner that it was Azurette that was cause so I could have gone off of it sooner! I am thankful for everyone else's posts which confirmed the cause.Read More Read Less

I've been on Azurette for about 5 months now and I started to notice effects the second month in. I've gained about 5 pounds, my acne has improved, my mood swings improved as well. My menstrual use to be very regular, almost to the hour. Now with Azurette I am NOT regular. I'm suppose to start my menstrual every last monday and it usually comes towards the end of the week. That is one effect that I do not like.

I think all these women who are saying they had horrible side effects may not realize something - you have to take this at the EXACT same time every day. Thanks to this medicine, I have clear skin, I've moved up a cup size, and I have super light periods! I love this bcp... also, remember that everyone's body is different, so not all drugs will react the same; however, this one has work wonders for me! I can't really describe it's effectiveness for pregnancy prevention, since I'm not sexually active, but I imagine it will work as well as any other :)Read More Read Less

This drug is effective and very easy to use, but it is HORRIBLE!! I have never been so moody or sick in my life!! I have been taking this pill for about 4-5 months. I figured the whole moody thing would subside after the fist month, once my body got used to it, boy was I wrong! Not to mention the constant breast tenderness, bloating, fatigue, nausea, headaches, zero sex drive, etc. It is not worth it! I don't like feeling angry all the time. I don't like not wanting to have sex with my husband. This is the worst pill I have ever experienced and I am switching! I would not recommend this to anyone! Read More Read Less

After going on a bc hiatus for 2 years, I had developed severe acne on my face and back especially. When I started taking azurette, I did get really bad mood swings, was more angry than usual, had breast tenderness, but after about a month or so, all the pesky side effects of the pill wore off. Also, my acne was completely fading and now I never have a pimple on face or back, hallelujah! I'll take being a little more emotional and some unwanted bloat here and there for clear skin, no babies and a regular period. Not the best, but not bad either. Read More Read Less

I switched from Ortho TriCyclen Lo because I thought the few days a month that I was having mood swings were unbearable. During the three weeks I have been on Azurette, I have gained more weight than I have in years, been completely exhausted and miserable, and have had literally NO sex drive whatsoever. I actually pray every night that my fiance won't try to come anywhere close to me. I'm switching back to my old pill immediately, two days of irritability is much better than anything Azurette offers. Read More Read Less

I am on my second month of azurette after switching over from Lutera. (Lutera gave me ora migranes.) I have not has ANY side affects from azurette yet, my period comes right on time every month, I have not gained weight, and my skin is not breaking out. I am pretty happy with it so far. I was a little moody last week but I was on my period. Other than that my mood hasn't changed, if anything, I have been more active, hiking running, focusing on work. :)

This drug has made me crazy. I have never taken BC before Azurette. The first week I had insane itching and discharge, my Gyno said it would go away in a few weeks and it did. But in the meantime, I suffered terribly. Then I started having numbness in my right hand and the entire left side of my body was numb. Consistent breast tenderness, breakthrough bleeding several times a month, loss of sexual interest; difficult to get and remain wet during intercourse. I now have no appetite and I've lost 10lbs. I have to force myself to finish a meal. I am constantly fatigued and have no motivation at all. I am now experiencing some horrible depression, mood swings and anxiety. I cry at the drop of a hat and I'm fighting with my boyfriend, but idk if these are real issues or if I'm unhappy as a result of this BCP. I have always been a jokester and fun to be around, now my friends say that it's depressing to be around me. I feel like I'm turning into a crazy person. I have been on this pill for approximately 3mos and I doubt I will refill my script once I'm finished with this pack. Funny thing is, I read others side effects from this very website before I started taking this pill but I didn't think I was the type of person that could become depressed from a pill. I found out the hard way that I was wrong. Read More Read Less

I was on YAZ for about 4 years and it gave me really bad migraines. I was scared to switch since a lot of birth controls have side effects and the only one on YAZ was migraines. When I finally got the courage to switch my doctor recommended Mircette/Azurette. I decided on Azurette because the insurance wont cover the brand name. I have just started my 4th month on Azurette and I almost switched twice. When I first started taking it I was extremely nauseous and had the worst headache for 2 days (I hadn't had a headache in years...only migraines). YAZ made all my acne go away while Azurette has kind of made it come back. Nothing bad, though...more normal than anything. After a month I felt great because I did not have migraines anymore and nothing else felt different. About the 3rd month I started having really bad mood swings. I would constantly be annoyed at anything and everything. On YAZ I cried when I got upset and now I just get really angry. You can hurt my feelings anymore, you can just make me really aggravated. Anyway... I have not noticed any mood swings since I started my 4th month. I realized that I took the pill late one day and then the next day took it hours early. I think this pill needs to be taken RIGHT on time otherwise it seems to cause bad side effects. Other people have said it causes headaches when taken too early. Well I have noticed crazy mood swings when taken early or late.Read More Read Less

I have been on this medicine for almost a year now and I have mixed feelings about it. Unlike some other users, I have not had any break through bleeding and my period is right on time every month. The first couple of months after I started them, I stayed nauseated and was told my body just needed to get used to them. I lost about 10 lbs but after the second month the nausea went away. I have read a lot of these reviews and how people have felt an increase in depression and anxiety. I also experience these and plan on changing pills when I go back for my yearly. I feel like a completely different person since I started taking these. I have had an increase in depression, i'm definately more moody than I used to be, and my sex drive has decreased tremendously. I thought it was all in my head, but I have noticed a pattern during certain times in the month. I wouldn't recommend this birth control to anyone.Read More Read Less

