I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

52 year old male. Have taken this med. two weeks and have gotten two very large ulcerative boils on my head and neck. I have never had anything like this before. I will discontinue this drug asap.

I was advised by my doctor of being hypertensive to exercise and adding Bystolic with my existing blood pressure medication would be wise. I tried it, and my new 45 to 46 pulse with blood pressure readings that were good one day and bad the next (my numbers were crazy), left me puzzled. What started out as a treadmill test before starting a new running routine, now left me feeling as if someone had their foot planted on my chest leaving me with very little energy to even walk! I would like to add that my controlled pre-diabetic number of 5.8 has risen to 6.1 in three months since its use. I am not a doctor, but I feel it has a lot to do with the my glucose rise, and I have since stopped using the product. My blood pressure numbers have returned to normal, as they were prior to being prescribed this medicine. A difficult cycling ride at 5500 feet on hilly mountain roads still left me with a respectable BP reading. I cannot wait to get answers as to how I ended up in this situation. Hey folks! Be careful! I am curious if anyone is on this drug for anxiety? Just visited a doctor for anxiety type symptoms and he prescribed this for me. Have never had problems with my bp, even thru two pregnancies it was always normal. I will try it and see it goes, but would like other input?

occasionally, I get a rapid beat for 5 seconds like 6 or 7 beats fast, but it goes back to the regular beat. I had supraventricula tachycardia, and high blood pressure.

I have been on Bystolic for a year and a half and since i've been on it i have experiencd shortness of breath, swelling of hands and feet, fatigue, headacks and just recently ringing in the ear. I will definately ask my doctor to change the madication soon. Seems to me that taking medication to treat one thing which then in turn gives you 10 things does not make sense.

I am REALLY curious to know if anyone has experienced the same reaction to Bystolic that I appear to have experienced. I am an Insulin Dependent Diabetic (IDD or Type I) for thirty+ years due to damage to the Pancreas from an external factor. Other than all else being normal, I have had slowly increasing (elevating) Blood Pressure for about the last ten years. I have always been "into" daily fitness programs including road cycling, resistance training, swimming / surfing and martial arts and have recently extended to participating in triathlons (for the last three years). I have been taking Cozaar 100mg for the last several years (the only medication in addition to two forms of insulin). Fortunately, my blood tests are usually very good to excellent including low cholestrol results and very low triacylglyceride results. Just over a week ago, my NEW doctor recommended and added Bystolic 5mg to my daily medication regimen because "we gotta' get the Blood Pressure down to 120/60" (HUH!!!). The result has been a drop of my Heart Rate to as low as 35 BPM (resting) and a normal mid range in the 50s prior to cycling (I have had my own various types of semi-sophisticated monitoring equipment for twenty + years - love the continuing changes and newer technology!!!). I began to notice that I cannot get my Heart Rate above 100 BPM without extreme "pushing" at speed and into a headwind regardless of the time and effort expended. What concerns me the MOST is that as my Heart Rate has been decreased artificially, the Blood Pressure increases! Hmmm...??? I am now reducing the dose to 1/2 of the original recommendation even though the doctor states that the much slower Heart Rate is "ALWAYS" desirable even though my normal rate is in the high fifties to the mid sixties. However, he agrees that I can reduce the dose and gradually phase it out completely. Your comments and / or feedback is more than encouraged and most welcome. Thank you, DonRead More Read Less

I was on this drug for 90+ days, joint pain, chest pains, shortness of breath, and my tryglicerides went through the roof (800+) prior to taking it they were 325. I will not take beta blockers, now I am ace inhibitors, alot safer and more effective. Avoid this drug if at all possible.

Bystolic is tolerable, but watch for weight gain, hair loss, shortness of breath and increased choleterol and glucose. This medication will increase appetite and pack on the pounds. Considering Metoprolol or Toprol XL which has been around forever and highly regarded by Heart doctors
