I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

I have been on Bystolic since early January 2010. Today is 3/4/10. It has controlled my BP and my heart rate. I became dizzy a few times. I have noticed that I am a little fatigued at times, but I am sleeping through the night with occassional nightmares. I used to have insomnia...so this has been great to help me sleep. I have been exercising, walking on the treadmill and no big reactions.

I have been taking Bystolic 5mg for about 4 months after a very bad reaction to Micardis; so far so good. I do get some of the side effects such as: chest pain and rashes but it has lowered my blood pressure and that's what matters.

I BEEN ON BYSTOLIC FOR FIFTEEN DAYS. CONTROLS MY B.P. ALONG WITH B.P.MED. I TAKE 5MG ADAY. HAD TO START TAKING TWO 20MG ACID PILLS ADAY. NEVER THOUGHT TO MUCH ABOUT IT UNTIL I GOT DIZZY, WANTED TO THROW UP AND HIT THE POTTY ALOT. GOT TO THINKING ,ITS A SIDE EFFECT OF BYSTOLIC. OTHER THAN THAT IT WORKED WELL FOR ME. WILL TALK TO DR. MONDAY ABOUT CHANGING IT.

After more than 2 years on Bystolic (5mg) I still tolerate it well. BP control is good. I'm also on Micardis. Insomina is a constant problem. It has reduced my running time in a 5k about four minutes. Other distances are similar. It limits the amout of alcohol I can drink.

Have taken for 2 weeks, starting on lowest dose (2.5mg) Had gastric side effects with Hyzaar and swelling of lymph/neck along with chronic ear infection with ExForge. After 2 weeks, neck/lymph swelling again. Somewhat painful. Anyone else encounter this?

Four months into taking this medication, dizzy spells and ringing in the ears started. BP still a little elevated but stable. How long does the dizziness last after tapering off the medication? Can anyone tell me?

Experience with Bystolic (so far) has been very positive. Aside from some minor side effects like fatigue, occasional shortness of breath and some minor lipid changes. The results have been extremely positive in the sexual area. Erections are once again hard enough to chip diamonds. Some previous hypertensive medications, definitely caused side effects in the sexual department.

I have been on this med for about 8 month and am very pleased with my results. I have had a significant drop in my BP. However it does decrease my heartrate to about 50, and causes me to have very few dizzy spells. Very pleased though

At 40 years old during a routine surgery for removal of a cyst my heart stopped, the doctors shocked me back, after this I was in A-fib. The doctors told me my heart would probably go back to normal in a few weeks, it didn't. So they tried shocking my heart back to normal, it lasted about a week and back into A-fib I went. Over the next year they tried 2 more times shocking my heart, it didn't work and the doctor told me I was in permanent A-fib. My doctor decided to do cardiac ablation, after the 8hr precedure which was successful, I was put on Metoprolol,Avapro, and Sotalol. One of the side effects I experienced was total erectile disfunction. Never having experienced this problem except during the previous year while in A-fib, I was not very patient with my doctor wanting to wait a year to make sure my heart did alright before changing any of my medicines. After a year I was out of patience, I told my doctor whichever medicine was causing the problem I wanted off of it. He took me off of Metoprolol and put me on Bystolic. After ONE DAY of being on Bystolic my problems with ED were over. So at this time I am pleased with Bystolic and hope I continue taking it.Read More Read Less

My Cardiologist took me off of Coreg CR due to ED and multiple dizzy spells. I have been on Bystolic (10 mg) for 2 weeks and have developed the following side effects: Nausea, Headache, Dizziness, Extremely Cold Hands & Feet, Worsening of Tinnitis. I am being switched back to Coreg as we speak.

I took Toprol XL for several months for heart palpitations, and had awful side effects: exhausted, no energy, hair loss, weight gain, sore muscles, depression. After moving to another town, I saw another doctor, and while he didn't believe my symptoms were from the Toprol (don't these doctors read the side effects?)he switched me to Bystolic. Within days I felt SO much better! Only real side effect now is the cold hands and feet, especially when it is colder weather. But after all the other Toprol effects, this is certainly tolerable! Tinnitus pretty severe. Some lethargy, loss of energy. Has helped with b/p somewhat. Took lisinopril, exforge, before. Side effects with Bystolic less severe. Think I can live with this one.