I'm on my 2nd month of this form of BC (I was off the pill for a few years and when I went to my OB I told her that I used to be on Kariva and did just fine. Why she gave me this instead of Kariva again, I'm not sure...I know they are similiar, but she could've just given me what I knew worked) The first two week were awful. I was moody, wanted to cry for no reason AT ALL. I knew it was because of the BC. It got much better the 3rd week and into the inactive pills. I'm about halfway through the 2nd pack and I was kind of moody the first few days of it, but it was nothing like the first month. Now, (halfway through the 2nd week) I'm spotting. I'm really umimpressed with this drug. I miss Kariva. I'll give it one more month, and if I'm still not satisfied, I'll be asking to go on Kariva. Even though they're in the same "family" of BC, they still are not the same drug. The only good thing I can say is that I've lost about 3 pounds while being on it, without any change to my normal workout/eating habits. Everyone's body is different and we will each have a different response to it. It's hormones. I do recommend giving it at least 2 months if you're just starting. The first month is going to be the worst because it's introducing new hormones into your body. Give it time, and if it still isn't satisfactory, switch.Read More Read Less

THIS DRUG MADE ME CRAZY. I am an incredibly happy person and this drug changed my whole personality. I really didn't experience any physical side effects of the drug and got my period at the same time each month (during the fourth week of the pills) however, mentally, I changed completely. All my friends noticed and especially my mom. I could seriously cry at any point during the day and was put on an antidepressant to deal with a problem that this pill was causing! I am stopping the pill today and I have full confidence that 90 percent of my problem will be resolved. DON'T take this med. Read More Read Less

Been on this pill for about a month now and have not only gained weight, been super emotional and moody but have also had extreme anxiety and am not able to sleep at night. Just stopped taking it the other day because I can not live like this. I'm miserable on this. Definitely do not recommend this pill to anyone!

I've been taking Azurette for over a year now and I am completely dissatisfied with this birth control drug. I have break through bleeding all the time (sometimes it's heavier than my actual period), I'm so moody it's ridiculous and my skin is breaking out like crazy (which has never happened to me before in my life). I read a lot of reviews on this forum about women noticing depression while on this drug, and I think there's a lot of truth to that. I've noticed I go through spells of feeling really sad and sometimes I feel anxious. I've NEVER been a sad person and I've never felt anxiety before. I'm not trying to scare anyone, just sharing the truth about my experience on this medication. I would not recommend this birth control to anyone!Read More Read Less

Like some others here, I was switched from Kariva and then Mircette due to insurance. I was only on the previous ones 2 months each, so I can't speak to "better or worse," but was on Azurette for about 9 or so in total. I gained a bit of weight (~5 lbs.) that I couldn't shake off, no biggie, really. My skin was great. However, over the months my mood became intolerable (for me and to others). The joke is most effective here: being on this pill nearly gave me no reason to be on it in the first place. It was alarming, quite frankly, because I have never dealt with depression before. I didn't even think the pill was to blame until someone suggested it, and since I was so miserable (misery, key word here) I quit it cold turkey. Within three days, sunshine came back into my life and, yeah, I felt truly normal again. Not trying to scare; everyone is different, so what didn't work for me could work perfectly for you. But my advice if you're on Azurette is to keep an eye on yourself and how the people closest to you perceive you, as well. You're taking hormones, so you're bound to ride an emotional rollercoaster of some kind, just make sure to be responsible and identify problems that can be fixed! I hate to think of being a guinea pig, but I suppose it's on to the next pill until I find one that's right for me.Read More Read Less

I have been on azurette for about a year. When I started taking it I started noticing a change in myself. I was moody, depressed (crying every single day), horrible weight gain (from 150 to 180 lbs), and I am very dry in the vaginal area. I havent haqd my period in a month and i have taken multiple pregnacy test and all have been negative. I finally figured out why i have been so angry lately. definately gettting a doctors apt soon

I've been taking Azurette for about 3 years now, I forget what it's like to not be taking it. After reading some other reviews I'm wondering if they realized it takes at least a month to get used to it. Although I am a moody person, I don't think that is caused by Azurette. I've been thinking about changing to a shot, but I hear it makes you gain weight.

I had been on this birth control for a little over 5 months, and have now gotten off of it. I was not feeling like myself at all. I was having terrible mood swings, and almost anything would make me sad and start crying. Being so emotional really took a toll on my relationship with my boyfriend. I have now switched birth controls and am having far better results

I feel so out of it. This is what I said to myself just before I hopped onto this site. And now I see that I'm not the only one. I'm in the 2nd month (week 6) of Azurette and here's how I feel: tired, sad, anxious, uneasy, sad, moody, fatigued ... did I mention sad? I don't feel like my upbeat self at all and usually I'm the life of the party! (OK, maybe not but lets run with it). While my period was light/short, I still had ridiculous cramps. Ladies, listen to your body (good and bad). And with that, I'm listening to mine, getting off of Azurette and calling my doctor. Read More Read Less
