Horrible horrible pill. I have been on it for 2 years. It gives me weird bumps on my chin that don't go away unless I pick at them and scab over into horrible pus scabs. I am not me, I yell at stupid things, cry for no reason and have suicidal thoughts. My emotions are like I am on my period times 10. I literally can't stop crying or being angry at everyone. This pill has completely changed who I ...

I feel like jumping up and down knowing I'm not crazy. I'm on my 3rd pack and I know somethings not right. I told my dr that since I've been on Azurette that I have felt more sensitive (I didn't mention that when I get angry its extreme). He told me that the pill didn't have much effect on that. He thought I was taking Keriva but Azurette is the generic for Keriva which is the generic for Merchett. Then I asked about the lack of desire for sex and he said the same. But after reading the other reviews, I know its the Azurette. He changed me back to Keriva but I won't start it until next month. I haven't gained weight or had any bouts of depression or tenderness or cramping. My periods were lighter but because of the mood swings, it nearly ended my marriage. Read More Read Less

I only took one pack. I started on BC for my mood swings caused from PMS. It was really good for the weeks up until my period, my mood was fine and I was really happy with Azurette. When I finally got my period, I had the worst cramps I have ever had. It was horrible. I couldn't sleep and no amount of Midol helped with the pain. So, I finished the pack and I'm done with it. I'm still deciding if I even want to try another BC.

I have been taking this pill for a little over a year and have had no problems with it. No mood swings or whatnot that other people have complained about. However, just recently I have been spotting which is not something that many want. Just be wary that for some reason it's normal (so I was told by my physician) with this pill.

I have missed my period for 4 months now. I have taken 3 at home pregnancy test and a blood test to insure I wasn't pregnant. I called my gyno and instead of being concerned about my worries she just said it is the pill. I think she had that made up before she came into the room. Anyways, I have headaches, feel sleep deprived, can cry at the drop of a hat. I will be switching my birth control and my gyno. LOL!

i am so relieved to find other stories of fatigue and depression/mood swings. I am stopping this drug today. I am 41 and have been on it a year ( trinessa and ortho n 777 ) for many years before. My dr switched me to this as i had occasional migraine headaches. they have stopped but i have been worried about my mental state- always have been highly motivated upbeat lady happily married with 2 great kids-- i now think its the azurette! went to dr yesterday and told her this ( also gained 10 pds in a year and have horrible chronic chapped lips i now think are related )Wow! she gave me loestrin 24 fe, but i think i am going to go cold turkey and cleanse my system for a while to see if its really the bc pill-- i sure hope it is!!Read More Read Less

Would NOT recommend. I do understand that effects of BC are different for each individual, but I know myself and that I am regularly a healthy, happy, up-beat person & Azurette made me the COMPLETE opposite! I was on it for 3 full months, became uncontrollably irritable, moody, nauseated, tired, and extremely unmotivated. I had absolutely no patience and no desire for... anything. I ended up taking my negative emotions and petty stresses out on my poor boyfriend :( I'm switching back to Yaz which worked awesome for me in the past, we'll see !Read More Read Less

I have been taking this pill for about nine months now and absolutely hate it. It makes me so emotional and I get upset for no reason. I snap at my boyfriend and my family when they do nothing wrong, and I have been super depressed. I am calling my doctor tomorrow to switch back to yaz.

I have been on this pill for about 2 yrs, since Walgreen's switched. I have had many of the symptoms the others have:no energy, depression, NO sex drive, bad headaches, many bouts of bronchitis, inconsistent periods, night sweats, extremely vivid dreams, and tremendous hair loss!!! Until reading this, I didn't make the connection. I'm done...Calling my Dr tomorrow!

I just got off of this birth contol. I became severly depressed, angry all of the time, had no energy, and was constantly sleeping because of lack of motivation to do anything else. Within a week of going off of it, I am myself again! I laugh, have so much energy, am not sleeping all of the time, and am not depressed at all!!! It is a miracle. :) Please do not take this birth control.

Just finished my first pack of Azurette so far so good. Only one complaint my period is longer and heavier. Tried other BC's and had severe migraines. I would recommend Azurette.

I was originally taking Mircette with no issues. Walgreens switched me to Azurette 2 years ago. I lost a LOT of hair and have hot flashes all the time. First I blamed it on age...but I'm only 33. I didn't put it together until I read these posts. Thank you for all the information ladies! I just went back to my doctor and switched to Loestrin 24 Fe. My doctor put "no substitution" on my prescription this time. I hope my hair will grow back!

Terrible. I have never taken a birth control that CONVINCED me that I was pregnant from day one of taking it. I switched from Loestrin 24 to Azurette to get away from the mood swings and the feeling pregnant feeling and I totally got a phantom pregnancy! I'm taking myself off this to go back to something else.

Thanks gals for posting your experience. I had used Mirette and Kariva in the past with minimal side effects, and was given Azurette by my pharmacy as a generic about a year ago. Since taking Azurette I have had everything from frequent yeast infections, painful sex, low to no libido, and fatigue. The only way I discovered the connection between these side effects and Azurette was when I recently went off birth control completely and felt like a new person. To help with acne, I am going back on birth control but will definitely request Mircette or Kariva and avoid Azurette like the plague. Thank you for sharing your thoughts here!Read More Read Less

Thank you to the other ladies who posted on here about azurette! I had been taking Mircette then Kariva for the last several years without issue. After a move out of state, I had my prescription sent to Walgreens instead of my usual Target, assuming it would be easier. After getting home with my perscription, I realized it was Azurette, not Kariva. The next day I returned to Wagreens & was told both Mircette & Kariva had been discontinued. Based on all the poor reveiws, I didn't want to try Azurette, so I returned it, & went to the local Target where, yes, they had plenty of Kariva and Mircette in stock & had no knowledge about either being discontinued. If Walgreens switches out your Kariva to Azurette, go to another pharmacy!! They'll give you the Kariva!Read More Read Less

I am so relieved to see many others having the same experience as myself. Walgreens switched me from Kariva to Azurette without contacting my doctor. I just assumed it was the same, but I was wrong. My migraines starting coming back, and I noticed major mood swings. I was very irritable and always tired. My doctor finally realized what had happened and switched me back to Kariva. I went to fill my prescription at Walgreens (they demanded to know why I would take Kariva instead of Azurette). Now they are special ordering it for me. Read More Read Less

first time on BC - some side effects first three packages - I experienced some paranoia - once I was on line talkiing to my boyfriend and accused him of being someone else because he wasn't using the same terminology he normally did - thought someone else was using his computer - explain that to someone. has gotten better but I still experience some pretty good mood swings when I get my period. Also my DR told me that if I start the pill on the Sunday I will never have my period on the weekend - that is so wrong. But overall it has prevented pregnancy and that why I am taking it. So for that I give it 5 stars.Read More Read Less

I was on Mircette for a year before my pharmacy changed me to Azzurette. I've been on it two months, and I just started my last 7 pills. For the past week I have been an emotional wreck and my breasts have been terribly sore. I've read other reviews by other users who have had the same exact side effects. I'm enraged that a pharmacy would change to the generic form of a medication just to save a few dollars. I am miserable right now. If at all possibly, stick with Mircette or Kariva. DO NOT let your pharmacy give you Azzurette instead. Read More Read Less

Toward the third week, I start to feel less motivated compared to the other oral contraceptives I have used.
