I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

I began experiencing severe chest pain Feb 08 and was put on medication & sent for testing to rule out pleurisy, abnormal growths/tumors/bone/muscle damage/etc to the chest/lungs/ribs. Nothing was assisting with the pain, which was at times so severe it hurt to ride in a car. I finally went to a cardiologist who found mitral valve prolapse and put me on Bystolic 5mg a day. Within the first 3 days, I was like a zombie, with no energy, unable to think or see clearly. I have now been on Bystolic for 2 weeks and although the chest pain, fluttery heartbeat, and shortness of breath is still present, it is not as severe as before. I have still experienced rather extreme fatigue, lightheadedness/dizziness, and severe headaches (which I've previously had problems with migraines, but this adds to it), but I have also had an extreme increase in appetite, and if I do not eat, I feel sick and as though I might pass out. So far, the good outweighs the bad, but within another couple weeks to a month, I will reevaluate remaining on this medication.Read More Read Less

Started 5 days ago. Feel good one day and not the next. Have nausea, strange pains in chest and rapid pulse at times. Pains are at top of rib cage on each side under breast area.

This will only be day 3 for me on Bystolic. I am only taking half of a 5mg tablet, but I also take enalapril 10 in the evening. I was already dizzy and tired before starting Bystolic. The first day I was exhausted to new levels, but yeaterday and today I feel awesome and not dizzy anymore. However I am nervous my BP has been dropping about 15-20 points per day on this drug and I am afraid it will go too low... in 3 days I have gone from avg or 140/95 to today 99-64. Heart rate dropped from 108 to 73. But at the moment I feel great. Read More Read Less

I have Tachycardia. My doctor has me on Bystolic 5mg once a day. I am experiencing extreme fatigue, no get up an go, no appetite, can't think clearly. Almost like being in a long period of depression. My heart rate has slowed but bp runs 90/54, sorry but thats too low. It would be great if I was a teenager. Last appt seen PA she is suppose to talk with doc. I too would rather live with a fast heart rate then been be so dead tire and depressed feeling.

However I have gained at least five pounds. and I am very short of breath, and when I sit for a period of time my calves feel very heavy. Also I do not have a sex drive at all. can anyone help me. Another thing that I noticed is that I feel depressed.I did not have these feeling before I started on bystolic.

My blood pressure was great after 3 weeks. However, my sleep decreased from 7 hours per night to 15 hours per week; chronic fatigue and tiredness, and moderate weight gain. I have had all the loss in quality of life I can take. I quit and changed doctors.

Dr put me on this to replace Toprol XL for tachycardia and high BP. Have been on it a month now, and the side effects from the toprol have all but diappeared. I'm more aware, and even my vision is better (Colors are brighter and I see sharper). I've also lost 5 lbs in the last 2 weeks. I gained almost 20 taking toprol, and found it near impossible to lose weight until I switched to Bystolic. Very happy so far.

I have been on Bystolic for 8 weeks for a rapid pulse rate. I am having severe daily headaches, numbness and tingling in my hands & feet and an inexplicable weight gain of 10 lbs. While my pulse rate is now normal, I am not sure the side effects are worth it.

I started Bystolic after visiting my doctor after a car accident. I was initally put on 5mg. On my follow up apt a month later, my bp was still too high, so my dose was increased to 10mg. I mentioned to my dr that since beginning this drug i have had a real problem with insomnia. I was told that it was not the drug, that instead it was stress and anxiety. I never had problems sleeping before i started Bystolic. Has anyone else had problems with insomnia after starting?

I start taking Bystolic, 5mg, 9/10 - being switched from 2.5mg Lisinopril which I’ve been on for 3 months - worked great, but, came down with a dreadful case of Psoriasis that I’ve never had before, nor is there any family history. Dermatologist thinks it “may” be the Lisinopril – cardiologist doesn’t think so, but, suggested I try Bystolic. After reading the comments, might just try “spin the drug wheel” again.

I have been on 5mg of Bystolic for 5 weeks now. I was switched from Lisinopril (took for 6 weeks), which was causing breathing problems, sinus issues, extreme fatigue and frequent dizziness. All of these side effects went away within a week of stopping the medication. Bystolic has slowed my heart rate down, and eased my White Coat Syndrome quite a bit. During dr's visits, I would get up to 170/110 (130/70 at home). Now, I am reading around 130/75 in dr's office, and I'm not having any negative side effects, as with the other BP meds I was taking. So far, I am very pleased with this drug. Read More Read Less

I have had excellent initial results from Bystolic 2.5 for my blood pressure. However, I'm having diarrhea and hoping to find a way to solve this problem so I can stay on the med. I've been taking it after dinner.
