Horrible horrible pill. I have been on it for 2 years. It gives me weird bumps on my chin that don't go away unless I pick at them and scab over into horrible pus scabs. I am not me, I yell at stupid things, cry for no reason and have suicidal thoughts. My emotions are like I am on my period times 10. I literally can't stop crying or being angry at everyone. This pill has completely changed who I ...

I was given this instead of Mircette. BAD IDEA. I was on Mircette for a long time and LOVED it. I have been taking Azurette for about 6 months now and hate it. I am getting off of it. I thought the side effects would go away but they never have. Extreme exhaustion, headaches at least 4 times a week, bad mood swings, and now a blood clot scare! I may just come off BC pill for awhile and see how I do. (I was on them for PCOS to help regulate my cycle)

I too, like many users, used Kariva and then Walgreens switched me to Azurette. I've been taking Azurette for over a year now and have no problems (other then a few hard to avoid side affects when taking an OC). Overall, I love this pill!

I've been on Azurette since March 2010. I had my Mirena IUD removed in March because of continuous spotting, and now I've gone from one extreme to another. My last period was in March. I've taken a couple pregnancy tests to make sure I'm not pregnant. I've called my OB/GYN and expressed my concern. They said this was normal. So, I should be happy not getting a period, but the other side effects cancel that out. I've gained about 10 pounds (my eating habits have not changed), I get extremely irritated and short tempered during the week before my period is due. I feel very bloated and also have NO sex drive. I have an appt. the end of August to talk to my OB/GYN about changing prescriptions. My husband is pleading with me to go see her sooner because I've been impossible to live with lately.Read More Read Less

First I want to thank all of the ladies who posted feedback here. Your reviews have made me feel so much better. I have felt like I was going crazy for the last few months and had a hunch that it was this pill, but wasn't sure. Your reviews, and identical side effects, have confirmed to me that I need to stop taking this pill. I was prescribed Kariva, like many others, and took it for 3 months. I didn't really have the chance to decide if I liked it or not when my pharmacy switched me to Azurette. I was very nervous to take it, but was hopeful I would like it. I have just finished my 4th month on it and this will be my last. I have anxiety (which I have NEVER experienced before), irritability (all the time), headaches, nausea (off and on throughout the month but especially during my period), breast tenderness 2 weeks before I get my period and depression. I feel like a different person. I don't feel like I am thoroughly enjoying my life anymore and had given serious thought to visiting a therapist. I just left a message for my doctor to see what she recommends putting me on now. Loestrin FE 1/20 worked well for me for 8 years, YAZ was a nightmare (only took it for 5 months) and now this... I've been on the pill for 10 years. Hope this helps other women like me! I'll let you know what I switch to and how it works out! Good luck ladies and stay strong!Read More Read Less

I started Azurette a little over a week ago and have been nauseous when I get hungry, when I eat, or am really tired. I am very emotional, and have missed my period. Is this all normal? I have taken pregnancy tests ( about 4 or so) and they are all negative. I'm very worried and am expecting the worst. HELP!!

Been taking Kariva for years then walgreens switched me to azurette 6 months ago. Experienced hair loss, major mood swings, anxiety, depression, pain in calves and weight gain. Didn't realize it was due to this pill until reading all these reviews. Thank you ladies for posting! I don't feel so alone now. I'm never taking this again.

My doctor prescribed me to Azurette. Everything seemed to be going well the first week and then everything seemed to go down hill from there on. I always want to eat, especially sugar. My back hurts, im craping, exhausted, and worst of all i have EXTREME mood swings ( depression/severe sadness, paranoia, anger, crying...) I am not happy at all with this product.

I just started taking birth control for the first time last year. I started taking Lutera and it was awful! I was constantly emotional and always hungry. I recently switched to Azurette and have been very pleased! I have been a little more tired in the afternoons but overall no other side effects.

