I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

My BP and pulse rate went down after the first day, so I was impressed. It's been a steady 112/75 with pulse at 58, which is good since I'm athletic. I'm also on Avapro for high BP. Not sure why I have to take both. I've now been on Bystolic for a month and started noticing side effects over the last week, mainly constant fatigue, headaches and most recently joint pain. I sleep all night, but don't feel rested in the morning. I exercise every day, but am now having trouble finishing my routines. Too tired and trouble breathing. I have mild asthma. Made an appointment with doctor to change medicine. Joint pain too severe to tolerate. I can't do a lot of everyday things anymore. I'm 54 and in good health otherwise. Medicine is worth a try to lower your BP; you may or may not get side effects. Read More Read Less

My MD put me on Bystolic for benign PVCs and APCs which I've had since childhood (I'm now 62) and were really annoying. I've been on Bystolic 2.5mg daily for 4 months and it has only relieved 50% of the palpitations. Now I've started to have dizziness, feel lightheaded, acid reflux, chest pains, joint pains, flushing and sweating. I've tried Toprol and Cardizem and the side effects with them is worse, but I'm disappointed with the Bystolic.

Dr. presribed this for rapid pulse. Been taking 5 mg for a week now, and pulse has went from 90-130 down to 60-75. Some light headedness and fingers & toes feel cold at times.

Before being prescribed Bystolic my B/P 135/90 and my pulse was 110. Now my B/P is at normal range and my pulse from 80-90. I have had a high heart rate of over 100 since my teens but never had high B/P. Since taking this medication I have more energy and I don't feel as anxious or easily aggitated. I also don't get out of breath as easily. I have not taking my anti-depressants anymore. (I don't seem to need them) Dr. said if I would exercise and drop a few pounds I may not have to take this medication anymore.Read More Read Less

I am taking this with Tekturna 300 mg and it seems to be working alright. Bystolic lowered my heart beat considerable. I had between 80-90 and now its down to 70. Also it gives me unwanted errection. Wonder why?. Previous medicine caused lower sexual desire and my doc said bystolic would help me with that.

Was using toprol, but experienced tiredness later on in the day. I have been using bystolic for over 3 weeks. Experiencing severe tiredness and dizziness. I have never felt worst. I am now weening off, and still feel side effects. Sharpe pain. Would not advise anyone to use this drug, especially without knowing side effects.

I have been taking Bystolic for a month and a half. My BP was 156/98 before starting this medication. After one month at 5 mg my BP was 165/65. My doctor doubled the dosage, now I take 10 mg/day. The only side effects I have noticed are a metallic taste in my mouth which has caused me to loose weight since I started taking Bystolic. There are times I feel light headed upon standing. I don't have any other BP medications to compare Bystolic with as this is the first time I have been on any medication. Read More Read Less
