I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

I have been on this medicine for about 2 weeks now. After taking lisinopril for 1 week, with horrible side effects, this is a miracle drug for me. The side effects are minimal and my bp has been lowered considerably.

I have had bad reactions to almost every blood pressure drug I've been on. When my dr. gave me Bystolic I was hoping for something that would really help me. And, for the first week it did. It was great - lowered my bp to around 116/78. But then, I started having itching and irritated eyelids. I thought it was a reaction to make-up. But, after several days of not using the make-up the problem got worse. By that time I was also having a metalic taste. And my eyelids were swollen half shut. After two days off Bystolic the swelling and itching in my eyelids stopped. Also I was having what the dr. called "tennis elbow." That has also gone away since I've been off Bystolic. I was hopeful, but this drug does not work for me.Read More Read Less

I was put on bystolic as a beta-blocker to prevent migraines...as I was getting several each month. After 4 weeks on 2.5 mg of bystolic the migraines subsided substantially in number, but I experience severe pain in my left shoulder, shoulder blade area, and neck. The pain set in about a week after starting bystolic, and I just thought it was a muscle ache. Taking 400mg of advil around the clock for days only masked the pain before it returned. After reading reviews of the drug I camto the conclusion that the bystolic was causing the muscle pain. I've been off the drug for 3 days now and nearly all the pain has subsided. I decided that I could handle frequent migraines better than the constant muscle pain in my shoulder area. At least migrain meds work and make the pain go away. Bystolic just caused me constant pain. Severe shoulder/nedk pain needs to me listed as a side effect.Read More Read Less

I have been on Bystolic for 3 weeks along with other hypertensives and have had leg and foot cramps 3-4 times a week, and problems with sleeping. The most problematic side effect was chest pain, sometimes dull, other times sharp during the first week. I had never had chest pains prior to this drug. I plan to discontinue this drug in the near future since I have read more medical literature on this medication and find that it is not a preferred treatment for folks with hypertension.

My dr put me on Bystolic about 2 wks ago for high blood pressure and rapid heart beat. Even while relaxing my bp would run 150/90 and 130 bpm. So far it's been an avg of 120/88 bp and 80 bpm. I'm very happy with the results. However the side effects have been annoying though tolerable. Dull, achy headaches, dizzy spells, and chest pains. I'm hoping that those level out once my body completely gets use to the med.

for years i've complained to my dr about being tired and out of sorts. she checked my thyroid and told me nothing was wrong, it must be stress. i knew something was wrong but she wouldn't listen. suddenly i started to get heart palps like every 1 to 30 minutes apart. then dr said it was too much caffeine, still ignoring me! i went to a different dr who found i have mitral insufficiency and prescribed Bystolic. oh my gosh! after 2 days i feel great! i haven't been able to do things for so long without getting winded and exhausted and this past weekend i cleaned my entire house without stopping to take a break every 10 minutes! I'm thrilled!Read More Read Less

I have been taking this drug for some time now. I feel extremely tired all the time. I often feel like I am in a fog. Sometimes I can't sleep & sometimes I sleep like a rock. I also have pain in my shoulders, didn't realize it could be a side effect of this med until reading others' reviews. It has helped my BP and pulse rarely goes above 80 ... but at the cost of me feeling horrible most of the time.

This medication has worked to lower my BP, from around 150/110 to 115/65 on average. It also helps with my anxiety and benign PVCs. The only side effects I have experienced are feeling drowsy and light-headed. I feel a little "out-of-it" some days.

I started taking Toprol about 2 weeks ago for an irregular heart beat and panic attacks and immediately felt bad! I was so tired, my hair was falling out, and seemed to increase my attacks. I switched over to Bystolic and I feel so much better! My hair seems to still be coming out more than usual but not nearly as bad as it did on Toprol. I feel more energized too. I have only been on it for about 2 weeks so I will update later!

Other high blood pressure meds caused excessive drowsiness. Bystolic does not cause drowsiness.

Been on Bystolic 10mg over 5 months now. At the beginning I had dizziness, fatigue, trouble with sleep and weakness during exercise but now since my body has adjusted, it is all gone. I am very happy with the results of Bystolic. I am very active & exercise 5 days per week, brisk walks 2 to 3 miles per day and jog for 5 minutes without problems. Bystolic helps me control stress and anxiety, I feel much calmer. I have not gained weight, contrary I have lost 10 pounds. Before, my High Blood Pressure will go to 170-190 over 100-110, now readings are: Morning (wakeup) 125-130 over 70-75 Resting pulse (wakeup) 56-60. The only con is the price of medication, Bystolic $50.00 per 30 pills I have no insurance Read More Read Less

I've been on Bystolic for 3 days now. I have extreme fatique, leg cramps, and headaches. BP was running 227/109 now 180/107. I'd rather it be high than feel like this.

This is by far the worst medicine I have ever taken. I've been so sick can't get off the bed. Headaches, dizzyness, shaking, nausea...you name it, this one gives it to me. Can't wait for Mon. so I can get off this poison.

SEVERE fatigue, dizziness, slight nausea. I am very active and athletic. This is NOT a drug I would ever recommend for an athlete. Before taking Bystolic, I could play sports at a high level. Since taking Bystolic for a week, I am literally unable to compete and require constant resting periods just to participate in a medium-high level workout. If you're a competitior, try something besides a Beta Blocker! I'm going back to Enalypril 20mg daily. Bystolic will lower your BP and your desire to do amnything bul lay around he house and gain weight!Read More Read Less
