I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

I have tried a lot of different blood pressure medicines, all have numerous side effects. Bystolic has helped me regain my energy levels back, and to generally feel better. I have also started a regular exercise regiment which I could not do on the other meds. So for me, Bystolic 5mg seems to be a god sent. BP now 130/78 and HR 65...my age.

I've been on this drug for about 10 months due to HBP (150/90)from stress. Started on 5mg, reduced to 2.5mg a week later. Almost no side effects initially and it's worked great to bring my BP to 112/70. But now I have stomach pain, gas, cramping, diarrhea, hot flashes, cold hands and feet, muscle and joint pain, tingling in the hands and feet, hip pain, and just recently jumping vision and headaches. I am tired way too much of the time and I have no energy. I intend to see my doc and get off this medicine so I can be myself again.Read More Read Less

the dr. thought this would help my mom who's pressure gores over 200 for the top # and the meds she's on helps but makes her feel week and wobbly. His own mother has had much success with it and gave my mom samples first due to the high cost. was easier as it's only taken once a day but when her BP was tested, it was back over the 200 mark.

Don't stop taking this drug cold turkey. I experienced some pretty high blood pressure readings, chest tightness, fatigue,....etc My other BP meds did't keep my readings down.

Have been taking 10 mg altace for years & BP was still higher than optimal. Also my heart rate has been too high, tachycardia with PVC's. Finally referred myself to a cardiologist, did a stress echocardiogram, he added 5mg bystolic to my meds. What a huge improvement ! BP is around 118/76 & my heart rate is 70 - 75. Most important, I feel fantastic !

I was told this medication would not slow my heart rate like Metoprolol Tartrate had done. Bystolic is worse! My pulse hardly ever gets over 48 BPM and I feel light headed. I was on 20 mg for a week then called my doctor. He told me to lower it to 10 mg and call in a week. I just lowered the dosage last night, but so far no change in the BPM and am still light headed. I will give it another day or two, but that's about it. Give me back my Metopolol!!

I was taken off Linsinopril and put on Bystolic Feb/2011. Feb/2012 I was rushed to hosp, pain in chest & stomach, nausea, and sweating profusely. Doctor told me I have a healthy heart but the Bystolic has weakened my heart to a point that it cannot beat properly. Bystolic weakened my heart muscle so much until I had to have a pacemaker installed in my chest. I now take Norvasc and doing fine on this medication. Now I hear that calcium channel blockers (Norvasc) has been shown to be a cause of cancer. Wow!Read More Read Less

Lowered my BP with 5mg daily dose but slowed pulse to 41 BPM. Dr changed dose to 2.5 mg but experienced bad chest pain, headache, bloating, tingling and anxiety. Did I mention the chest pain!! Went to emergency room due to symtoms but heart checked out fine. Seeing Dr again tomorrow and will definately quit this medicene.
