I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

even though my doctor disagrees.... I believe that Bystolic reduces and slows metabolism. Eventhough I do 30 mins of medium intensity cardio every day and control diet. Weight just maintains.

I have been on this medication for over 2 years now and I have not had any side effects. It lowers my blood pressure and I am not lethargic at work like I was when I was on propranalol. Great medication.

I was switched to this drug after other meds were not as effective in controlling by blood pressure. I stopped taking this medicine after I developed a persistent cough. There was a change in my vision; there were auras around everything in sight. Once I stopped taking this drug the cough went away and my vision was back o normal.

I have been taking 10MG of this drug twice a day. My prescription provider now will not give me 10mgx2 and will only give me 1x 20mg daily. Puzzling to me. Will the 20mg pill last 24 hours or be too strong for once a day.

This medication is working well to treat vasovagal syncope but I've recently been diagnosed with Tinnitus (ringing in the ear) and I'm wondering if it might be the medication.

I started on 5mg of bystolic for first time high blood pressure. I felt more dead than alive on it. I had extreme lethargy and weakness. After a week on it my Dr. said the dosage must of been too strong . I was switched over to 2.5 mg of Norvasc and immediately felt better the next day.I still have side effects from the Norvasc but not nearly as bad as the Bystolic.

I feel slightly dizzy and sick. I had a bad experience with having to urinate about ten time during one night which did not reoccur.

I started taking this medication a couple months ago when a specialist prescribed it to me due to my high blood pressure (180+/130+) and to help with my heart rate (80+). When I first started taking it I was told to take it at night, I remember becoming very sluggish- it was like as soon as I took it, I had about 25 min to make sure I was in bed or I'd basically just collapse anywhere. It did however help bring down my heart rate and helped lower my blood pressure with the help of other medications. I did have diarrhea with this medication and I woke up in the middle of the night sweating. I had crazy dreams. But with all of that aside the medication really does work. and your doctor wouldn't prescribe it to you if they didn't think the outcome was grater then the side effects. After months of taking it, we found out that my high blood pressure was due to a blockage in my early branch artery in my kidney- once I got it fixed my blood pressure and pulse went back to being normal. best of luck to everyone.Read More Read Less

Developed severe back of neck debilitating cramps both sides of neck, esp left side. Given as 1st drug with no positive reduction in bp after 4 days. Hydroclorothaizide added which controlled the bp and still does without Bystolic. Also develtyoped 101.2 fever, rash and hive type lumps on skin over back of neck muscles. Pain and low grade fever continued even when given amoxicillin for a subsequent non- connected surgery.

I have been taking this medication for nearly a year. The only side effects I have are cold hands/feet and dizziness at times when tilting head back and forth. My doc put me on this to reduce my fast heartbeat due mostly to anxiety. I also take anxiety medication PRN when I feel I can't tolerate it. Overall, it is effective for me.

Unsure if this drug is causing sporadic pains in my head (mostly the side and back of the head). Also, I have noticed a change in my vision and wondering if these are side affects from taking Bystolic.

I started taking it in early October 2013 at 2.5 mg/day. Some apparent effects are mild leg cramps at night, vivid dreams, and more frequent bowel movements. I think it's difficult to discern with any certainty whether or not the effects result from the drug or from other conditions. Is there something others find to be better?

I am a 48 yr old female taking 5 mg of Bystolic for heart palpitations and pvc's. I had been taking metoprolol for 3 yrs and it suddenly quit working so my dr. changed me to this. I hated it the first week. I felt sick to my stomach, my head felt foggy and I just didn't feel good in general. But after that first week my body must have adjusted to it because those symptoms all went away. The only side effect I still have is the vivid/weird dreams which I understand should taper off in a few months. I can tolerate those. It has helped my palpitations/pvc's though not quite as effectively as the metoprolol once had. But it makes my life livable. Another plus over the metoprolol is that Bystolic allows me to get my heart rate up when I work out - something I struggled with and was usually unable to do before. That was always frustrating to me since I am very active and exercise every day. I think the important thing for everyone to realize is that we all don't react the same way to medications. We are all wired differently and are also on other meds which may affect what, if any, side effects we experience. If I had read some of these reviews prior to getting my Bystolic prescription I never would have taken the first pill! It's worth trying and seeing if it can help you and if it doesn't discuss other options with your physician.Read More Read Less
