Horrible horrible pill. I have been on it for 2 years. It gives me weird bumps on my chin that don't go away unless I pick at them and scab over into horrible pus scabs. I am not me, I yell at stupid things, cry for no reason and have suicidal thoughts. My emotions are like I am on my period times 10. I literally can't stop crying or being angry at everyone. This pill has completely changed who I ...

When I started taking Azurette, everything seemed fine. There seemed to be 0 side effects. Then, about the third week in, I started to notice that my mood was declining and my thoughts were constantly negative. I would lay in bed for hours unable to will myself to get up. I didn't want to see my friends. Everything seemed pointless and hopeless and I even thought about suicide. That's when I knew I had to get off this pill. I've been off for 3 days now I already feel much better. This is just a warning to anyone considering this BC. Be careful. If I stayed on this pill it would have ruined my life.Read More Read Less

I have been on a few different BC pills and this brand has by far caused the most negative side effects. The most negative side effect that I experienced was weight gain; every girls nightmare. I dance and work out 15+ hours a week and eat very healthy, so this pill was the only thing I could pin point the gain to. Then slowly I started to break out and BAD. I have always struggled with acne but before this pill it was under control and looking great. This pill caused breakouts on my face and down my BACK! (which I had not dealt with before..) Finally, I had terrible mood swings and would sleep for hours; at least 10+ hours a night and take a 2-3 hour nap a day. The side effects are just not worth it. I called yesterday to get switched to something new after just two months of usage. Every girl deserves to feel great, and ladies I believe this one is something you should skip trying. :)Read More Read Less

I was on Mircette for years and very happy with it. The reviews for Mircette are great. Aetna switched me to Kariva. Had a severe allergic reaction. Rite Aid generic for Mircette is Viorelle. I had no problems with the Viorelle. Worked as well as Mircette. Moved to a new city and using Walgreens. Their generic is Azurette. I am really struggling with this drug. I am nauseated all the time. I can barely eat. I can't sleep. I have breast tenderness and I can cry at the drop of a hat. I skipped my period after my first pack of pills. I took a pregnancy test due to the symptoms of nausea and breast tenderness. It was negative. I don't understand how insurance companies can say these generics are the "same" as the brand when they really are not. I would recommend Viorele over Azurette and I need to find it in my new area so I can get back onit and away from Azurette. I am also experiencing cramping as if my period could start any minute. I read these reviews before going on it and I read everything about the way it can impact mood and emotions, but I figured that wouldn't happen to me. I never experienced side effects on my old BC. But through my first three weeks on Azurette, I cried almost every day. I told myself to just keep pushing on, that maybe it will get better with the next cycle. But then in week four, I started experiencing clinical depression. I couldn't get out of bed. All I could do was stare at my ceiling. I couldn't handle talking to my friends. I didn't want to do anything. I didn't want to eat, I didn't want to get dressed, I didn't want to go to work. It was scary. I threw the rest of the pack away. Not worth it to see if it was going to get better.Read More Read Less

I'm only finishing up month two so I understand that it takes a few months for pills to regulate your hormones, however, after two months on two other pills years ago I never had the symptoms i'm experiencing. Month one was fine, but I was a bit moody. Month two I spotted during week two, boobs are horribly tender and are getting huge (I have implants, I don't want bigger boobs). I probably need to go buy bigger bras and I just feel so gross because of it. I've gained five or six pounds, which I know my just be due to the initial change. I'm getting moodier and moodier every day i'm experiencing increasing anxiety. Plus, my ins doesn't give me much of a discount on this pill and 46 bucks a month is too much for the side effects i'm experiencing. I'm trying something else. Read More Read Less

The first 30 days I experienced light bleeding and spotting everyday, as well as acne. As time went on the acne cleared up and has not been a problem. I have experienced severe mood swings and decreased libido. I experience the mood swings during the last 7 days of the cycle. Such as, one minute crying for no reason to angry for no reason. I am not normally moody at all. I will definitely visit with my physician about changing.

I've been taking Auzerette for almost 3 years now. Never had a pregnancy scare, the only downfall i've ever had is spotting into between periods. This has been the only one to actually help me not hurt me.

I'm on my third month of Azurette and I'm still suffering from the side effects. The major one I'm having a problem with is extreme mood swings. They have been so uncontrollable and they happen really frequently. This BC is easy to use and I haven't missed a pill, but my body and happiness has been suffering greatly from taking it. I'm changing BC's next week and I'm hoping for an improvement.

The drug does work. I did not get pregnant and it was easyt to start using. However my problems are a little more sever than the others have mentioned. Almost to the year of taking this I started to develop SOB or Shortness of Breath, severely. My lungs and body have been affected badly by this. This drug has been the only thing I have ever taken and the only thing I can point my problem to. Beware ladies. Don't end up like me.

