I came to WebMD to see if urinary retention, difficulty emptying bladder, etc. might be one of Bystolic's side effects. Only one person has mentioned it and it's not on the list for the med itself. Wish I'd read comments before initiating this drug, because I'm now also suffering from malaise, headaches, extreme fatigue, weight gain,and increased depression. Have an appt. next week and will discuss going on to something else. It works, though!

Has not been effective in my blood pressure control.

I feel very sluggish and have had more periods of shortness of breath and irregular heartbeats

Was on 5mg for a month first it was ok then came side effects first my left arm started tingling on the outside of my forearm then the shoulder joints started to acke, then both arms started to tingle not to mention i gained ten pounds in a month also it made me feel cold from the inside out sometimes never had that before. Cut it down to 2.5 mg for a week but no good didnt work still had all the side effects been off it now for two days and do not have any of these feelings so I know it was the medicine bystolic. I did like it cause it did not make me dizzy but all the other side effects just way to many also it made me tired with no energy and also at times felt like I needed to throw up . Extreme headaches. Both ice pick headaches and then followed by migraine which started within 30 minutes of taking pill. Doctor took me off of pill. Had only been taking for 5 days.

just started taking this a week ago. have high blood pressure and afib. dr. said it would help both, am also on a statin and believe dizziness, shortness of breath and palpitations are worse. dont know if I want to give it more time or not.

STARTED ON IT 2 MONTHS AGO, STARTED GETTING BAD GAS, BUT CONTINUED, NOW HAVING STOMACH CRAMPS AND DIARRAH,& TIRED ALOT

i just started taking this drug and want to see how it is affecting other people.

I was also dealing with rapid heartbeat with elevated BP. I started taking 5 mg of Bystolic in conjunction with 20 Mg of the Ace Inhibitor lisinipril. Pulse rate now runs 55-70. My BP has been good-a little low at first(down to 95/50 at times), so we started chopping the 5 mg in half. Results are satisfactory. BUT the back weakness and severe pain between shoulder blades in the morning is close to imbearable. Goes away by mid afternoon. I'm concerned about long term effects on kidneys, liver, and energy. As a sidenote, my girlfriends indicates a definite increase in friskiness.Read More Read Less

i love this medication. i'd rather take this alone than take it with losartan.

Upon wakeing in the morning, I suffer from aches and pains, some lightheadeness and also swelling in one leg and foot..This occurs during the day as well.

i get side pain when using this product what side effect do you think it is it is under the rib cage

Seems to have controlled my tachycardia and shortness of breath. Physician stated my blood pressure was very good and emphasized the importance my not experiencing anymore shortness of breath.

Too many side effects such as itching, depression, muscle aches, dizziness, ringing in the ears, back aches, terrible fatique. Am waiting on Doctor to call so I can wean off.

Since taking bystolic I seem to experience skipped/at times rapid heartbeats only at night especially if I'm stretched out on the couch watching TV (relaxed) or almost as soon as I get comfortable in bed for the night. I need to get up and walk around until the irregularity stops! I haven't slept very well in the past 2wks. I wonder how common (if at all) this is?

I am trying to lose weight and am exercising 5 days a week. I try to get in 3 to 4 miles of cardio and do weights 3 days a week. This med has caused swelling of abdomen, hands, and feet. Also, on my previous meds I could reach target heart rate on the cardio machines. Now I work out just ahs hard and my heart rate never goes above 110. Along with this I experience chest pain (squeezing sensation) and breathlessness. I was on Diovan for 2 years and had increased hot flashes, depression, and fatique. The hot flashes are better, but the rast is ditto. I am tired of being used has a guinea pig and I want an old, proven, inexpensive drug. THEY DO EXSIST!Read More Read Less

Do not take this drug if you are allergic to milk. I'm anaphylactic to all milk including milk proteins. I had a bad allergic reaction to this medicine and the reaction didn't respond very well to antihastimines. After researching it this morning I discovered it is a known problem. I only took one pill.
