I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

became aware of my A-fib in 1994, Heart Dr. put me on med's to restore normal rhythm. Med worked for about 3 weeks, had to stop because of side effects. New med given and that lasted about 3 weeks, before another reaction occurred. Third med worked for about 2 years, then switch to Tophrol 100 XL, did very good on this for almost 6 years, then was changed to Bystolic and have been on this for 2 years. I am in chronic A-Fib, and the med's offer good protection to control my rhythm and keep me stable. Read More Read Less

I have been taking Bystolic for over 4 years. Prior to that, I had been on different HBP drugs never staying on one for more than 18 months due to side effects. My blood pressure has been normal as a result of Bystolic and if there are any side-effects, I cannot say they have bothered me much. While expensive, I am pleased with it as well as my doctor.

It lowered my heart rate and blood pressure excessively and stopped my heart for multiple seconds at a time several times. MD's need to be really circumspect in prescribing this and monitor closely, esp for long-term use, as in several weeks.

I began this drug about three mos. ago. About that time, or shortly after, I had an attack of bronchospasms that scared the hell out of me. It was life-threatening, I went to the emergency room. I never had anything like this before.Still not sure if the bronchospasms were caused by the Bystolic. Still having lesser episodes ,and am discontinuing the Bystolic. Stay tuned to this space.

My doctor treated my extremely high blood pressure with a combination of Edarbi and Bystolic and they worked amazingly well to reduce my extremely high blood pressure with zero side effects. I highly recommend bystolic and would recommend you request this treatment from your doctor to reduce high blood pressure.

I took Atenolol for 12 years, always tired and worn out. Then my C.O.P.D got worse and had terrible wheeze. I was changed from Atenolol to Bystolic. After one week my lungs are clear, I have more energy. My oxygen levels increased from 91% to 93%. This drug is more compatable for people who need puffers for lung problems.

Lowered my BP with few side effects. Can anyone tell me if pills can be cut in half - would be cheaper??

I reviewed this drug 5 weeks ago, just prior to getting off of it. I'm happy to report that my BP is very normal (110/76) without any medicine. I believe that my doctor should've addressed the stress that was causing my HBP by giving me an anti-anxiety medication during my season of stress, instead of treating the outcropping symptom of the stress. All the symptoms I mentions earlier that I was experiencing as side effects have ALL STOPPED since I stopped taking this medicine. It did control my BP very well, but the side effects were not for me. I would not take this medicine again.Read More Read Less

After taking for a year, med. stopped working. But, while on this med, I did not suffer any side effects. Wish it still worked, new med gives me horrible global body cramping. New drug is Losartan 50mg.

I intitally started taking this medication due to heart palpitations but it also kept my blood pressure under control since I fluctuated with the numbers. I have been taking bystolic for about two years now. At first I experienced all the side effects that everyone has listed: the heavy legs/calves feelings, headache, feeling spaced out, short of breath when I tried to exert some type of physical activity/exercise, low sex drive, but all these symptoms subsided and by 6 months I was feeling back to myself. I started with 10 mg and went down to 5 mg and I can say I am doing well on it. My heart rate is within normal range and my blood pressure is perfect range. Read More Read Less

Was having chronic headaches and could not determine cause. Doctor determined they were caused by high blood pressure which is hereditary in my family even though we are generally healthy and fit. Starting taking Bystolic and it brought my blood pressure down into the normal range immediately. Only side effects I experienced were small muscle twinges when I first started taking it and I get them again if I forget to take the pill. Other than that no issues with it.

Recently started taking this medicine. The first time I took it, I developed a nagging headache within the hour that hasn't stopped. Woke up 1:30 a.m. couldn't sleep rest of night. Already experiencing abdominal issues; I will not take this drug any longer!
