I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

I had High Blood pressure related to adrenal and subsequent kidney disease. I was taking Inderal for PAC's, and switching to bystolic has lowered my blood pressure and made my management of kidney meds simple.

Have been taking bystolic for 2 months now. Has not decreased my blood pressure as low as I want around 130/85 but the doctor is pleased with this, would like it to be around 120/70. Side effects were shortness of breath and insomnia. These side effects are decreasing. I think this is a pretty good medication and will continue and will try and decrease bp even lower with excercise and diet.

Works effective with dropping the bp from 145/95 to 120/80. Heart rate drops to 45-50 range. Does cause tiredness, fatigue, some paresthesis, had issue with vision and pain around eye area, leg pain, dizziness

I have irregular heart beat, and at night my heart would race to 180+ bpm. It was frightening. In addition to Lisinopril, my doctor added 5 mg. Bystolic last month. I take the new pill after dinner. So far, I have had no "racing" heart rate episodes, and am grateful for that. The side effects though are: when I wake in the morning, my pulse is only about 42 bpm., and I am very cold most of the day. I am not athletic at all, and a normal heart rate for me should be about 75. The slow rate makes me tired and cold, but I suppose it's better than dealing with racing heart beats. I have also lost 4 pounds since beginning Bystolic, and it's not from dieting!Read More Read Less

I have experienced muscle cramps recently & wondered if this could be a side effect? Mostly, they are in the lower leg area. I am not taking any meds to lower Cholesterol. Have you heard of anyone having this problem?

I just started taking 5mg of Bystolic and I've noticed that I've been experiencing terrible insomnia and I never had problems with sleeping befoe taking this drug. Toprol XL did the same thing for me. Bystolic just seemed to be toxic to my system. Also had severe diarrhea with Bystolic. Dr. wants me to start taking lisinpril, but I am starting to feel that all blood pressure meds. have the same bad side effects.

My biggest complaint would be difficulty in sleeping, tiredness, diarrhea, and not feeling well.

Have been on for about 2 weeks now and have had very limited side effects only shortness of breath. Just got off of Norvasc which I had every side effect, my feet hurt so bad I couldn't walk and I was so tired I couldn't hardly move but it did keep my blood pressure low, not worth it with the side effects though. With Bystolic my energy level has increased and it has helped with the hypertension feeling I get that I haven't been able to control before. However, It still has not decreased my blood pressure by much it stays around 135/85 and does go up. This pill seems to decrease by the end of the day so I will start taking 5mg in the morning and 5 mg in the afternoon to see if it will get my blood pressure under better control. If not I will probably have to go with something else.Read More Read Less

Today my BP was 180/90 at the doctor's office. Have been taking for approx 1 yr. Have persistent dry cough, lethargic, nagging headache, now having near-fainting spells after physical exertion. Heart monitor worn for 1 month, revealed erratic heartbeat. Doctor switching me to Verapamil SR today. Sure hope it works.

I have only been on this medication for a week but instantly it has lowered my blood pressure and I have had no side effects whatsoever as of yet. I am very pleased. Having been previously on no other medication I was somewhat reluctant but so far so good. It has also helped with stress and anxiety.