I'm 21 years old and taking this as a contraceptive currently on the 3rd week of the pack and never taken any BC before. The only problem I had was I literally felt drunk taking the first 3 days..weirdest thing ever. Otherwise I've noticed nothing different. I have not felt sick at all and I take it at noon everyday same time. The latest was seriously 20 min late and since then its right on time. I've read a lot of reviews and I think you do have to take it the exact time not being a couple hours or whatever off like your doctors says is okay. The real decision if I stay on this will be when I have my period because I have always been on time same length and not that heavy. As I was reading a lot of these I read many decreased sex drives...I've never really had that problem to begin with and still have not keeping my fingers crossed. I have noticed very slight mood swings but nothing so bad I want to switch over. Overall a good drug so far for 3 weeks in!Read More Read Less

I started taking azurette only because i had to go to walgreens (I am with CVS) at the last minute to re-up. I usually take Kariva but these three months i've taken Azurette, my boobs are so sore it hurts to touch them, decreased libido however no irregular bleeding. Biggest problem is the sore boobs!

My first month on Azurette was utter torment. After the first month, several of the side effects had subsided. However, I am now very sensitive to smells (to the point where I feel as if I'm going to vomit) and often feel sick a week before to the week after my period. Though I now have a regular cycle, my cramps and mood swings persist. I am now incredibly emotional and often feel depressed due to my negative reaction. This medication also has caused severe anxiety. I can't sleep without some sort of sleep aid and still wake in the middle of the night in a panic. It has caused me more grief than good even though I take it at the same time daily. I would not recommend this medication.Read More Read Less

If only I could give negative stars. Before I started taking this pill I was very happy and perfectly healthy. Had headaches the first 2 months on it but they went away. I did not get pregnant while I was on the pill--so it was effective there--but over the 11 mo I was taking it, I experienced weight gain, terrible mood swings, decreased libido, and bad acid indigestion. I thought it was stress. Then during the last month on it, I went to the ER with unimaginable abdominal pain and ended up hospitalized for 5 days for acute pancreatitis. This is listed as one of the many potential side effects of this drug and my internal medicine doc was convinced it was the cause. This "easy BC pill" cost me thousands in medical bills, unbearable pain and personal and physical trauma I am still recovering from almost 1 year later. If you are reading this, I pray it does not happen to you. I would not wish it even on my worst enemy. I will NEVER take another BC pill again of any kind and I will be reporting this one to the FDA. I am probably the 1 in a million case, but you do not want to even risk being the next one in a million. Please try something else!Read More Read Less

I went on this birth control because I needed a form of contraceptive and also to keep my hormonal breakouts under control. This is the pill that planned parenthood recommended to me. It has cleared my skin up pretty amazingly in the first month. However, it makes me super bloated, exhausted, and incredibly emotional. About 2 hours after taking this pill I feel like crying so I have to take it right before bed. I am going to give it the 3 months and see how much weight I end up gaining before I decide to switch or not.Read More Read Less

I would NEVER recommend Azurette to anyone. I am a healthy, 26 year old, non-smoker and I was recently admitted to the hospital with several severe pulmonary embolisms in my lungs. I am lucky to be alive and will never take oral birth control again.

Let it be noted I have only been taking this medication for a week, but the side effect I have begun experiencing is considered one of the serious side effects of Azurette. I began feeling pain in my left arm last night (about a 6 on a pain scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst). After the pain subsided, my left arm went completely numb and since then has felt both numb and "tingly" for the past twenty-fours hours. My arm now feels extremely weak and can barely function, although the numbness is slowly subsiding. This may not be a side effect for everyone, but it was the first side effect I experienced, and a serious one at that. I have spoken with my doctor, and was advised to stop taking the medication and to go to the hospital if the pain returns or the numbness does not vanish within the next 24 hours.Read More Read Less

Following every other commentators' comments, I take Azurette at the same time every day. After 5 months, my periods are very regular. My breasts are tender but not at all painful. The one side effect is that my desire has grown dramatically, especially during that week and a half before my period.

This was my first time trying birth control. I only took azurette for 3 days and I am noticing bloating, cramps that won't go away even if I take pain meds, anxiety, heart palpitations, difficulty sleeping at night (my mind just races), headaches (which I never get), fatigue, loss of interest in going out/doing things, increased appetite. Most of the reviewers here have said that it doesn't get better over time. I read these reviews before I started this pill but I decided to focus on the positive ones and wait and see how it worked for me. I was just looking forward to starting bc. Being on the pill is not worth having all of these side effects -- especially the depression/anxiety! All I can say is..know your body, know yourself and what is normal for you. I'm stopping the pill today and I will wait a while until (if at all) I try another birth control pill. Read More Read Less

I was put on Azurette after an issue with my insurance not covering my previous medication Natazia. Right away after starting Azurette I noticed some side effects I've never experienced with my previous medication! Constant breast tenderness, back pain, my acne became so severe and I was breaking out on my chest and back (never happened before), and no sex drive AT ALL! I thought I just wasn't attracted to my boyfriend anymore which is totally not the case, sometimes I can't even stand him trying to cuddle or kiss me! Not to mention the worse side effect of all was my severe mood swings and depression. My mood swings are so severe that i get violent (i have never been violent in my life, i am a pretty laid back person). Honestly between the zero libido and severe mood swings, this medication has ruined my relationship with my boyfriend. It is also effecting my relationships with my friends and family. This bc pill has made me crazy and I would NEVER recommend it to anyone. I took it for 3 months and thought that side effects would stop after I get used to the pill, but they never did, intact they got worse! I threw my prescription in the trash and refuse to get back on bc until these side effects subside. My quality of life is more important to me than being on this pill. Read More Read Less
