Horrible horrible pill. I have been on it for 2 years. It gives me weird bumps on my chin that don't go away unless I pick at them and scab over into horrible pus scabs. I am not me, I yell at stupid things, cry for no reason and have suicidal thoughts. My emotions are like I am on my period times 10. I literally can't stop crying or being angry at everyone. This pill has completely changed who I ...

I am on week three of my first pack and will be discontinuing use immediately that I've been able to validate the following side effects: itchy vagina, nightmares, excessive sleepiness (12 hours of sleep some nights), irritability and anger and lack of focus/confusion. The irritability is so significant and discomforting that, honestly, I'd almost rather take my chances being pregnant -- and I really, really don't want children. Another side effect that I haven't seen listed is a sort of tension/anxiousness specifically in my legs. I know it sounds strange, but it's like if the irritability could manifest physically in one part of my body, it's manifesting in my legs. Another one is smelling something burnt (almost like cigarette smoke, but not quite) where there isn't anything. This has happened multiple times, and I'm the only person smelling anything. I was on a different pill for ten years, then Nuvaring for several years and then took three years off from contraception. This was not the reunion I had imagined. I would not recommend this birth control to anyone (and I'm not sure why the LPA I visited did -- and didn't disclose any of these possible side effects when I asked her specifically).Read More Read Less

Just posting bc I'm happy I'm not crazy. I've gained 5 lbs, am tired and hungry all the time, and before my period I become so emotional I feel like a crazy person. Im on my 3rd and final pack. Those last few pills in the pack...there should be a warning that says only take these if you want to feel like dying. Migraines, nausea, shakiness, hot flashes, and overall feeling of just not feeling normal. I'm experiencing right now while on vacation. So done w this stuff. I'm not even gonna finish the pack.Read More Read Less

I've been on these pills for 3 months and have noticed that I sleep alot, have no motivation and have constant mood swings. I work out 3 days a week, there is no reason for this. Not to mention, throbbing migrains and horrible gas and bloating. This will be my last pack of Azurette.

I've been taking this for a few years now & have never really had any issues. Recently my eyebrow hair fell out & I was diagnosed with alopecia areata. I had my thyroid tested & it was normal & have very little stress in my life so the doctors couldn't figure out what was causing this. Now my hair is falling out in clumps. One of the side effects of this medicine is alopecia..... I will no longer be taking this medication & would not recommend it to anyone that would take a chance on having their hair fall out!Read More Read Less

I was on Kariva for years then my pharmacy switched me to Azurette due to cost. At first I thought it was just the sudden change that made me feel bad cause I was on Kariva for so long. But the longer I was on it the worst I got. I had bad cramping, weight gain, more migranes; but the worst were the nightmares and sudden depression. DO NOT TAKE IT!!!

I was on Kariva for 10 years with zero problems. My pharmacy automatically switched to Azurette. Week one: 15lb weight gain & severe abdominal bloating, cramping, severe nausea, vomiting, dehydration, depression, anxiety, night sweats, extreme fatigue. Pharmacy claimed they no longer supplied Kariva due to higher cost, but that Azurette is identical. This is absolutely NOT true. Stopped 2 days ago and I hope this gets out of my system soon. Kariva is available at other pharmacies it is not discontinued.Read More Read Less

My Walgreen's pharmacist told me Kariva was no longer being made so gave me Azurette, telling me it was exactly the same. No, it's not. One month, five pounds later I am lethargic, fatigued, moody, bloated and depressed...with no period. Happily going back to Kariva...which lo and behold can be ordered.

I have been taking Azurette for two months and have started my 3rd package and I am experienceing the same nauseous feeling I felt when I started the first two packages. Usually the feeling starts after the 1st, 2nd and 3rd pill. I was on Mircette and Kiriva with no memorable side effects. I was asked by the cashier at Costco (where I buy my scripts) if I had been told of the switch to Azurette and I told her I was taking it for 2 months already and was experienceing side-effects. I am wondering now if others were haveing a problem with this product. I too like the others reviewing this pill have had some weight gain. I jog, walk, do yoga and eat healthy. I am also very tired and have night sweating. Night sweats my be hormonal but the lack of energy really surprises me. I am calling Costco today and I am off these pills. Hopefully they can get me Kariva or Mircelle. Thanks to the other reviews I know that this is not just me. Thanks girls!Read More Read Less

Since I started taking this my appetite has increased dramatically, my stomach is extremely bloated all the time even though I exercise 7 days a week, I'm extremely tired and lethargic, I get bad headaches, and I'm extremely moody. I will start crying for no reason, I feel anxious, and I feel depressed. Also, I never get acne and all of a sudden my face has these little patches of pimples on my cheeks. I've only been on it for a month but I'm definitely going to try something else. I will say that this pill has not caused swelling in my lower legs and ankles like other pills have done.Read More Read Less

So I have had irregular periods ever since I got my period. But it wasn't until I was 17 I started taking BC. My first was Yaz...made me psycho, then Femcon-didn't have side effects but def didn't help any problems...and now Azzurette. All I can say is, ug. I get these crazy mood swings, which I'd never get before, I get mass cravings like a pregnant woman, I have gained weight which is frustrating because I work out a lot and try to maintain, and get headaches and also also tired. I personally didn't have a good experience, and am switching in 2 days! Read More Read Less

I have been taking Azurette for four months now. Before starting it I had very little frequency of mood swings or dissatisfaction with life in general. Since I have been taking it, however, I have gained in excess of 12lb with no change to my diet or exercise which is very structured as I am an avid triathlete. I've experienced lethargy, irritability and bouts of severe depression and am discontinuing in a few days with the start of the placebos. Preferred Yaz but am already hyperkalemic which was exacerbated with the drug. Definitely would NOT recommend!Read More Read Less

I am so happy to see that other people are experiencing exactly what I am. I have been taking this medication for about 8 months now, and up until recently, I didn't notice a problem. I began taking the birth control for my acne and was happy with the results, however recently I have been feeling depressed. I thought it was the winter season and lack of sun, but the pill makes sense after reading other reviews. I am going to the doctor and switching asap.