When first taking BC this time around I was on Mircette and things seemed to go well, as far as I can remember 3-4 years ago. Insurance changed and then came Kariva and about 10lbs in year one. Also came was more emotions, feelings or paranoya and more sensitive than usual. But the symptons were not overwhelming except the weight gain and in another 6 months gained another 5-7lbs in year 2. But then 4-5 months ago insurance changed again and came Azurette and greatly increased all my emotions to an uncontrollable levels and another 8lbs making 25lb weight gain in 2 years. I feel depressed, I cry for no reason, I am super sensitive and this simply is not who I am. I feel absolutely crazy!! I am not interested in sex at all and would be fine to never have it again. After going to my ob/gyn and PCP, it is determined these feelings are due to mainly Azurette and Kariva. For some reason I didn't notice any symptons on Mircette. I went off Azurette mid-cycle because I didn't think I could handle 3.5 more weeks of craziness. I feel like an emotional train wreck. I was going to go back on Mircette but think I will stay off birth control to see what normal feels like again. Read More Read Less

Thank you everyone, for your comments! Azurette is awful! When I switched from Rite Aid to Walgreens, they automatically switched my prescription from Kariva to Azurette. I began spotting, needing more sleep, having mood swings, depression, and weight gain! I called Walgreens yesterday and they are special ordering Kariva for me. Ladies, don't take Azurette!

I am 42 and have had very heavy, painful periods. This birth control and limited that all together; my periods are so light, i've never worn a regular tampon in my life and it only lasts 4 days. Thank you to my Dr for recommending this life changing med for me.

I am so relieved to hear the many complaints about Azurette. I have had no problems on Kareva. I went to the Bob Hope Pharmacy to refill my Kareva prescription and have started taking Azureete for only five days and have noticed huge abdominal swelling breast tenderness and increase in appetite. I am getting off this pill today. Thank you so much for everyone's feedback, I thought I was going crazy!!

I am 19 yrs old and this is the first time I have used any form of birth control. My biggest complaint about this pill is fatigue and drowiness. I sleep so much, and could sleep all day if I let my body have its way. I'm a runner, and I even feel fatigued when I run now- making it difficult to maintain interest and speed during my running workouts. This is the first pill I have ever been on, and I have not been on it for very long- I hope the fatigue subsides. Also, the water retention is very noticable. I used to get it only during my PMS/ my period but now it is there all the time. Some pros to the pill: I lost 8 lbs in less than a month and my appetite has gone WAY down. I used to be an insomniac, now I sleep like a baby (too well though), and I used to deal with extreme depression, and now my moods are very stable. Read More Read Less

Walgreens switched me a few months ago and told me Kariva and Azurette are basically the same thing with no real reason why. Now that my body is adjusting I have a really bad temper, can switch moods on the drop of a dime and I have absolutely no interest in anything sexual. Now I'm back on my period again after only a week and 1/2 and kinda wondering why? It's not heavy but feels like a full blown period. I go back to the doc soon hoping I can just tell them to leave me on Kariva.

Depression, slight weight gain and angry. After reading these reviews I can't believe how similar the side-effects are. I had to go on antidepressants, got off this a week ago and already feel better.

I have been taking Mircette and then Kariva for at least 10 years with no problems whatsoever. In fact, I have been thrilled. Suddenly, a few months ago, my pharmacist gave me a new generic -- Azurette. I immediately felt different, but dismissed it as unrelated. The symptoms of deep depression, sadness, anger, weight gain, worsening migraines have continued and finally led me to try to compare the inactive ingredients of Kariva to Azurette. Only I can't find Azurette's complete list of ingredients ANYWHERE -- not even on the package! Finally, I found these reviews and am enormously relieved to find that so many others have had the same experiences. Clearly Azurette's formula of inactive ingredients is vastly different from Kariva and Mircette. I urge caution. I would also like to know why Azurette has not made their full pharmacology available.Read More Read Less

I started taking azurette about 10 months ago. I had, for the most part, been pleased with the it. I had minor issues when I first went on it, including headaches and spotting between periods and a touch of acne. All that for the went away after the first month or two, however I have had very little consistency as to when my period starts each month. And unfortunately, just recently my periods have been painful and my acne has flared up terribly! The acne flared up right before my last period and usually clears within a few day but it has only gotten worse (this has been an increasing problem for three weeks now). has anyone else expirienced this? I am seriously considering switching to another pill, I just don't want things to get worse if I do chose to switch.Read More Read Less

I tried taking Azurette after stopping Seasonale, which wrecked my libido. It's been a little over two weeks on Azurette, and I feel like an emotional wreck- I experience irritation and rage several times a day, as well as feelings of sadness and depression. I am fatigued, and my skin looks worse than it has in years. I am done with this pill as of today.
